We can't possibly let this slip by!

Tory on Radio 4 this morning arguing that we can't tackle the "treasure islands" that we have sovereignty over as it will lose people jobs!
I was astounded. So it is fine for the Steel workers to face penury but not those who help the wealthy to hide their money.

DC implicated - won't be long before GO is mentioned.

Cameron's speech in the house this afternoon will be more amusing than any comedy. He may start with his love for his father - rather generous considering his mother thought it wrong one son was given far more in the will than the other son! - then he will attack, he always uses - the best form of defence is attack as he goes very red in the face with anger . As a PM and a PR man one would think he would have learned how to conduct himself in public

nigglynellie Mon 11-Apr-16 13:42:36

Have you got a crystal ball ab? Your hatred of D.C. is bordering on paranoia and is quite creepy. I'm accused of making horrid comments, that's rich!!!! People in glass houses etc come to mind !

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 14:09:26

Cameron has said Georgie should published his tax returns

Anya Mon 11-Apr-16 14:22:48

That's an interesting point you make POGS about Putin, and I believe Assad too.

It makes all this over-concern in the media about Cameron seem insignificant if that was the reasoning behind the leaks.

Yes, there is a much bigger picture to be considered here.

daphnedill Mon 11-Apr-16 14:31:29

Anya, The original leak was made to a German newspaper before the 2015 election, so I don't see how the original intention can have been to smear Cameron. However, I do think that it's possible that the obsession with the Cameron family and ignoring other people involved suits some interest groups very well.

Interestingly, Farage and Johnson are refusing to publish their tax data.

It's seems that Cameron has done nothing illegal, although he is responsible for deciding what's legal and the extent to which his personal circumstances have influenced law-making is a serious issue. I fear that we'll see some 'enquiry' and, once it's shown that Cameron is in the clear, the whole bigger picture will be swept under the carpet.

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 14:52:48

It doesn't seem Cameron has done anything ilegal , he couldn't have had a more expert advisor than his father.

It's the fact he has been dishonest , seperating his and his fathers tax avoidance from the same as others.

He condemned Jimmy Carr as immoral yet when asked about Gary Barlow doing the same as Carr he said he would not make personal comments

Receiving a large sum of money to cover clothing expenses and mocking a MP in the house over his suit.

Arrogance is unpleasant and I consider him arrogant

daphnedill Mon 11-Apr-16 15:30:12

I agree with you, ab, but what seems to be happening is that people are forgetting his arrogance, hypocrisy, spin and comments such as the one about Corbyn's suit, which are just plain nasty schoolboy bullying (and it's not the first time he's done it). Some people seem to be letting him off the hook because he's done nothing illegal. I think he should be judged on his arrogance, hypocrisy, disregard for the poor and vulnerable, etc etc. I think it's a shame that it's taken the Panama Papers to wake up media interest. I doubt very much if he'll change, but we'll see.

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 15:37:09

.daphne, you list the reasons why I dislike - not hate as accused by niggle - Cameron

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 15:38:03

Cameron has speaking and has started by defending his father

daphnedill Mon 11-Apr-16 15:44:51

Last one from me before I go out.

Just read Osborn'es tax statement. Apparently he made £3 interest on his savings in 2014/15. What??!!! Even I made more interest than that!

If he can only earn £3 interest, what the heck is he doing being Chancellor?

whitewave Mon 11-Apr-16 15:54:10

Loving Corbyns speech!

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 16:10:41

£3 interest ? grin how many more flying pigs

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 16:22:44

Dennis Skinner banned again, oh that we had more like Dennis , yes passionate but always for the vulnerable

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 16:29:32

Corbyn has released his P60 . Gross pay £70,695. Tax paid £1,8912 . Employer House Commons. He paid £100 fine for a weeks delay in returning his tax returns

Nonnie Mon 11-Apr-16 16:49:15

A P60 only shows how much one has earned from one employer! Is that all he can find?

This is all getting too silly for words. Lets judge them all on "I think he should be judged on his arrogance, hypocrisy, disregard for the poor and vulnerable, etc etc" and the history of what each party has done when in office to stop tax evasion, how each party has done on the economy which is the basis for paying for everything. What they have done to encourage people to go out to work, how many jobs they have generated etc. etc.

While we are at it shall we name and shame everyone living in social housing who can well afford to pay a full market rent or buy their own home.

What about ex-MPs who have made a fortune out of being an ex-MP?

I could go on and on about ways to 'judge' other people but I don't do that, I don't judge anyone as I am far from perfect too.

Incidentally, I have some shares, shall I be pilloried too? Oh forget that, anyone who has a pension, ISA etc probably has offshore shares!

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 16:55:42

Nonnie, if a person is paying their full tax in this country why do you think thry invest their money in off shore accounts ?

durhamjen Mon 11-Apr-16 16:58:07

That's a ridiculous comment, Nonnie.
Being paid £70,000 is quite enough for one very important job. I do not expect Corbyn to have more.
Osborne does not have another job. His extra money is from shares in his dad's company and renting out his house.
Cameron's extra money is not from another job; it's from renting out his house in Notting Hill.

One thing I did notice is that Corbyn has not claimed his state pension. He could have done so by now.

obieone Mon 11-Apr-16 17:06:11

I think it is more important to the country, much more important, to look at the bigger picture.
Lets keep our eyes on that.

durhamjen Mon 11-Apr-16 17:09:03

What is your bigger picture, obieone?

durhamjen Mon 11-Apr-16 17:19:36

Boris Johnson has published his.

www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/boris_tax_summary_11-12_to_14-15_2.pdf

I think he's saying "so there" to Cameron and Osborne.

Nonnie Mon 11-Apr-16 17:19:39

Annie Did you read my post? You probably have shares off shore too!

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 17:21:28

.obieone, I cannot take my eyes off the homeless , the disabled who have lost their mobility allowance , the high numbers eho depend on food banks, those forced to work with zero hour contracts whilst the very wealthy avoid paying their full tax

Nonnie Mon 11-Apr-16 17:27:08

Annie do you really think our parliament would be better if all MPs made that sort of disparaging remark? It is enough of a bear pit as it is without such nasty name calling.

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 17:28:30

Nonnie, I haven't shares off shore on in this country. I have no shares , don't want shares , difficult as it may be for some to accept, I have no interest in money, yes I need to buy food and pay my rent and utilities .

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 17:31:32

Nonnie, no I don't think it right , but if it's acceptable to mock a MP's clothes then insults are allowed - depending who is doing the insulting and who is the insulted it seems
