Jalima,
I think you've maybe misundertsood me or I'm missing something.
What's wrong with the Daily Mirror article? I think Michele Hanson would probably agree with most of it. I know I do.
I know I promised to butt out of this thread, but I just can't help myself ;-)
Six (seven?) examples of antisemiticism have been quoted in the Labour Party, which really doesn't prove that antisemiticism is 'rife'. If you delve a bit deeper, some of them definitiely cross the line into antisemiticism by any definition. Others cross that line if you accept the line that any criticism of Israel is antisemitic . Others are daft. As for Livingstone - I think maybe he should be put out to grass and leave the whisky bottle in the drinks cabinet (personal opinion). None of that means that antisemiticism is 'rife' in the Labour Party.
I'm not in denial about antisemitism in the UK. I think it's much more widespread than six people in a membership of 300,000(?), which is about .002%. Even the most generous surveys suggest that at least 5% of the population holds strong antisemitic views and my personal guess is that it's much higher and it needs to be stamped out, along with any other form of racism.
