.... almost want the other side to win, simply because the follow up to the result would be so much more interesting? Yes, I know that is completely irresponsible. hmm

Blimey talk about an age of uncertainty.

No 10 must be in a state of panic. Wonder what Brussels is thinking

daphnedill Fri 24-Jun-16 02:42:54

Oh jeeze!

POGS Fri 24-Jun-16 02:41:54

Northern Ireland might be Leave?

daphnedill Fri 24-Jun-16 02:41:35

Newcastle

daphnedill Fri 24-Jun-16 02:41:16

But why? They're nuts (sorry, anniebach)

POGS Fri 24-Jun-16 02:40:27

Along age lines.

Joan Bakewell said that and a young man in the studio with her told her how wrong she was. That was on ITV.

Has there been a result from the north of England for remain?

daphnedill Fri 24-Jun-16 02:40:21

The London result will be important.

Do you think Scotland, London, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar and a few cities could declare independence?

It's ironic, because London generates more wealth than any other area of the country.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 24-Jun-16 02:38:41

I thought Wales would be Leave.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 24-Jun-16 02:38:04

North Tyneside is Leave. shock

daphnedill Fri 24-Jun-16 02:37:48

Surprised at Wales going for Leave. Wales receives a huge amount of EU funding. I really can't see Westminster replacing it.

whitewave Fri 24-Jun-16 02:36:52

Yes undoubtedly we can see a polarization - the centre is becoming a wilderness with the population fleeing to one side or another.
Bloody hell

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 24-Jun-16 02:35:14

That's my local area. It's not my constituency, I'm next door.

whitewave Fri 24-Jun-16 02:34:23

Could also be along age lines.

daphnedill Fri 24-Jun-16 02:33:43

@ whitewave

There's something new going on with political leanings.

Nuneaton was a bellweather seat in the 2015 election, which was won by the Conservatives. It's just voted Leave. The BNP councillors won a couple of seats a few years ago, so clearly there are people unhappy with the state of the country. Politicians need to find out why. I really think we're living in scarey times - not just in the UK.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 24-Jun-16 02:31:38

I don't think Labour's John McDonnell has it quite right by saying it's going a bit like a by-election, "...with many people airing their "grievances" - about austerity and wage freezes." It's more like the local elections were we see lots of protest votes.

whitewave Fri 24-Jun-16 02:27:44

As expected University towns voting remain

whitewave Fri 24-Jun-16 02:25:48

Markets are looking dodgy as predicted. Suggestion that the B/E may have to step in.

POGS Fri 24-Jun-16 02:22:44

I am finding Sky are better for showing the vote results , their format is easier to follow.

Hopping between channels 3, 130 and 132.

This is going to be so close to call.

daphnedill Fri 24-Jun-16 02:21:51

Mine will probably be Leave, despite voting over 50% Conservative in the last election. It's not poor, but it's 'Essex Man' (which isn't a groundless stereotype).

whitewave Fri 24-Jun-16 02:21:33

Yes , but before then they need to look at the reasons people voted as they did. If its because the w/c are pissed off then I'm not sure what they could have done

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 24-Jun-16 02:19:21

The analysis of the voting is going to be very interesting and I think Labour might be in for a hammering.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 24-Jun-16 02:17:49

My local area might be as high as 80% Leave. confused

whitewave Fri 24-Jun-16 02:13:54

Not sure pogs. Undoubtedly the poorer areas are voting leave which is no surprise, they might just as well kick Cameron as nothing else will change. The surprise is the depth of that vote

merlotgran Fri 24-Jun-16 02:11:25

I need a coffee.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 24-Jun-16 02:11:02

I did wonder about starting a new thread for the results, but as we were chatting on this one, there didn't seem much point.

BBC is asking for people to get in touch, who didn't get to vote because of the rain and transport problems in London. Might explain why the London turnout is lower than expected.
