Doesn't seem to be a thread on this.
When I'm an old woman (90 no less) I will wear Fuchsia and start saying what I think?
Meanwhile the PM accidentally reveals the way he normally speaks to her...
Quite entertaining methinks.

Of course, HM is far more gracious and obviously more forgiving than me JessM. If someone had entertained the murderers of relatives of mine or my husband, I would find it difficult to have a good chat, even about work, with them.

That is one of the reasons why I admire her, rising above personal anguish and feelings to do her job with grace and dignity.

Anniebach Fri 13-May-16 11:33:32

When did queenie entertain someone who murdered a relative ?

GandTea Fri 13-May-16 13:22:30

Eleothan, if you think me presumptuous --- that's fine with me. Our Queen deserves respect IMO.

GandTea Fri 13-May-16 13:25:10

And if you really want to be pedantic - I asked , I did not tell

"please may we give her her proper title"

JessM Fri 13-May-16 18:38:49

I think the answer is GandTea sorry, no, you can try this line in your place if you want (or in a meeting of your local council or other formal environment) but deference to royalty is not one of the forum rules/guidelines. Do you have grandkids and do they toe the line when talking about 'er maj?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-May-16 19:12:59

There's no need to call her QE2 though!!!

whitewave Fri 13-May-16 19:15:27

grin

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-May-16 19:15:33

Perhaps a slight resemblance.

whitewave Fri 13-May-16 19:17:54

It reminds me so much of the song that lovely lady used to sing ( she's dead now) - something about gently as she glides along the floor. I wish I could remember both her and the song. This post is a bit useless really?

merlotgran Fri 13-May-16 19:21:52

Joyce Grenfell.....'Stately As A Galleon?'

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-May-16 19:22:12

Oh yes! Stately as a galleon, she glides across the floor. Doing the - something - two step - as in the days of yore. Can't remember any more. grin

durhamjen Fri 13-May-16 19:22:39

Joyce Grenfell?
Stately as a galleon?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-May-16 19:22:40

durhamjen Fri 13-May-16 19:23:13

When did queenie entertain someone who murdered a relative ? no anniebach, that's not what I said (or am I losing the plot, has been known) have a re-read of my post smile

I loved Joyce Grenfell, especially the nursery school one, my BF was a nursery school teacher and if I hear it I do think of her.

whitewave Fri 13-May-16 20:41:41

Just caught up yes yes yes - clever lot!

Anniebach Fri 13-May-16 22:21:08

Oops, fine it again, sorry Jalima . No idea what you are referring to though , the Russians?

Elegran Fri 13-May-16 22:24:16

Could she mean the blowing up of the Mountbatten yacht?

GandTea Fri 13-May-16 22:59:56

JessM, I can express my opinion anywhere I like, and yes my children are respectful.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-May-16 23:04:17

I always used to kid my elder GS that I was the queen. For years he believed me. Bless.

Anniebach Fri 13-May-16 23:10:56

GrandTea, I have the same respect for the queen as I do for any ninety year old, yes she has done her duty and lived a very privileged life , that's it for me .
