Should we bomb De-ash/ISIS in Syria?

Blair took us into the Iraq war (to keep his American allies happy) and the Middle East was de-stabilised.
Its even more unstable and Cameron seems keen to send bombers there, presumably to keep his EU allies happy (given his negotiations...).
ISIS/DEA-SH thrive on chaos. They are a death cult aimed at hastening the end of the world. (Day of Judgement, Islam style).
Given the chaos in Syria and Iraq with all the different factions on the ground and Russia joining the throng in the air I cannot see why joining in would be either helpful or wise.
The poor civilians on the ground are now in fear of Assad, De-ash/ISIS and the bombs.
Cameron's arguments are thin.
Here are some more arguments on the other side voxpoliticalonline.com/2015/11/27/how-many-innocents-will-die-because-of-right-wing-labours-petulance/
Your MP will be heading back to their constituency to think about this over the weekend.
If you are against the bombing please, please write to your MP.
You can use this very easy site. You just type in your postcode and the site will ensure that your MP gets your email. They will be getting lots of emails on the subject so there is no need to be long-winded, so it's a 5 minute task. www.writetothem.com

Wilma, in fairness I think Corbyn has distanced himself from it not just tried to.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 02-Dec-15 15:42:23

Whitewave I do understand that, but given we're criticising DC for his 'terrorist sympathisers' comment, it doesn't seem appropriate right now, especially given the serious subject under discussion. Perhaps I am wrong though.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 15:40:34

Wilma, he is well known as Flashman and I think me referring to a name which has been with him for years is nothing compared to him calling me a terrorist sympathiser , I have a right to be angered by this insult

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 02-Dec-15 15:38:25

AnnieBach unfortunately it is left wing activists carrying out the abuse and Jeremy Corbyn has made it clear he doesn't support the action and tried to distance himself from it.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 15:37:33

Thank you for the link jamjar.

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 15:37:06

WILMA in Annie's defence DC has been known as Flashman for ever.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 02-Dec-15 15:33:48

AnnieBach please don't take this the wrong way, but you do yourself no favours with your Flashman comments. Name calling diminishes the credibility of your comments, which is such a shame because I respect the points you make.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 15:33:17

Thank you .Grscesgran, I don't bother with twitter , I do get emails if Stephen Fry makes a comment but never go on there , too many bullies

Ana Wed 02-Dec-15 15:32:39

Glad you find all this so amusing, Anniebach.

JamJar1 Wed 02-Dec-15 15:32:09

Here is the link I read, Guardian,

www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/dec/02/labour-mps-deselection-threats-syria-vote-stella-creasy-diana-johnson

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 15:29:44

That's awful Wilma, surely the left will not be accused of this too smile

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 02-Dec-15 15:27:44

It was Labour MP Stella Creasy who is undecided about how to vote.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 15:25:22

Gracesgran, I am most surprise at the Libs supporting the government , Paddy Ashdown spoke out against air strikes recently

Gerald looks unwell doesn't he? He is such a nice man , a gentleman not a Flashman grin

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 02-Dec-15 15:22:45

I am listening to the debate live on the radio and earlier someone had to leave the chamber because her staff were receiving abusive phone calls about not supporting air strikes. I think it was Caroline Lucas, but I could be wrong.

Gracesgran Wed 02-Dec-15 15:21:56

I think Annie, that niggly meant twitter, etc., surely. However, even if that were true, whatever anyone was to call me or say to me on here could never compare to what my Prime Minister is inferring about everyone who will not walk through the same lobby as him and those whose views they represent and saying it in a forum where he knows it will be made public. Dishonerable conduct for a Prime Minister niggly, dishonerable conduct.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 15:20:44

Nigglenellie, you know all who are anti war are of the far left? Wrong again

You on the far right are in no position to accuse anyone of bad behaviour when members of your party are being investigated for bullying

If I google Father Christmas I am sure I will find the address where I can write to him

nigglynellie Wed 02-Dec-15 15:13:01

You can think what you like, I can assure you it is true. Google it, it's all there, the rabble are shrieking, screaming and threatening exactly how they always have done, to the apparent satisfaction of their leader. The far left have always behaved like this, so what can you expect? deja vu really!

Gracesgran Wed 02-Dec-15 15:12:51

Oh Annie wasn't it - Kaufman I mean, but how he has aged.

I am still stunned by the Liberals stance - just watching Tim Farron.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 14:53:56

And where did you read this nigglenellie? Was Gerald Kauffman abusive to anyone ? What you are claiming is not true sorry , and nothing you try to put forward as an excuse for the insult from Cameron works, what he said was inexcusable.

And before I have the usual comments on how do I know - I have three relatives working in the house, one is an MP, I know there has been no such thing said by Corbyn . Some just cannot come to terms with the fact that he is an honest MP oh that the same could be said of Cameron

Sorry but can't even say you did a good job of trying to Excuse Cameron and besmirch Corbyn, it was rather sad

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 14:51:39

DC was being asked to apologise to everyone who does not want to have British aircraft bombing Syria, and it is bombing Syria, not just Isil.

There are an awful lot of awful people in this country, nigglie; roughly half the population do not want that.
Do you think the same as DC? Do you think that half the population of this country are awful for not wanting to bomb Syria, and are terrorist sypathisers?

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 14:45:46

www.uniraq.org/index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=category&task=category&id=159&Itemid=633&lang=en

Civilian casualties as listed by UN in Iraq for every month. This is despite the fact that the UN is being hindered in seeing casualties.

Of course, not a single one was killed by British forces, is that right?
Excuse the sarcasm.

nigglynellie Wed 02-Dec-15 14:43:07

I understand that Labour MP's who plan to vote with the government are being subjected to horrendous abuse and threats both outside an inside the House of Commons. Liz Kendall in particular has been threatened with a Nazi solution - J.C has reportedly said that there will be no hiding place for these MP's, frightening stuff indeed. No wonder D.C doesn't apologise to such awful people. It'll be a brave person who isn't intimidated by these threats.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 14:18:12

Very good argument by Kaufman

John Baron Tory MP is speaking against the yes vote, also angry at being called a terrorist sympathiser when he had served in N.I.

He doesn't believe the 70,000 Cameron claims will form an army

The Blairites are going with the yes vote - no surprise there

Jayh Wed 02-Dec-15 13:47:16

This is not the first time that Cameron has allowed his inner Flashman to reveal what lies beneath that polished exterior. Terrorist sympathisers??? He should apologise.
I am watching the debate as I write this. Good arguments from Gerald Kaufmann.

JamJar1 Wed 02-Dec-15 13:47:03

I may be wrong Nfk but I understood the Brimstone missiles are especially more precise and don't shower everywhere, or anywhere as far, when it hits the target.
