Given what he was asking was right against the way the EU works, I think Cameron actually got a better result than we could have hoped. You can't stay in the EU and not have free movement, it is one of the basic rules. It should have been IN with the chance to work on the EU from the inside. Nobody (not even Boris) expected the OUT vote. Now we are stuffed.

I am glad we are out of the EU. I think it was awful and always have. Being talked to like naughty children by them...we have dared to vote out , so now the EU are going to punish us. It's pathetic....well, sorry I for one don't like that attitude and never will.

We are naughty children! 50% of the population is also below average intelligence and needs guidance.

Why on earth would they want to make it easy to leave *Yogadatti" your words about "being talked to like naughty children" sound like post-hoc rationalisation to me.

We always had a major part to play in the EU decisions, as one of the larger economies. They never talked to anyone 'like naughty children'; we have left, so we can't have the benefits. What is surprising about that?

Could someone back up the 'naughty children' reference with facts of some sort? And can someone explain 'The EU is going to punish us?'

I wonder if Cameron thought the referendum would produce a remain vote and that criticism of the EU may then quieten down.
For a few weeks I have been reading German newspapers on-line (English).
Juncker was reported as being very angry as Cameron had assured him that he could achieve a 60% remain vote.
I expect that explains why he thought a plan for a leave vote was not required.

Post Brexit...heads of EU states are now agreeing that the EU is overdue for an overall ,which they are keen to address.
Junker and Shultz wish for further expansion and integration into the EU,Merkel is against that and supports reforming the EU without further integration for existing EU states.
It is quite disappointing reading.
Had there been EU reform ,I suspect the vote may have been different.

Cameron's arrogance, along with a lot of other politicians both here and in the EU, got the better of them.

When Cameron came back with virtually nothing, it was obvious they were not going to take much notice of us. Nothing new there.

It will be interesting to see what they do before the Hungary referendum. Nothing much again, I highly suspect.

Though what Merkel wants, Merkel seems to get.

Oh I know, some will laugh, and some will find it pathetic.
But I am wondering- am I the only one? Who feels bereaved- as though I've lost something very dear and important. Feeling vaguely sick all the time, stomach churning with associated d*********a, not sleeping well and waking up in a panic.

I'll own up to it all- and I know DH feels the same. Are we the only ones. And it isn't about the fact we have lost another significant % of our income due to Sterling falling- but deeply emotional- as the future we dreamed of has suddenly vanished.

It concerns me greatly that I want to go on the protest on 5th September but I'm scared that, if I wear anything at all anti brexit on the train journey home I'll be verbally attacked. I've never felt this way in this country . Oh, and I was feeling that prior to the referendum as well.

I would have thought if you wore something pro Brexit, someone might verbally attack you too.

It was a big deal, whichever way the result ended up. And people are bound to still be upset

The point I'm making is that I now live in a country where it isn't safe to wear a t shirt or badge showing what I believe [at least I'm not speaking with a foreign accent though, which is now also unsafe]. Whereas, a few weeks ago I wouldn't have even thought about it. It first happened when I was wearing a remain badge two weeks before the referendum and felt that I could no longer wear it safely. That's how divided I feel the country is now. Brexit people probably don't have to fear the BNP or Britain First lot.

Tegan that is awful. Had no idea it was so bad in some areas. I have been a tad worried about our trip to UK in a couple of months in our French Reg car - for complicated reasons it is actually a UK car and we changed the registration to comply with the laws - about a year ago on a trip to UK the side was keyed in a Tesco car park - and that was before any referendum was talked about.
