What ideas are there instead of bombing?

Yes I know, another thread about IS.

But I am interested to have a thread, where those who dont want bombing of Syria, say what they do want to happen instead? To stop IS?

It seems to me that most if not all gransnet posters want IS stopped. How?

Answer to Anniebach.
dj, there is a whole thread to answer yours.

soontobe Thu 10-Dec-15 20:49:54

And you havent answered the question either. You dont have to either.

durhamjen Thu 10-Dec-15 20:56:35

Which question, soon?

soontobe Thu 10-Dec-15 20:58:24

20.24pm post

Anniebach Thu 10-Dec-15 20:59:23

True soon, I do not have to answer , I do answer the majority of questions, I pass those that are obviously posted to bait or those which make no sense to me.

soontobe Thu 10-Dec-15 21:18:36

An avoiding answer. Oh well.

durhamjen Thu 10-Dec-15 22:26:57

I've looked and there is no question there, soon.
If you are just reiterating the op, my answer was on the first page.

Ana Thu 10-Dec-15 22:31:11

I dont understand why some people consider the first group a lot more important than the second group.

Although not a direct question, this is obviously what soon meant, as you must know, durhamjen. But as usual, you'd rather pretend otherwise and avoid having to actually explain anything without a link.

durhamjen Thu 10-Dec-15 22:36:21

What happened to your response, Ana, when you said I was scraping the bottom of the barrel? Pot calling kettle black there. Anyway, soon can answer for herself. It's not a question.

Soon, what the people of Syria want is far more important than what you or I or anyone else on here think about the situation.

This is what they want, and I agree that that is important.

durhamjen Thu 10-Dec-15 22:38:18

A question, soon. Have I ever said the first group is more important than the second group?

Greenockgran Thu 10-Dec-15 22:40:36

There must be plenty of information of those already in the UK. Just this weekend someone had their throat cut, but the family of this person who shouted "this is for Syria" had reported him and it was ignored.
I wonder why a muslim march for peace was also ignored in our press. The cost of bombing Syria should really be spent on keeping our own people safe... Or is that too obvious?

rosesarered Thu 10-Dec-15 22:41:17

A good question soontb and the answer is obvious, the first group is NOT more important than the second group.

Ana Thu 10-Dec-15 22:43:31

Er...I think if you look at the relevant thread, durhamjen, you'll see that I answered the question posed by Eloethan. Do try to check your facts first.

durhamjen Thu 10-Dec-15 22:53:22

Except you did not actually answer it, did you? You just said the thread had moved on since then.

I do not understand, greenockgran.

"There must be plenty of information of those already in the UK."

What do you mean by of those?
The syriacampaign is by people still in Syria, trying to keep their country together.

Ana Thu 10-Dec-15 23:03:14

No, I said more than that, as you must know. Do you want me to copy and paste my reply on here? Hang on...

Ana Thu 10-Dec-15 23:08:02

There was no response, Eloethan, because I'd gone to bed by the time you posted the above and yesterday things seemed to have moved on rather.

I didn't comment on the article, I commented on Chris Floyd, whose style I find pretentious and self-satisfied. And if even thatbags and janea can't penetrate his waffle I don't think his views are going to cut much ice with the majority of readers/posters on here.

Ana Thu 10-Dec-15 23:08:57

Just to clarify, as you only seem to have read the first paragraph of my post.

This is his letter printed in the Guardian.
Does that sound like someone at the bottom of the barrel, or someone eminently sensible, who knows far more about the middle east and the interactions there with the west and Russia than even Tristram Hunt?
