Apologies if there is a new Trump thread, but the only one I could find had hit the magic 1000 posts mark.
Just seen this on Facebook. Makes excellent sense.

This is scary. People could end up in prison for decades for protesting against trump.

Late to the discussion but when is his proposed state visit? I hope there will be demonstrations protesting this.

MaizieD Mon 05-Jun-17 10:56:20

Well, it seems that he's thinking of popping over to see us this week to show how much he supports us in the wake of the London atrocities. It wouldn't be a State visit, of course but it would be a nice use of our overstretched security forces and a welcome diversion from the General Election wouldn't it? wink

Responses to this suggestion in my twitter timeline don't reveal much gratitude for his kind and caring suggestion...being mostly unrepeatable grin

Do we need this? Can we not tell him to b****r off?

AlieOxon Mon 05-Jun-17 11:29:11

State visit is October, I read.
We do not need him ....anytime!

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 14:37:09

Perhaps HM will use her royal prerogative and say NO.

Or 'Just what part of NO don't you understand?'

Lazigirl Mon 05-Jun-17 17:28:53

I can't believe the invitation for him to visit can stand after his unsupportive tweets about Sadiq Khan. What if our PM had done similar after 9/11? Why can't TM be more assertive with him I wonder. confused

Because May is desparate to keep in because of Brexit

whitewave Mon 05-Jun-17 18:25:57

shock Trump is getting worse!

durhamjen Mon 05-Jun-17 19:11:47

Khan has said that he doesn't think trump's state visit this year is a good idea.
Master of understatement.

durhamjen Mon 05-Jun-17 22:29:46

The media have been told to stop obsessing about trump's tweets.
Shouldn't trump just be told to stop tweeting?

durhamjen Mon 05-Jun-17 22:57:07

France's response to trump.

whitewave Tue 06-Jun-17 12:13:58

Someone said yesterday that the tweets are presidential announcements, as that is the way he is communicating.

I see that he intends the USA withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council

whitewave Tue 06-Jun-17 16:18:44

No visit then by Trump - largely because he is worried about his reception.

angelab Tue 06-Jun-17 16:56:50

ww - how disappointing, I thought he really wasn't coming!

Trump has violated the constitution by blocking twitter users!

durhamjen Wed 07-Jun-17 17:07:58

21 children taking trump to court over their right to a clean climate.

It's on www.avaaz.org if you want to read about it.

whitewave Wed 07-Jun-17 17:18:55

I can see Trumps small hands all over what is happening between Saudi and Qatar

whitewave Wed 07-Jun-17 18:12:31

Every single one of the witnesses giving evidence to the senate about Trump answered with "it isn't appropriate to talk about this"

Now who reckons they've been nobbled?

whitewave Thu 08-Jun-17 11:14:17

For those who will get the jitters from lack of political debate there is the Comey witness today - should be good.

whitewave Thu 08-Jun-17 15:20:19

Comey starting to speak

Ginny42 Thu 08-Jun-17 15:33:37

It's stunning and I'm willing Comey to be absolutely coherent, articulate and honest. Phew! Scary stuff.

whitewave Thu 08-Jun-17 15:37:21

I can't see how Trump will survive.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 08-Jun-17 16:36:24

Comey is doing a good job so far.

No doubt he'll be called a traitor by millions. I get the impression most Trump supporters believe he has absolute power and that every person employed by the government has to do what he says. Ironic that those same supporters don't realise they want him to act like a dictator.

whitewave Thu 08-Jun-17 16:50:45

Well the checks and balances that exist should be there to prevent exactly that
