Bugger it that's the next election lost.

Honestly jing!!!!! Also the enormous housing programme and infrastructure programme????? The welfare state???? All invested into by the government of the day, over a decade or so. Investment puts a bomb under the economy and money into the consumers pocket which in turn provides income to the exchequer used to pay downgovernment debt. The deficit will look after itself. that is all JC is suggesting - nothing more sinister.

I love politics!! Did you see that mental workouts such as debates etc are good for holding off old age. Hope that is true.
Just as an asidewink

I don't know, they wear me out! wink
(and make me have dreams. Still doing those spreadsheets for you, Jeremy!)

Same age as Jeremy Corbyn. He looks younger than me.

I am surprised nobody remembered earlier that Jeremy Hunt is the health minister and believes in homoeopathy.

Hello dj

I am older than him but I will say he looks fit (in the traditional sense I mean).
Brings a whole new meaning to 'on yer bike'
Read other thread re cycling first though before you try it.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Sept-15 17:14:14

I only remember the prefabs cos I lived in one. grin

rosequartz Wed 16-Sept-15 17:51:30

And they are still around jingls.

Not sure if my definition of affordable housing is the same as DC's and I know in my area, plans are regularly changed altering the balance of social and private house originally proposed at the planning stage of a project.

House building is an excellent way to help the economy, but only of people can afford to buy. I'd also like to see the spread of those 264,000 houses built in the last year. Details like how many were in the south east, etc.?

This was a couple of months ago. However, I'm sure Full Fact will do a factcheck on today's PMQs.

Hello, whitewave. Did you have a nice holiday? I am pleased you came back to good news.

whitewave Wed 16-Sept-15 20:27:25

Thanks yes excellent! Good news on my return as well.

Need to start a new thread I think as new term has just begun. I have got something alarming already.

soontobe Wed 16-Sept-15 21:48:43

I have a theory.

It seems to me that people of a left wing persuasion, are not very enamoured with the British way of life.
And that is why defence is not high on their personal agenda. In fact, quite the opposite.

Is that true?

POGS Wed 16-Sept-15 22:03:41

durhamjen

Can I ask what your post of 17.06 meant?

Balini Wed 16-Sept-15 22:07:29

Jeremy, wasn't voted in by the people, he was voted in by a majority of left leaning labourites. He also avoided PMs question time. He didn't have questions of his own, so he hid behind the people's questions. What a dud.

Tresco Wed 16-Sept-15 22:08:52

soontobe The answer to your question is no. Your theory is nonsense.

POGS Wed 16-Sept-15 22:09:48

White wave

As you made a personal comment I will respond.

We have not 'debated' the right wing press ad nauseum. The right wing press has been used as a cover to detract from the truth ad nauseum.

I was reminding posters of the fact it was Labour MP's and factual occurrences that keep giving the media their information.

Anniebach Wed 16-Sept-15 22:17:14

soon, all the soldiers killed in the two World Wars, Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan were all Tories ?

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Sept-15 22:19:00

He hasn't decided whether he will kineel before the Queen when he is made a member of the Privy Council! He says he didn't know he would have to! That is hilarious!!!

Where does he go from here then? grin

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Sept-15 22:19:37

He is out of his depth.

I'm starting to feel sorry for the old feller.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 16-Sept-15 22:40:32

soon your theory is nonsense. In fact, I can't understand why you should think it. Do you think everyone should have defence as their top priority?

jingles you are behind the times. He will follow established procedures for joining the Privy Council and before you ask, yes, he will be wearing a red poppy in November. Just because on his 3rd day in the job he did not join in the bear baiting we usually see at PMQs, doesn't make him a dud, nor does trying something new. I'd hate to think you judge everyone so quickly.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Sept-15 23:00:44

I don't think I am Wilma. He was interviewed for the BBC News tonight and when the interviewer asked him whether he would kneel for her maj he looked completely flabbergasted. Said he didn't know he would have to. Poor bloke. wat it here about 10.22

POGS Wed 16-Sept-15 23:10:09

IWilma

I don't think after 30 years in politics and the public seeing and hearing Corbyn you can say he is being judged quickly. Many made their mind up years ago whether they agreed with his views or not.

As for your last paragraph it comes back to the question how is he the 'conviction politician' , the man who will stick to his principles so many craved for and thought he would be if he has already given way to altering his long held principles , irrespective of the size of U. Turn.

durhamjen Wed 16-Sept-15 23:12:20

Did you know that Privy Councillors had to kneel before the queen? I didn't.
Not that I care, but why laugh at someone who does not know protocol? He has never been on the front bench before.
I find it quite refreshing. Maybe the queen could do without some of this rubbish too. I do not think she is likely to say off with his head.

rosequartz Wed 16-Sept-15 23:15:19

jingls don't under-estimate him.
He may try to come across as a charming old duffer, a very nice man as someone said earlier and not very intellectually astute.
But he knows perfectly well what he is doing.
Depending on your view of Great Britain, he will either be a hero or a very dangerous man indeed.
