This could and probably will go on for yearsgrin

Just to note that as well as Japan putting down markers, Australia has advised that we will behind the EU in any trade negotiations.

petra Sun 02-Oct-16 18:57:56

People keep saying "we want answers" how can someone give an answer to--horse trading-- negotiations that haven't started yet. I just hope that our chaps are good Brag or Poker players.

And it always seems to be the Remainers who are impatient for action and answers - just so they can pick holes in them, I suspect.

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 19:10:46

Yet another Guardian link. Surely everyone on the left has already read it, and no one else will want to.

daphnedill Sun 02-Oct-16 19:10:59

Did I write that I 'wanted' answers? I don't think so. What I wrote was that May didn't really give any. Her speech said nothing much more than 'Brexit means Brexit' which is meaningless.

The Brexiteers, especially Fox and Davis, seem very fond of giving answers, but they don't seem to check with the boss first. Despite headlines, none of them have said very much at all, because (as you quite rightly say) they don't know. Perhaps they should stop pretending that they do.

daphnedill Sun 02-Oct-16 19:13:24

Judging by the Comments after Guardian articles, quite a few right-wing nutjobs read it too.

Why wouldn't people want to read it, if nothing else to find out different opinions?

daphnedill Sun 02-Oct-16 19:15:07

Not impatient for action at all. It's Davis & Co who want to invoke Article 50 yesterday. As far as I'm concerned, it can drag on for another few decades.

daphnedill Sun 02-Oct-16 19:16:25

I appear to have walked into Sniping Sunday, so I think I'll go and do something more worthwhile. I'm sure I've got some paint to watch dry somewhere.

durhamjen Sun 02-Oct-16 19:16:50

Didn't you say you wanted to know who the pundits are?
No pleasing some people.

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 19:22:42

No, I didn't say I wanted to know who the pundits are.

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 19:23:56

Daphnedill did, but she apparently has important paint to watch.

durhamjen Sun 02-Oct-16 19:28:20

Didn't give a name. Just said you. Strange that you think I am responding to you. I try not to.

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 19:33:25

Can't say I'm cut to the quick!

I wouldn't bother responding to you either but those links, especially without any text whatsoever, are just so annoying. People on Gransnet don't need spoonfeeding.

granjura Sun 02-Oct-16 21:38:08

Ana, your comments are just so rude, truly, and so personal too.

Thank you for the Guardian link DJ, very interesting. And no, Ana, we don't all have the Guardian or read it daily- so links are more than useful. Giving links is not 'spoon feeding' but giving more information, which anyone can choose to ignore (although I'd say in any intelligent debate, to make an informed decision, reading variety of links is truly essential).

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 21:47:06

You could always read the Guardian online, granjura.

I don't think my posts to durhamjen have been any more 'rude and personal' than those from her to me have been.

granjura Sun 02-Oct-16 21:52:35

Yes, I could read all the papers on line, and the Swiss ones, the French ones, the US ones, the ....

so no,I have other things to do, thanks. I am therefore very grateful to be given links to relevant articles.

And you are clearly playing he person rather than the ball here, again -it is very obvious.

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 22:08:42

But the links given on here are only relevant to the view held by that poster. Surely it's better to make up one's own mind?

granjura Sun 02-Oct-16 22:10:49

to make up your mind, you need to look at evidence from all sides - not just the ones you fancy- surely. That is why it is called 'balanced' and 'informed'. Only reading The Sun and the DM is hardly going to deliver that. Truly.

Ana Sun 02-Oct-16 22:20:40

Exactly. Read a broad choice, not just the Guardian.

I read today that employees of Nissan say they will not be blackmailed by their boss.
I despair of people at times.
British Bulldog spirit might have been okay 70 or 80 years ago, but I thought we wanted to be part of the world outside Europe.

whitewave Mon 03-Oct-16 06:43:16

Reference to Richard Murphy and Hard Brexit.

It may be what the Brexiters are heading towards, but there is a long way to go and nothing else is in the mix yet. I think we need to wait and see what unfolds. They have to convince parliament for a start and May does not have a majority when it comes to Brexit, and knows it. There are a lot of senior Tories waiting in the wings for a wrong move.
We also haven't yet seen what the EU is going to offer, and it could well be one we would be idiots to refusehmm
She may well come to regret appointing those daft buggers Johnson and Fox.

MaizieD Mon 03-Oct-16 11:15:08

I read today that employees of Nissan say they will not be blackmailed by their boss.

Do you have a link to that, dj?

Because I cannot believe that even the Sunderland Brexiters could say anything so utterly stupid...

or could they?

Jalima Mon 03-Oct-16 11:44:33

some paint to watch dry that made me laugh ddil as I had been doing just that, watchng DIL paint ad wondering how long it would take to dry or would the DGD get it on themselves first.

Sorry, an irrelevance, back to the OP - or the online papers

rosesarered Mon 03-Oct-16 11:44:36

Did he really say 'those daft buggers' etc ww or are you paraphrasing?grin wishing you well (from the flu jab) as I am feeling the same as you.

Tegan Mon 03-Oct-16 11:51:15

Given that Nissan were quite clear about where they stood, pre referendum, yes I don't doubt that the Sunderland brexiteers have got an attitude of 'were not going to be blackmailed by the people who provide employment for many thousands of people here, along with all the subsidiary companies'. Some of them were so high profile afterwards that I wouldn't like to be in their shoes if their friends/neighbours lose their jobs. However, it won't happen because with our new found freedom and control well have to give Nissan whatever deal they want in order to keep them here, and it ain't gonna be a cheap one.
