Another awful day for France.

It is totally dreadful, but the difference between us and France is the way we treat our migrants. France has pushed them into the banlieus and generally despises them, whilst we accept and try to integrate them. It is a different approach. Although obviously one could not rule out something similar happening here at least we try to have a humane and kindly attitude.

My daughter is currently wallinh in the Pyrenees and I have now started, totally illogically ,to worry about her flying home from Toulouse.Nice is a lovely, pretty town How sad to have it scarred by this

Another pointless, wicked atrocity perpetrated against innocent families out to enjoy a holiday fireworks diplay. Sadly, such random outrages are difficult to defend against in a democracy. All we can do is to resist, to refuse to meet hatred with more hatred, and to avoid bringing ourselves down to their disgusting level.

Devastating news ,why pick on normal happy families out to enjoy themselves I can't understand the mentality of these terrorists.

So very sad for the people of France. It seems nowhere is safe now. What do we do? Cancel all outdoor celebrations, cancel concerts,close restaurants or maybe close all shopping centers and anywhere where large numbers of people meet. Yes that all sounds so wrong but if people stop going to events that's what will happen. I will think twice myself before attending large gatherings. We always go to a Turkey on holiday but have chosen somewhere else this year as I think it's only a matter of time before a resort is targeted. Who knows!

Such a dreadful thing to happen. So barbaric and ultimately futile - and the lives of so many people lost or changed for ever. My DD is in Lyon for the weekend and that is worrying because it is impossible to know where these sick people will appear next. DH AND I are off to our French house today; our part of Normandy is quiet, but who can tell?
What is so appalling about this, is that there is so little that can be done.

So much hatred in the world today .innocent children and people shouldn't have lose. There lives in this horrible way.

I hesitate to say this, but yesterday morning when I realised that it was Bastille day in France the awful thought did cross my mind that terrorists might pick this day to commit another horrible attack. I shook off the thought as paranoid and told myself to stop being stupid.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone caught up in this terrible attack. The French people have suffered so much in the last eighteen months that I wouldn't blame them for feeling outraged and even vengeful.

I am French and it is another sad day for France I agree but what is amazing is the comments of the French President about increasing our presence in Iraq and Syria.. We are still believing as France as a superpower .....sad desillusion ...
The situation will not improve until the French governement decide to put the French People first .... we are governed by liberal who lives in cloud cookoo land ,,,,
What we need is for foreign people wanting to settle in France to respect France and Our customs .. They would be uproar if a westerner settling in Saudi Arabia asked the local to use western customs and stop wearing hijab and convert to Christianity ... I can see all these westerner losing their head with a sword ..
But in France we accept, that some area of France are forbidden to women unless they wear hijab and are with a man.... In Germany a pupil refused to shake the hand of a teacher because she was a woman and so on ... There is open call for France to become a muslim country....under Free Speech Banner ... Amazing .

I agree with views posted. Such a terrible thing for someone to do. How on earth it is seen as justifiable in some minds I will never comprehend. Prayers for all concerned.

The thought of those innocent children, one minute excited about the fireworks, the next this. It makes me want to scream.

This atrocity is beyond evil. I am so angry and full of hatred for the perpetrators that I want to scream. However, my rational brain knows that this is a useless response so I need to do something positive and appropriate.

I agree with michel55. We're all too soft and accommodating. I hadn't used to feel this way but find my attitude is hardening every time something like this happens.

Pray for Nice. Sadly this attack adds yet more fuel to Donald Trump style of politics.

My friends are in Juan-les-Pins, where they have a house, at the moment, not far from Nice and they fly into Nice airport. I had a text this morning to say they are OK, thank goodness. According to the news, the perpetrator has no known links to terrorism and was obviously crazy and just jumping on the terrorism bandwagon. I feel sorry for Tunisia as well, as it is a lovely, peaceful, country, where we also have friends, whom I have visited many times, and apparently the man who carried out this terrible atrocity was a French Tunisian, so Tunisia will get lots of flak about being a hotbed of terrorism, when nothing could be further from the truth - the Tunisians are just as upset as we are. When the beach attacks in Sousse took place, my Tunisian friend, Latifa, whom I have known for 50 years, rang up and apologised to me, when it wasn't even Tunisians who carried out the attacks. We shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush - it is only an idiotic minority who carry out these attacks.

If hatred begets more hate in response, the original haters have won, and will rejoice...

I was sitting at my computer last night while the news was being broadcast. I was almost physically sick. My sister is in France and is flying home tomorrow. Many times I have stood on the Promenade des Anglais and thought how lovely it is. How can anybody maim and kill so many innocent people? I think it is now time to microchip the known security risks, when they get within a given distance of a venue they can be removed. They have the capability to remove a single person on a motorcycle
how hard would it be to locate a truck? I hope the perpetrators rot in hell for eternity

The more soft we are the more terror they bring. As and when they wish they have the the upper hand with the element of surprise. The time has come for the tables to turn. How many more innocent man women and children must suffer before something positive is done. Trump is right, it is an act of war and should be treated as such.

I will not stop hating them. I despise them.
