I think it will be interesting to track what the result of the vote brings us. Good or bad.

Friday 24 th June

Result out.

France wants to renegotiate the Le Touquet agreement

£ has the biggest drop since 1985

Mark Carney moved to try to steady the markets

Scottish first minister suggested that they are highly likely to go for a second referendum

I think it's been said before that Ruth Davidson couldn't be because of EVEL. You can't have a PM who can't vote for lots of laws.

obieone Sun 26-Jun-16 17:10:43

Nicola Sturgeon may have a clear vision, but hasn't she got knocked back by the EU?

mcem Sun 26-Jun-16 16:47:55

suzie although the timetable is far from clear, I guess you'd have plenty of time to move north and get yourselves on the electoral roll before the second referendum!

suzied Sun 26-Jun-16 15:33:06

We have seriously discussed relocating to Scotland, as have some members of my family. We do have relatives there.

Beammeupscottie Sun 26-Jun-16 15:29:49

Count me in. In all my 70 odd years I have never been so ashamed of this poor little country. I hope the football team gets a kick in the goollies tomorrow as a symbolic gesture and if Andy Murray wins Wimbledon, he does it for Scotland.

Mamie Sun 26-Jun-16 15:22:10

Apparently IDS said something like, "our promises were only a series of possibilities". hmm

mcem Sun 26-Jun-16 15:18:00

I'd add that, although I never have and probably never will vote tory, we also have a credible leader of the opposition in Ruth Davidson. This morning in my local independent coffee shop the (Polish) chef/owner was happy to say he was glad he'd brought his wife to Scotland and proud that his baby son was born here last year.
Any more potential immigrants?

durhamjen Sun 26-Jun-16 15:04:28

Because she is not a member of the UK parliament, but the Scottish one.
Shame really, I agree. Perhaps if lots of us moved to Scotland we could.

suzied Sun 26-Jun-16 14:38:06

Why can't the English vote for Nicola Sturgeon?

durhamjen Sun 26-Jun-16 14:31:10

There could be more of us dressed by Oxfam in the near future, scottie. Maybe his stock will rise.

Beammeupscottie Sun 26-Jun-16 14:24:24

I am becoming more and more impressed with Nicola Sturgeon. She is the only British politician with a clear view. The English politicians resemble headless chickens and it serves them right. She is also beautifully dressed and groomed unlike the fat, dishevelled, just-got-out-of-bed look sported by BJ and the slightly batty, dressed by Oxfam look modelled by JC with the batty, bewildered MG following closely. Whoever said do not judge by appearances was wrong. What the eye likes the ear listens to.

"Cameron has already consigned himself to the longest obituary in political history, given that he is a relatively young man, by delivering the Brexit vote. Hard to imagine, but his legacy may be worse than Blair’s. And not a single realistic UK politician will want to join him by being seen as the person who guarantees we leave. No wonder Johson and Gove look so sheepish: they realise just how disastrous is the situation that they have created and do not want to share Cameron’s fate.

But there is another reason why no knew will want start the Article 50 process and the EU has already exposed its hand here. It wants the UK to go quickly and so wants Article 50 invoked now. But precisely because doing so gives them all the negotiating power no one in the UK will want to do that. After all, once Article 50 is invoked the EU can say no to absolutely anything the UK suggests, wait two years and see the UK leave empty handed and there would be literally nothing the UK could do about it."

If EU Investors are giving up on GB, that will leave a void. I predict we will be taken over (in the business sense) by Russia and China. England is not GREAT; it hasn't been for decades and will be a bargain hunting ground. People think Politicians run the world but, in fact, Big Business calls the shots and the last thing they are interested in is the Welfare State. Bye-bye NHS; bye-bye Benefits.

whitewave Sun 26-Jun-16 10:40:14

Mcvey an outer not prepared to say what she wants - they bloody don't know. She thinks we need to ask electorate. Well that worked so well last time didn't it?

whitewave Sun 26-Jun-16 10:34:54

Hammond on Gibraltar. We will be less able to protect Gibraltars interests outside the EU. They are totally reliant on Spain.

daphnedill Sun 26-Jun-16 10:26:10

@whitewave

I know. I've visited Gib a few times and one of my neighbours was born there. She's absolutely furious (more than I am).

whitewave Sun 26-Jun-16 10:25:19

Hammond just said that investment into Britain has all but dried up.

He has just said that people were not told the truth. Brexiters have to decide how much of the single market they want and they can't have any of it without free movement. If the decide on going for the single market they will have to go back on the lies they told (can you do that?!) Then they won't get voted in.

durhamjen Sun 26-Jun-16 10:23:30

Actually, they might get £35 million a week. They will not get the £350 million promised.

whitewave Sun 26-Jun-16 10:19:44

Anna Subrey - the first mp to sign the petition. Come on the rest of you

durhamjen Sun 26-Jun-16 10:16:12

Been reading the Guardian and views from EU nationals living here. The younger ones say they will go back home as they feel unwanted. One Bulgarian doctor said they would want him to stay because he is a doctor, but why would he want to when he has no rights?
How many EU doctors work here in our NHS, the one that is not going to be given £35 million a week according to IDS this morning?

whitewave Sun 26-Jun-16 08:36:10

Moody's downgrading Britain to negative means they expect a long period of uncertainty.
Glad we didn't scaremonger

whitewave Sun 26-Jun-16 07:55:37

daph when you go there it is obvious. There economy is totally bound up with Spain. They simply can't afford to leave the EU they would be bankrupt.

daphnedill Sun 26-Jun-16 07:47:27

Their economy depends on Spain. Support for Mother UK won't pay their bills.

obieone Sun 26-Jun-16 07:38:10

The emotions of Gibraltar are incredibly British, in normal times. More British than Britain I think.
So not sure they are going to be "lost" anytime soon.

whitewave Sun 26-Jun-16 07:28:26

As well as losing Scotland, Cameron appears to be losing Gibraltar as well.
