EU - I'm in a quandary

I can't be the only one!

I'm minded to vote out - the main reason being the free movement of capital and labour has resulted in a very low-wage economy and zero-hours contracts (gravy train, inefficiency, lack of democracy, vested interests, etc., also play a part).

However, how can I be on the same side as Bozzer, Gove, Fox, Farage et al - I wouldn't normally give them the time of day. Apart from Gisela Stuart I can't think of any politician I'd be remotely connected to.

Surely the Big Beasts in politics, academia & sciences, unions, etc. can't all be wrong?

As I said, a quandary confused

Ah yes....the 'get Boris' campaign engineered by Cameron swings into action.

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 15:42:41

Proving the truth that 'there is no one more conservative than an ageing socialist' wink

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 15:47:16

Who on Channel 4 is an ageing socialist?

durhamjen Wed 15-Jun-16 17:35:09

Another one for your list, Mamie.
The BMJ says the case for staying in is overwhelming.

practical Wed 15-Jun-16 17:43:50

Anya Its not worth the bother, acting like buzzards picking over the bones suits some but it's not my idea of a fun day.
Have you noticed, although more on this site are for out they don't gang up on anyone the second they post. we must be a peace loving lot.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 17:45:32

?

rosesarered Wed 15-Jun-16 17:45:34

POGS list is undoubtably a list of what we have seen from all political parties during this debate ( and possibly some outside politics.)

rosesarered Wed 15-Jun-16 17:46:23

Maybe even on Gransnet wink

Ana Wed 15-Jun-16 17:48:24

What are those blank squares you keep posting meant to represent, whitewave? confused

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 17:50:46

Oh they are smiley faces. Obviously doesn't work on my iPad. Will do it properly in future. Only me being lazy.

Jalima Wed 15-Jun-16 18:13:53

Are all these politicians drawn from all levels of society? Or is it based on their ability to pat?
Well, that has given me a laugh anyway whitewave
ability to pat babies and dogs presumably grin

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 18:14:41

grin

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Welshwife Wed 15-Jun-16 18:25:15

Jalima I was simply giving you an example of some thing I am aware of. The school the people went to before taking their Bac is immaterial - there are not the same sort of private schools here as in UK. Any private schools are very affordable here for anyone as the fees are very low. It is the type of Uni they either choose to go to or are accepted in which counts for paths to jobs so there really was no reason for your remark but well done to your dd for doing so well

Jalima Wed 15-Jun-16 18:39:19

I didn't know you were talking about schools overseas ww

Jalima Wed 15-Jun-16 18:40:16

And it was just a comment which referred to many previous posts so no reason to be snippy
so there really was no reason for your remark

Welshwife Wed 15-Jun-16 19:16:08

I was just replying to you - we were talking about some schools producing a higher proportion of Govt ministers etc - I simply said that in France it was a bit different rent but depended on the UNI you went to - which type of post Bac education.

Jalima Wed 15-Jun-16 19:34:35

Apologies Welshwife - I am mixing you up with whitewave (both ww) who was referring to Roedean and Benenden

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 19:36:47

Now we are all in a muddle grin

Jalima Wed 15-Jun-16 19:38:58

My head is spinning grin
I think I'll emigrate (away from the EU!)

Someone wants to hang onto his job.

Elegran Thu 16-Jun-16 06:58:23

The ability to speak up for themselves or not makes a great difference to someome's chances of talking people into electing them.
Princess Beatrice urges young to speak up for themselves

Perhaps I should also post that link on the thread where the junior members of the royal family are vilified as useless scroungers.

practical Thu 16-Jun-16 09:57:48

dj Someone wants to hang onto his job.
looks like it. Alex Salmond is saying Osborne's political career is over.

Tegan Thu 16-Jun-16 10:04:17

Well, I watched Gove on the BBC late last night, and I found him very frightening. Not that he answered any of the questions...I don't think he answered a single one. He just spoke in soundbites, over and over again, and they were 'control', 'Leave' and 'democracy' with a few others thrown in. He made people in that audience feel that each individual would have control and power over all the money they would now have. I won't have control over that money; it will be a Conservative Government that I didn't vote for which will probably be led by, and have a cabinet consisting of people that I loathe and despise. Not only has this referendum set neighbour against neighbour but I'm not sure that the parties themselves will get over this for a long time.I and my whole family are deeply troubled and saddened by all this.

POGS Thu 16-Jun-16 10:04:41

Rosesared

You are correct my list yesterday does refer to all political parties, both campaigns IN or OUT , most of the media coverage and sadly a hell of a lot of the content on Gransnet threads concerning the referendum.

This thread is titled ' I'm in a quandary ' and whilst I have gleened some food for thought intelligent information, it has been drowned out by a perpetual need for argument and
Insulting the opposition. The latter I firmly believe has caused a situation where people have 'Switched Off' , 'Stuck their fingers in their ears' and 'Simply not listening'.
