First blood to Trump

Trump will be inaugurated in 16 days time. Ford has recognised this new era.

How will his Junta of advisors deal with the political world?

Will Trump continue to govern by twitter?

Will his erratic behaviour stop?

Will he be less muddled in his thinking?

What will happen to NATO and article 5?

Will the world survive his environmental policy - such that it is?

Will America be able to contain him?

Some excellent callers this morning on Katie Hopkins's show on LBC, saying why did the allegedly feminist women who protested against Trump not turn out to protest against the grooming of our girls by Muslim sex abusers, and also against the assaults and rape of German women by Muslim immigrant men.

The women who marched are brainwashed and do not see the inconsistency and irrationality of the doctrine they have been tricked into accepting.

"Trumps rant of "America First, America first" carries an echo of "Sieg Heil" of another not-forgotten era of brutish nationalist triumphalism."

We can also see shades of the 30s in the "othering" that is going on in crass, ignorant broadcasting. Anyone breaking the rule of law will and should be punished. The difference is they are not a world leader with world influence.

Mair Sun 22-Jan-17 13:35:24

Why is China investing in the factory to build all the flat pack houses - to make a profit from UK workers. Why on earth didn't the Govt put the money in to open the factory making these units?

Which you didn't touch on. But which is really the more interesting question.

I did actually, pointing out that Trump favours protctionism, as Welshwife appears to do.
I dont think the bit about China needs answering as its very obvious

But you havent touched on the secon half of my answer to Welshwife, the bit which IMO is the most relevant part of my response (the first point is obvious)

Because thats what free market capitalism is all about, maximising profit and foreign workers are cheaper!
Where the business cannot be moved abroad, hospitality , agriculture warehousing, employers want to import cheap foreign workers - which you are all for Welsh! Dontt you see the contradiction in your logic?

Mair the grooming of girls is illegal and is dealt with by the law as is sexual assault. What would women demonstrate about? The fact that this was Muslim men doing this? Women have demonstrated against male violence for a long time, and this led to the establishment of women's refuges. Violence against women is not confined to one race or religion. If the current government succeeds in closing women's refuges as is happening we will no doubt demonstrate again.
Demonstrating against one thing does not mean we will not demonstrate against others. This was about a President who is against abortion and treats and speaks about women in an appalling way
Check out about WASP and women demonstrating about pensions for another example.

"Trumps rant of "America First, America first"

I wonder what people picking on this to try to demonise Trump as a Nazi (when he so clearly is not), would have suggested as a succinct synonym that he could have used instead, to make his point?

MaizieD Sun 22-Jan-17 13:46:01

But you havent touched on the secon half of my answer to Welshwife,

I didn't think it needed any comment. It's common knowledge. It's also extremely problematical.

I don't think that we can turn back the clock to protectionism.

whitewave Sun 22-Jan-17 13:51:19

"See he's instituting a new holiday. "National day of patriotism" feels more like "national day of Trump" Once again there are disturbing echoes of the marching armies, flag waving and mass rallies of the 30s Europe. We have the benefit of knowing where this may lead. I hope America understands it as well.

See he's still trying to push his own "truth" what an idiot.

Welshwife Sun 22-Jan-17 13:51:34

No Mair I do not approve of protectionism but I do think that it does the country no good to see all profit going out of the country. UK workers would get their wages but maybe if the Govt were to finance the project the goods would be cheaper - we have a housing crisis and the more efficient and cost effective they can be the more that can be built. I also think that as a nation the UK should be careful as to which foreign investment they allow and in which sector.
Nissan has been very successful in the NE but is once again talking of re- evaluating the investment when the Brexit deal becomes clear - taking that fioreign money away will have a devasting effect on the area - would probably be less likely with a UK company.

We have to balance foreign investment with the growth of British business - the UK was a very productive country until most industry was allowed to close etc.

'America First' was a movement which campaigned against U.S. involvement in World War II before 1941 and expressed sympathy for the Nazis. They claimed that Jewish Americans were pushing Americans towards war. They also claimed that the biggest enemy of America was Jewish “ownership and influence in our motion pictures, our press, our radio and our government.”

Well, we know that Trump doesn't like film stars or the arts.

His use of 'America First' is totally crass!

daphnedill Sun 22-Jan-17 14:14:11

Former KKK leader, David Duke, wrote:

"Trump Inauguration Speech Declares War on the Neocons & Promotes Our Slogan “America First!"

"We couldn’t have asked for more in Trump’s Inauguration Speech!"

'America First' was a movement which campaigned against U.S. involvement in World War II before 1941 and expressed sympathy for the Nazis.

Yes we know...

But still no synonym suggested by you to express his sentiments succinctly while avoiding the essential and common sense phrase.

Mair Sun 22-Jan-17 14:45:16

Jewish “ownership and influence in our motion pictures, our press, our radio and our government.”

Well, we know that Trump doesn't like film stars or the arts.

Fallacy of false cause.
He dislikes film stars and many in the arts because they are globalists who hate him, and have persistently been rude about him, both those who are Jewish descent and those who are of ethnic European descent.

MaizieD Sun 22-Jan-17 14:50:19

How about those of ethnic African and Asian descent, Mair? Don't miss anyone out.

Elegran Sun 22-Jan-17 14:53:31

They are all out of step but our Donald, then?

Anya Sun 22-Jan-17 14:58:17

The women who marched are brain washed.... Piffle! Rubbish!

What a load of bollocks!

trisher Sun 22-Jan-17 15:01:01

The film stars and artist in the US still remember the McCarthy era and fear a repetition. Freedom to express themselves is a real issue. You don't have to be a globalist to acknowledge climate change, speak about and treat women with respect and recognise immigrants can be beneficial for a country.

daphnedill Sun 22-Jan-17 15:05:27

Oh, I think at least one GNer thinks she's in step too! So that makes two of them!

whitewave Sun 22-Jan-17 15:10:14

See Putin is still playing Trump for a fool. "Putin has succeeded in outmanoeuvring Trump every step of the way to the White House. Putins cyber meddling in the election helped Trump, but it has also compromised him. Earlier we heard that Russia holdsembarrassing personal material about the President. This unproven claim has further undermined him. Now Putin is playing hard to get, any bi-lateral summit will not take place for several months. Russia is making no promises. Not for the first time on the global stage, Trump is being taken for a fool"

whitewave Sun 22-Jan-17 16:13:34

Wouldn't you think that the President if the US, should have higher things to focus on than the amount of people attending his swearing in. He is seriously suffering from delayed development.

whitewave Sun 22-Jan-17 16:40:00

I am beginning to wonder how many Trumps there are. The Trump we see opening and shouting his mouth always talks about Donald Trump so I assume there are least 2 Trumps.

daphnedill Sun 22-Jan-17 16:46:58

I agree with you about the delayed development, whitewave. This is the kind of behaviour I had to deal with when teaching (not very bright) 12 year olds with an exaggerated sense of entitlement. I sincerely hope that the US and the world don't have to put up with him for four years. He's turning America into a laughing stock, apart from amongst those who are similarly afflicted.

daphnedill Sun 22-Jan-17 16:49:16

I bet Putin can't believe his luck!

Mair Sun 22-Jan-17 17:58:49

Agree with you there DD!wink
