Can you explain why they continued to write on the thread?

I have kept out of this debate as I have made my decision, and do not propose to discuss my decision or the reason for it.
My reason for posting is that I do not see this to be a left v right (or any political leaning) question, It is what the individual considers best for The World, Europe, Britain, their families or themselves, Britain in my case.

Turkey seems to be the latest (imaginary) threat that the out campaign are bringing up. Defence minister on one channel this morning insisting we don't have veto on their entry. Cameron on the other insisting we do. Do you suppose when the Cabinet meets someone goes- "FGS don't mention Europe and the referendum."?

This is laughable. Obviously the Tory government is wanting to put lots of extra money into the NHS. It doesn't appear in his five year forward plan.

One if things that has surprised me is how discombobulated the Brexiters are, considering they e been agitating for a referendum for 50000 years, you would have thought they would have been much more together then they are. Their arguments now seem to largely to centre one way or the other on immigration, with little or nothing to say about the UK post EU, except to say everything will be fine, which seems when you look at the whole world ranged against them you would have thought they would be a little less lame.

It's because all they are interested in is who is going to lead the party when Cameron leaves.

He doesn't care really if the other Brexiters tear each other to bits. If we vote to stay in, he can carry on taking the EU money without doing the work. Even if we vote to leave he'll still be okay for at least a couple of years.

Should Turkey ever be allowed to join the EU it will be years away if ever. They are nowhere near reaching any of the targets they need to before being considered for admission.

However, the EU was not slow to start sending refugees back there. I wonder when Turkey will realise it was duped, and what will happen then.

Including human rights. Although as some in this country are hell bent on riding the UK of anything to do with ECHR we can hardly talk.

I couldn't quite work out whether that was meant to be in the queen's speech or not. "working towards..." I think she said. That could take ages. She could be a hundred by the time she does anything about human rights.

Cameron right for once. (twice) Yes we should Remain and yes we would have a veto if Turkey ever got to the point of qualifying in about 2045.

Isn't it worrying thinking that we have to agree with Cameron. If only he'd agree with us really important things like austerity and the NHS.

Well, if that is how it works, every single parliament, including our own, must have agreed to all the EU directives affecting the UK that are already in place. You are saying we could have blocked EU directives if we wanted to? Yet Cameron can't even get a few reforms in place.....

Hmmmm.

That doesn't exactly inspire confidence in being able to determine our future, does it?

I don't want a Latvian, an Estonian, a Romanian, a Slovenian a Slovakian or a Polish (et al) and perhaps an Albanian representative having influence on how we conduct ourselves in the UK. It would seem the government we elected is going along with everything quite happily, or doesn't have the influence to veto rulings not in our interest. Cameron's recent lack of progress, his failure to get the reforms he wanted in UK interests speaks volumes.

We are the EU's puppet, our strings are being pulled by others, yet we are providing much of the money to finance this operation. It's madness.

That's just silly and shows that you don't know how the EU works.
