The Trump presidency

Lots of the Trumpregrets tweets are saying the same, he's embarrassing them, he needs to start acting like a president, you are losing support, you look like a fool.

He needs to start acting like a statesman, not a businessman and a bully. That word came up quite a lot, too.

For those who think Trump and Brexit are not the same, someone said, "What will we leave for our children and grandchildren?" when talking about waterways. Concern for the climate in both countries.

Almost half of the US vote was anti-Trump almost half the British EU referendum was for remaining. Not a small minority. That is a pretty divided picture!

iam, I don't see Nick Cohen as unhinged either. As I've already said, he's a very good writer. It's just that one or two things of his I've read recently have struck me as a bit OTT in intensity. Just a personal feeling. It may even pass.

And no, I can't remember what the things I found OTT were about now.

I certainly don't feel forgotten/ ignored/excluded/undermined though and I voted to leave the EU so did half of my family and friends.There are lots of reasons people voted for Brexit.
Voting for Trump was probably complex as well, and I think he only did so well because of the antipathy to Clinton.

I don't think people (Trump supporters generally) see Trump as part of the political elite that they feel has failed them. That's why they voted for him. Clinton they did see as part of the political elite. Trump's a political outsider.

I remember so many saying on the Republican side that all would be different when he bacame president. Perhaps that is what they were banking on. Wait and see-ery isn't always a good move.

There is no option to wait and see though...he is the President and that's it.

No, but it might feel like a good move when the alternative is same old same old which is how I think many Trump voters saw it.

Whether they were right remains to be seen, but I think they were voting against the status quo which is what Clinton represented.

This is what some of us have been trying to make clear, ww. It's the left behinds that swung it because they felt left behind by status quo politics.

Considering the furore that each of his moves is unleashing, that seems improbable.

Amongst the many directives he is issuing, one that creates much worry is the threat in certain Republican states to curb anti-Trump protests. That is one to watch and to cause more concern.
