New year/term, same old poo.

First anti-democratic point - £600 to be charged for information under the FOI

Second anti-democratic point and something that far left MP David Davis described as Franco's Spain. The requirement under the trade union bill for names, movement, social media use, etc to be given to the police prior to any action taken.

The www.weownit.org.uk report that is mentioned in the Guardian article was crowdsourced. An excellent use of time and money. They always need more, though.

whitewave Tue 24-May-16 17:14:32

Yes I've signed today.

durhamjen Tue 24-May-16 17:04:22

Just seen it and signed it, Eloethan. It's easy to do, just four questions to respond to, and your response will go straight to the enquiry.
Can't put a link on,for which some will be grateful, because it gives my details.

Eloethan Tue 24-May-16 16:35:09

There's a 38 Degrees petition regarding the Land Registry sell off and I think there's only 2 days left to sign it.

More government nonsense. So obvious that we will lose out if we sell off these assets, but Osborne can't see it.
Or maybe he can, but just doesn't care so long as the books look okay in 2020.
So shortsighted.

Barley was a brilliant film, as was his tv play Kathy Come Home and I loved Kes .

I look forward to seeing his new film, hope it shakes people up as much as Kathy did all those decades ago.

durhamjen Sun 22-May-16 22:42:17

You had me worried there, Welshwife...Ken Loach can't be trusted. Then I realised.

Hard to believe, Annie, that the last time Loach won was for The Wind That Shakes the Barley. That seems a lot longer ago than ten years. Mind, we saw that in York, so it couldn't be before 1999.

Welshwife Sun 22-May-16 22:36:02

I quite agree he cannot be trusted. If he thought it would have been better for his leadership bid he would be campaigning to remain - just out for himself and can turn turtle any time.

Anniebach Sun 22-May-16 22:28:45

Just heard Ken Loach has won Jen , great news

FarNorth Sun 22-May-16 22:01:54

Whether Boris is dopey or cunning, he's definitely only out for himself and can't be trusted.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36355313

Ken Loach's new film about austerity has won the Palme D'Or.

Anniebach Sun 22-May-16 20:43:22

I think he is manipulative, sly, and cannot be trusted

Welshwife Sun 22-May-16 20:32:57

I can see why people could think Boris was a breath of fresh air but unfortunately he is also a big dope that you could not trust to make any serious decisions. I always think he has a lot of growing up to do.

whitewave Sun 22-May-16 19:38:25

That's what is so funny about him being a breath of fresh airgrin

Wouldn't fancy him being the PM. Wonder what else he would suppress?

www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/may/16/boris-johnson-accused-of-burying-study-linking-pollution-and-deprived-schools

Actually, he's anything but a breath of fresh air as far as Londoners are concerned. He hid the report on pollution.

durhamjen Sun 22-May-16 18:44:59

Head full of helium, or laughing gas.
I'm a normal working class person.
You obviously haven't read my link, Firecracker.
A breath of fresh air is someone who, when asked his opnion on drugs said he'd forgotten his opinion on drugs.

whitewave Sun 22-May-16 14:42:05

Boris a breath of fresh air????!!!!!???????

Firecracker123 Sun 22-May-16 12:18:29

Boris is a breath of fresh air in my opinion. I think you underestimate his popularity with normal working class people. He was London Mayor for 8 years.

Did you read this one, whitewave?

durhamjen Sun 22-May-16 10:35:30

800 words in the queen's speech, and no, I didn't count them. Someone else did.

30 years, eh? Either dead or with dementia. Hopefully our children and grandchildren will be able to kick up a fuss.

whitewave Sun 22-May-16 08:05:27

Thanks dj there are other articles there that are interesting as well.
What I find so worrying is that it is so easy to find total incompetence in the government. I would love to be able to read the history books in 30 years time, as they will definitely not be kind.

The other thing I was thinking about was the Queens speech.

You know for a Tory government who has finally managed to get a tiny majority after something like 23 years, you would think it was bursting at the seams with new fresh and innovative ideas. But no the speech was the thinnest I have ever heard, and repeated most of the plans from previous speeches.

Perhaps they understand just how toxic a Tory party can be, because they are in power but with very little enthusiasm from the electorate.

I hope this link works. I hadn't realised it was so long.
It's to a glum looking Cameron about TTIP.
The other photos and comments are good, too.

How long can we give them for a u-turn? Apparently in 2003 Gideon wrote a letter complaining about tuition fees and saying a conservative government would abolish them. This parliament they announced Fees will go up to £9000+.
