Just read about this on the internet. I think it said it was in the 1970s. Can it be true?

Ana Fri 18-Sept-15 18:13:48

Well, your grandchildren won't appreciate what an interesting life you've led unless you tell them about your debauched youth, Gracesgran! grin

Some people think that Jesus had a love affair with Mary Magdalene
djen No, they were married of course!

rosequartz Fri 18-Sept-15 18:18:16

Jingle, you will have noticed it is those on the right here who keep bringing Messiah into the discussion yes?
Annie shock

First time I mentioned it, it is everyone else who keeps referring to his initials being the same as .....
I usually refer to him as JBC, just to differentiate you understand.

Me, on the right?
You have to be kidding, just devil's advocate me!
I get a sore arse backside sitting on the fence so occasionally jump down one side or the other.

rosequartz Fri 18-Sept-15 18:19:48

Quite a lot of people are into manhole covers
Gracesgran and Tegan I have to take issue with you.
That is a sexist name for a personhole cover.

Ana Fri 18-Sept-15 18:24:32

There were a lot of effusive left-wing articles proclaiming Corby to be the Labour Party's saviour, during and after the leadership election campaign. That's what 'messiah' means, technically, so what's the problem?

vampirequeen Fri 18-Sept-15 18:29:46

It would have been very strange for him not to be married by his thirties in first century Israel.

But as John was ??the disciple whom Jesus loved.?? John 13:23 perhaps it's not so surprising he wasn't officially married.

vampirequeen Fri 18-Sept-15 18:31:26

Where did the questions marks come from.....aaarrrrggghhh. Will I never see a quotation mark again as punishment for such blasphemy??????

Ana Fri 18-Sept-15 18:33:16

Why is it that they work for some and not for others?

"We need to know"!

rosequartz Fri 18-Sept-15 18:39:52

They don't work for me either vq
(was I blasphemous? Did I say something against JC?)

I did think his rapturous reception as a saviour in some quarters was like greeting the new messiah.

Anniebach Fri 18-Sept-15 18:55:39

Ana, anyone can be a saviour, depending on your faith - if of faith - the Jews are still waiting for the first Messiah, Christians for him to come a second time.

Anniebach Fri 18-Sept-15 19:02:45

Have to disagree rosequartz , more likely his second coming will be as written by G A Studdert-Kennedy - 'When Jesus came to Birmingham'

rosequartz Fri 18-Sept-15 19:04:09

How many have the Labour Party had?
Is he the second, third, fourth or what saviour?

He has to be better than the last one.

Ana Fri 18-Sept-15 19:05:30

Yes, I know all that, Annie - I just meant that saying that Corbyn is Labour's messiah or saviour isn't necessarily equating him with Jesus, or being blasphemous, and that it isn't only 'those on the right' who are referring to him in such a way.

trisher Fri 18-Sept-15 19:10:21

If JC is the messiah what does that make David Cameron?

rosequartz Fri 18-Sept-15 19:11:41

I think Len McCluskey thinks he is anyway

Is he 'on the right'?
Oh, perhaps not! wink

Slapped wrist, be serious.
(although I thought this thread was not a serious one)

I don't care/don't mind if JBC and DA had an affair, a fling, a liaison, a beautiful love story or whatever years ago, as long as it doesn't impinge on any decision making now.

Ana Fri 18-Sept-15 19:13:29

I doubt whether passion is going to be rekindled between them. He looks worn out already...

rosequartz Fri 18-Sept-15 19:15:30

Ana grin
He looks worn out already
Oh dear, and he has a young wife ...

rosesarered Fri 18-Sept-15 19:19:12

Oh, come on, I'm not Corbyn's biggest fan fan, but this manhole cover thing is totally made up, yes? It's too ridiculous to be true!

vampirequeen Fri 18-Sept-15 19:21:08

If JC is the messiah what does that make David Cameron?

Demon Chief (one of the Devil's pseudonyms). Coincidence....or is it? hmm

rosesarered Fri 18-Sept-15 19:21:50

Sorry to come in a bit late with this comment, but am on holiday( where there are a few things to keep me busy.smile

rosesarered Fri 18-Sept-15 19:23:13

Sorry VQ we can't allow any made up names!grin

rosesarered Fri 18-Sept-15 19:24:37

It makes DC.... De man in Charge ( DC, geddit?)

rosequartz Fri 18-Sept-15 19:56:57

I don't know about the personhole cover hobby, after all, some people may think it is strange to go round brass-rubbing in churches ... hmm

rosequartz Fri 18-Sept-15 19:57:40

roses you are not allowed to go on holiday with all this going on grin

Ana Fri 18-Sept-15 19:59:04

And train-spotting has always seemed rather odd to me. But each to their own...hmm
