Like Father Like Son?

As Hilary Benn is acclaimed for his speech supporting the bombing in Syria I couldn't help wondering about his father and his constant stance on upholding peace. His speech is still the most moving and still has relevance today www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/12/02/syria-vote-airstrikes-tony-benn-iraq-speech_n_8700306.html
Is this just a case of a son trying to outdo his father by taking the opposite viewpoint?

I do wonder if it is possible to go so long without a wee?

Ana Sat 05-Dec-15 18:35:08

You're not suggesting....? shock

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 05-Dec-15 20:54:10

They did mention tubes on HIGNFY. shock

rosequartz Sat 05-Dec-15 20:55:31

It was very funny grin

But would the tinkling make a noise?
I suppose you wouldn't notice in that bear garden

Apart from anything else DVT could be an issue. Perhaps he wore flight socks.

I wonder if he walked funny when he got up and left the chamber. Having his equipment to take with him. Mind boggles!

I think the country should demand answers. We need to know.

whitewave Sat 05-Dec-15 21:06:01

Perhaps the speakers seat is a comode?

rosequartz Sat 05-Dec-15 21:06:09

Doesn't he have a Deputy who could relieve him (no pun intended) occasionally?

Ana Sat 05-Dec-15 21:09:26

He wouldn't dare risk missing anything, rose!

rosequartz Sat 05-Dec-15 21:21:19

Perhaps he sits on one of those Porta Pottis that you can use in old caravans grin

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 21:49:25

Maybe he has trousers like Billy Connolly ( New caravans have portapottis too, not just old ones RQ . portapottis )

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 05-Dec-15 22:07:42

We used to have a Portapottie in our caravan. And a toilet tent. Wish we still had it. sad It was nice sitting there on a sunny morning with the zip half down, watching the bees in the hedgerow. [sigh]

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 05-Dec-15 22:08:48

Of course, on a wet day the toilet roll went all soggy.

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 22:13:57

Ours was in a tiny toilet cupboard with no light. We were OK as we were familiar with it and could find our way in the dark, but a friend who was visiting was in there for ages - we were waiting to hear the tinkle. I think he was afraid his aim wouid fail in the dark so his bladder seized up. He should have just sat down.

whitewave Sat 05-Dec-15 22:16:23

It used to get very hot though - the toilet tent- oh! I so miss our caravan

There is such a thing as a "Policeman's friend"- known on Wiki as a "Stadium Buddy"- thats Americanisation for you. I was always told they were used when on long stake-outs by the police- but this may not be true!

Yes, I suppose they do, we haven't had a caravan for about 15 years. The last site we went to you could hook up to all services (like the Speaker, I suppose grin)

rosequartz Sun 06-Dec-15 12:59:44

New caravans have portapottis too, not just old ones
Last post was in answer to the above blush
