They said on the radio this morning that DC took 3 months not a week.

What a lot of nonsense this is.

It's honest of Jeremy Corbyn to show how he feels if, indeed, it was meant as a snub. Freedom of speech is something we should cherish. Better to know politicians before they get elected - we've had too many who only show their true colours once it's too late.
I'd like to see an alternative to the national anthem. The Queen is well looked after but we should ask God to save those who aren't.

David Cameron was sworn just over a week after becoming Tory leader, jingl, not three months after.

How do you know it's not out of disrespect, nigglynellie?

In which case, he will be meeting the Queen another time for the meeting.

Would he defend the Queen if she had an intruder?
Would he defend the Queen from an invading army?
Would he prioritise the Queen in anything at all?

It's not for disrespect either.

Anniebach Thu 08-Oct-15 10:26:55

He has not refused to meet the queen, he is unable to attend the meeting today because he has an appointment elsewhere

Anniebach Thu 08-Oct-15 10:23:37

Rememberance Sunday isn't for the queen or the rest of the windsors

Anniebach Thu 08-Oct-15 10:21:48

Defend the queen from what soon?

nigglynellie Thu 08-Oct-15 10:20:40

I would think it highly unlikely! But let's hope it never has to be put it to the test. Wonder how JC will cope with Remembrance Sunday? bearing in mind the Queen will be there, plus other royals! Hope good manners will prevail, but who knows?!!

soontobe Thu 08-Oct-15 10:13:40

Would he defend the Queen I wonder?

At the risk of getting gobbled alive grin this is a very interesting link to what the privy council is and what it does. It would seem to be a waste of time, and Corbyn was right to prioritise other things.

Whether it ends well or not depends, again, on the voters. Or his fellow labour MPs I suppose. I suppose.

Cameron was sworn in three months after becoming leader of the Cons. It's nothing unusual. Big fuss over nothing.

Not many of the Council attend each meeting.

Anyway, if he wants to "snub" the Queen", well, he was voted into his new role. His followers knew his views. Why make a thing of it now.

He is not going to be PM and is therefore accorded the luxury of being honest - something that is sadly lacking in our nation's political life. I may not agree with all he says or believes, but it is good that in some areas he is not stooping to the hypocrisy that seems to be required of politicians.

just heard that Corbyn declined to meet the Queen and join the Privy Council. He will be the first Leader of the Opposition to do this, or the first Leader of the Government come to that.Interesting!
Another thing that won't sit well with the voting public, along with not singing the National Anthem ( but lustily singing the red flag song.)
He is keeping to his principles ( as a back bencher) but this can't end well for a would be Leader.
