Watching the news not involving brexit, Trump TV is fascinating.

We have a family member who very seriously believes that Trump has been sent by God to save the world. She posts all sorts of articles from publications praising him and how Christian he is and we should not worry as it will all gradually become clear. She also posts anything she can find which is in anyway anti Muslim.
Does anyone have any knowledge about a publication - Jews-news - often the articles are from that. She also posts anything she comes across anti Obama - so much is his fault!

Yes, apparently Milania was mocked for saying the Lord's prayer at a meeting in Florida, for not having an American accent. I read this in Hansard in the debate re: State visit. I forget which MP reported it and said it was awful that she was being subjected to such racism. Well, I agree, but she's married to one of the biggest racists I've ever heard.

When I was a small boy, the word trump referred to the breaking of wind. Parents called it 'a fart'. Things haven't changed much have they?

It's more important than ever that people learn to evaluate and analyse the information they're being fed.

See trumpty dumpy is considering re-opening Guantanamo. Probably so he can set up all the torture he's so keen on. The first one I'd send there is Milo Yiannopolous. We certainly do not want him back here. Perhaps a touch of water boarding would knock some sense into him.

Lies, half lies, half truths, being economical with the truth, post truth......all just the same things, and we have always had to be careful about what we believe, and to evaluate and analyse.

I don't agree. What we now have is on a completely different scale.

Roses, it's true we have always had to be well informed and we valuation information from the news media but Trump takes this to an unprecedented level. Fake news, alternative facts, give us a break.

It isn't just trumpty it is his advisors as well in their publications like Brietbart.

I really don't think people will accept the twisting of truth and the throwing out of verbal emoticons in exchange for truth for long but the question is what damage this can do while we get to that point. It certainly hasn't just been the trampling trump doing it; we saw it on both sides in the referendum and people chose to believe obvious exaggerations and down-right lies so there is no reason to believe that those who want the 'ping' society in the US with everything solved or explained in an instant won't choose to go along with the ideas presented in this way.

It is up to us to look at reliable sources, fact check and question the verbal diarrhoea.

I think sometimes when facts are presented in opposition to what people prefer to believe they are simply dismissed.

Several UK newspapers have been, quite knowingly, printing lies for years. So we should have had plenty of practice spotting them.
e.g. The Express seems to run a shock-horrow weather story very frequently. 2 days of sun is forecast and it's going to be a soaring/sizzling/heatwave etc.
And then there was our esteemed Foreign Secretary, when he was a newspaper journalist, making up stories about straight bananas.

My rule of thumb is to divide all Express headlines by 10. Sometimes difficult when it is just hyperbolic adjectives but it's a knack quickly learned
