Thought I would post this up for those of us who are hoping for the stamina to stay up!

GrannyTwice Fri 08-May-15 01:01:41

Looks like NF may not have won - <another straw clutched>

soontobe Fri 08-May-15 01:02:33

Am still up. Didnt intend to be, but been out and ended up staying and watching from the exit poll onwards.
We will see what transpires, but I am not at all surprised by the UKIP vote so far, or the collapse particularly of the Lib Dems.
[apparently in Germany, whichever party is the minority never fares well when the next election comes around].

I asked, probably on another thread about who the "others" are. I still didnt get a full answer from the people where I was, so will google at some point.
I think, for what is worth, and I may well be wrong, that the northerm irish vote is going to come into play. We shall see.

soontobe Fri 08-May-15 01:05:26

I dont think that NF will win.
I too am concerned about the NHS.
I too dont get how 11 polls or whatever it was, can be so out from an exit poll.

Maggiemaybe Fri 08-May-15 01:11:18

I'm still up. Perched on the edge of a bed in a hotel room with the TV volume down low! Hoping the exit polls are wrong and that the rumour re Galloway is correct. To my mind, the Labour vote is holding up well in the North of England.

soontobe Fri 08-May-15 01:11:25

Now looking back at other posts on this thread.

People care about the NHS, but it is not the only care.
The economy, immigration, education[though perhaps not so much this time around], are all important issues to, to people in their daily lives.

People are scared, quite frankly, of labours long record on the economy.
Labour never seem to home in on it, and dont seem to much care.

durhamjen Fri 08-May-15 01:11:43

Sounds like George Galloway is out as well. What will he do now?

Another website to follow.

soontobe Fri 08-May-15 01:12:51

Soem person or other, near the beginning of the bbc broadcast, said that the exit polls said that Labour would do well in the North East[or something like that].

GrannyTwice Fri 08-May-15 01:19:49

I don't know but is the main difference in the polls is that the opinion polls are about voting intention and the exit polls actually ask people as they come out of the polling station so they have actually voted

rubylady Fri 08-May-15 01:21:44

Is it me or are these presenters sounding biased? Currently on BBC1.

GrannyTwice Fri 08-May-15 01:22:03

Prof Curtess (Curtis ?) saying his exit poll looking accurate - I fear he is right. He's also just said they might get overall majority.

soontobe Fri 08-May-15 01:22:23

Yes. I think. I feel I should know more, but I dont think that I do.

GrannyTwice Fri 08-May-15 01:24:50

Ruby - in what way? I thought they were sounding very pleased and excited but I have put that down to my current mood

soontobe Fri 08-May-15 01:25:12

It is all a bit astounding really isnt it? I dont get it all really, even though I did guess some of it.

rubylady. Biased towards the tories?

POGS Fri 08-May-15 01:26:43

George Galloway and a few other MP's have a good old time on Russia Today!

GrannyTwice Fri 08-May-15 01:27:58

What's Russia Today?

whitewave Fri 08-May-15 01:29:50

Not looking good is it? I have switched the TV off as I got so fed-up with Dimbleby's attitude. ITV was better.

The only way to go is to fight the Tories every step of the way. They can't be allowed to ruin everything we have fought for over so many years.

durhamjen Fri 08-May-15 01:29:58

Labour always do well in the North East, soontobe. It's the area of the country that the Tories couldn't care less about.
Has anyone actually ever been asked for an exit poll? I would tell them to mind their own business.

rubylady Fri 08-May-15 01:31:35

soontobe Yes. I don't get it too. How can they say that Labour won't win when they have 7 to 3 to 1? I do wish they would explain how it is counted and the seats etc., especially for the thick, like me and the first time voters maybe.

rubylady Fri 08-May-15 01:34:02

whitewave How do we do that? I will have bedroom tax to pay again next year if Tory's get back in. And have so much less money to pay it out of.

soontobe Fri 08-May-15 01:34:43

My guesses.
Ed Miliband wasnt popular.
Job oppurtunities have increased in the last 5 years.
The economy has been doing relatively well.
People prefer to therefore stay with what they have, rather than risk Labour again?

But this may all be rubbish in a few hours times. We shall see.

Maggiemaybe Fri 08-May-15 01:36:17

I was asked once, Durham. I think it might have been 1992, when the exit polls got it wrong.

POGS Fri 08-May-15 01:36:20

Russia Today is on free view channel 135. All Jazeera free view 133 Sky 132 and BBC. 130 Parliament 131

Both have some very good worldwide news coverage but very often Russia Today is anti UK. Labour MP's like Dianne Abott, Paul Flynn et all are giving interviews.

durhamjen Fri 08-May-15 01:37:58

You are completely wrong, soontobe, about Labour not caring on the economy.
Have you not realised yet that the papers are all on the side of the Tories, because their owners do not want Labour to win. Many owners are nondoms. Hopefully you know what that means now. You have got the idea that Labour do not care about the economy from the right-wing newspapers.

whitewave Fri 08-May-15 01:38:29

ruby I know - but what else can we do?

GrannyTwice Fri 08-May-15 01:39:03

I'm going to have a doze now and when I next wake up this will all have been a horrid dream!
