Thought I would post this up for those of us who are hoping for the stamina to stay up!

Tegan Fri 08-May-15 10:25:50

I really don't like that woman sad.

Ana Fri 08-May-15 10:27:09

No, he'll resign. Harperson will love being in charge...

POGS Fri 08-May-15 10:30:14

Ana

I was being sarcastic. Miliband is by far better than her.

Jane10 Fri 08-May-15 10:30:14

Its a great pity that its all so tribal. Either Socialists good/Tories bad or vice versa. Is it time to forget the traditional groupings and work a bit smarter? ie the socialists among you join the Tories and work from within to try to alter policy rather than just try to fight it out? The old fashioned way plainly isn't working.
It is a great shame about the Lib Dems. We do need more moderate clear thinkers. I reckon they'll be back next time. We'll need them.

POGS Fri 08-May-15 10:31:57

Tegan

Thanet results coming up soon/ Farage and The Pub Landlord.

POGS Fri 08-May-15 10:34:49

Well

That's Forage resigning too!

Falconbird Fri 08-May-15 10:42:07

Farage is out. I think he will resign smile

soontobe Fri 08-May-15 10:46:42

Pub landlord got about 333 votes I think.

FarNorth Fri 08-May-15 10:50:12

Brilliant news about Farage!!

Jane10, as I see it, the SNP are hoping to work smarter, for the whole UK, by having a large number of MPs at Westminster.
If they do not achieve much to benefit the whole UK, and it is through their own fault, a lot of their support will vanish.
If they are unable to achieve much, because of the way parliament is set up and/or because of the aggressive stance of other parties, they will still have huge support in Scotland and there could well be a wish for a new referendum.

By demonising the SNP, David Cameron could bring about the very push for Scottish independence that he claims to want to avoid.

By the way, soontobe, thank you for this comment :
Can I say that I think that voters on gransnet who support Labour, and lean towards Labour have been quite magnaminous on this thread tonight.

Tegan Fri 08-May-15 10:54:50

Sounds as though Ed is close to resigning as well; I wish I knew how to getonto twitter..

POGS Fri 08-May-15 11:00:03

It's going to be interesting to see the choice of cabinet and shadow front bench.

A lot of change there.

NotTooOld Fri 08-May-15 11:16:57

There are a lot of good Lib Dems gone along the way - Vince Cable, Danny Alexander, for instance. The Tories will get away with murder now - cuts everywhere. Remember they have not had the courage to tell us where the next round of swingeing cuts are to be made NHS? Education? Wait and see.

POGS Fri 08-May-15 11:18:28

Nor had the other parties!

Ana Fri 08-May-15 11:19:44

Labour didn't tell us where their cuts would be made - presumably not because they lacked the courage but because they had no idea.

POGS Fri 08-May-15 11:23:12

Forage RESIGNED.

Will UKIP implode now. Suzanne Evans is a good speaker but will they have the will to carry on much.

Where does this leave his seat in the European Parliament ?

rosesarered Fri 08-May-15 11:26:49

Harperson, I like that!grin

rosesarered Fri 08-May-15 11:31:00

There is no UKIP without Nige POGS, wouldn't be surprised if they dwindled away now( good!)

Jane10 Fri 08-May-15 11:36:21

farnorth re SNP -if only! They still play one club golf- independence is still the name of their game. They spent less per head on health and on education than England and had a budget underspend - that says it all about their economic competence while blaming Cameron for "austerity"! They don't speak for all Scots but present themselves as though they do. We'll never agree on this so I don't propose to keep an argument going. Am off to work smarter!

POGS Fri 08-May-15 11:36:31

Could be .

Clegg now resigned. I actually feel a bit sorry for him.

soontobe Fri 08-May-15 11:36:39

UKIP's future may rest upon what happens at the European referendum.

POGS Fri 08-May-15 11:38:32

Jane 10

Didn't the Institute of Fiscal Studies evaluate the SNP Manifesto as being the more austerity hard out of all the parties.?

Bogoff Fri 08-May-15 11:55:21

If I heard him correctly I'm sure NF said he would stand down, but would consider if he might re-stand for election in September, could be a short resignation. sad

harrigran Fri 08-May-15 12:09:52

wine Merlot and other like minded Gransnetters.

POGS Fri 08-May-15 12:18:29

So it's up to Harriet now then, Ed's gawn.

How long before she is challenged as another toff? Sauce for the goose and all that.

FarNorth Fri 08-May-15 12:19:25

Jane10 I didn't realise we were having an argument, I thought we just exchanged a couple of views.
Have a nice day smile
