just heard that Corbyn declined to meet the Queen and join the Privy Council. He will be the first Leader of the Opposition to do this, or the first Leader of the Government come to that.Interesting!
Another thing that won't sit well with the voting public, along with not singing the National Anthem ( but lustily singing the red flag song.)
He is keeping to his principles ( as a back bencher) but this can't end well for a would be Leader.

forum? Not thread?

tigger Sat 10-Oct-15 11:35:11

Yep rosesarered: given the number of comments on this forum would seem to be worthwhile.

tigger Sat 10-Oct-15 11:31:46

Anniebach, I agree but we are perilously close to a Michael Foot situation. Who is informing opinion? The media are - it's closely reminiscent of the days when the Unions seemed to dictate policy and opinion and it's scary.

A whole new forum?

tigger Sat 10-Oct-15 11:26:23

Yes, I know but I think he grows vegetables. Seriously there are at least 2 pages of unrelated stuff. Perhaps someone should set up a separate forum to discuss roses and thorns etc.

Anniebach Sat 10-Oct-15 11:25:56

tigger, the media twist everything to negative about him. He said he was sorry Bin Laden had been killed not sent to trial , this has become - Corbyn was sorry Bin Laden had been killed . He is against heredity monarchy like many are but this has become Corbyn snubs the queen , what else from a Tory press, SKY and even the BBC who are panicking because the government is reviewing reforms

rosesarered Sat 10-Oct-15 10:44:07

We combined it with gardening, tigger, the great man himself has an allotment you know.

tigger Sat 10-Oct-15 10:36:52

By the way, looking at the last few posts, am I on the right forum? I thought this one was about Jeremy Corbyn.

tigger Sat 10-Oct-15 10:35:13

He didn't decline to meet the Queen, he was unable to attend due to a previous appointment. I do wish the media would cease demonising this man just because of his political opinions.

grinwe never stake roses here ( that is for delphiniums and vampires) but we could give any droopy drawers a good cutting down to size!
I enjoy a good spray each morning too .

Anya Sat 10-Oct-15 08:59:08

I think Elegran needs to take more water with it Roses hmm

Elegran Sat 10-Oct-15 08:52:10

I could do with staking to keep me upright.

rosequartz Fri 09-Oct-15 23:37:47

I need regular spraying to keep me smelling sweet grin
And I could do with a bit of trimming round the middle part.

But generally speaking I am very easy-going as long as I get enough manure food and drink water.

Anya Fri 09-Oct-15 23:19:08

I believe that is true Elegran

Don't think we're exactly 'rosebuds' any more though. I liken myself to a full blown rose which is just about to lose it's petals and needs to be pruned, sharpish sad

Elegran Fri 09-Oct-15 22:41:43

We do our best for them, but one of mine is developing the dreaded black spot. I shall have to get out the fungicide. I read somewhere (sorry, forget exactly where) that black spot is not so bad in cities, because of the air pollution being bad for the fungus. I hope all you assorted rosebuds don't need spraying.

rosesarered Fri 09-Oct-15 22:20:45

And if I get disparaged too much I stick my thorns in.grin

Ana Fri 09-Oct-15 22:18:34

Anya, calm down we are all rose-lovers here (although some, of course, are more compassionate than others). We all try to do our bit for the good of all roses, but sometimes our motives are questioned and disparaged....sigh!

rosesarered Fri 09-Oct-15 22:17:01

Annie you are quite right, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet
( although if a rose were called a Muglion or a Wartaria, would we like it as much?)

rosesarered Fri 09-Oct-15 22:14:23

Well, Anya, I think your rose needs a bit of it's own personal space to truly discover itself.Lavender is all very well, but it does tend to take over and
Leach all the good stuff from around it.Roses put up with it, but it does affect them, they are more frail and vulnerable than you may think, and could go into a decline.I think my roses had better have a quiet word with your roses, just to be sure.wink

Anya Fri 09-Oct-15 22:02:16

OMG Roses are you saying I don't know my own roses? That I make sweeping generalisations without establishing the facts? Let me tell you I worked with unhappy and socially deprived roses for years.

Anniebach Fri 09-Oct-15 21:54:24

A rose by any other name would as sweet

rosesarered Fri 09-Oct-15 21:34:59

Anya.... Have you actually asked your rose if it's happy? mmn, I Think not.
grin yes Roseanya sounds good, we could have utter confusion in the ranks, what fun!

rosequartz Fri 09-Oct-15 20:58:38

Perhaps I'll come back as Lavender

[thinks]

Anya Fri 09-Oct-15 20:58:10

But I'm all for confusion. Perhaps I could become Roseanya?

Anya Fri 09-Oct-15 20:57:00

My roses are interplanted with lavender and seem quite happy confused
