Labour now

What these people have to say about Labour as it is now struck cords with me.

Peter Hurst (@peterleohurst)
'Blue labour types' right about 1thing: many trad Labour voters more conservative than many third wayers/centrists care to acknowledge.
2. That conservatism with a small 'c' includes things like loving the royal family and being proud of being British. Social dems might not
3. win via 'riding the tiger of nationalism' but they wont win via the old 'New' Labour formulation either. The 5 million voters lost
4. During the years 1997-2010 are not going to return to a party that is, in effect, the lib dems in drag Iain. prospectmagazine.co.uk/magazine/labou…

I have noticed that Westminster does appear to believe that the only function of the north is to reliably vote Labour. And we don't now.
For as long as UKIP, the Labour left and fringe batshittery is the only alternative to Lab up here the Tories will clean up.
'Why would working class people vote Tory'. Because they cant vote Labour and the alternative is UKIP. In a nutshell.
One of the striking things about the left is this shock at working class tories, and working class people who dont want their revolution.

The photo is Hurst's Twitter profile. What it says seems well put too.

I couldn't care less what constituency you live in! Does that somehow prove that you aren't a Labour supporter? confused

whitewave Sun 26-Feb-17 21:14:54

Well there is very little you do seem to care about. Sad

Ana Sun 26-Feb-17 21:19:56

What an extremely nasty post, whitewave.

Please tell me why the constituency you live in indicates your political alliance.

Do you have to move each time the party you didn't vote for gets in?

rosesarered Sun 26-Feb-17 21:21:53

Being a little disingenuous there ww I feel.........
All the posters that I have noticed on here have been forthright in their support of either Labour or Corbyn.
Of course nobody is on a list, but dj was simply wrong in her assertion that more Conservatives were on here than Labour voters, simple as that, so no need for anyone to get hot under the collar about it.

whitewave Sun 26-Feb-17 21:23:15

But ana you are making assumptions about me which you apparently find ok, but when I make assumptions about how you feel you call it nasty. I was merely indicating that you are not necessarily correct in assuming I vote Labour.

GracesGranMK2 Sun 26-Feb-17 21:23:33

This feels very wrong. In a world where journalism is being supressed and lies, if told with enough confidence, outstrip the thoughts of experts, we have people making lists of the presumed voting intentions of posters by mere association with views discussed on here. Is this going to turn into some sort of McCarthyism for Grannies?

Ana, you say "If it's any consolation, you're in the last group, GGMk2 ...". It is no consolation to be honest. What if you are upset by something I write - does that put on a list of ... what? I cannot understand the need to do this.

trisher Sun 26-Feb-17 21:23:34

Oh dear political debate squashed by pointless personal squabbling again. I despair of GN when some people can get into such pointless petty arguments on the 'mine's bigger than yours' scale.

rosesarered Sun 26-Feb-17 21:26:02

Are some posters ashamed of being Labour voters? hmm

whitewave Sun 26-Feb-17 21:27:11

For whom do you and ana vote rose?

rosesarered Sun 26-Feb-17 21:28:03

Yes trisher I have no idea why durhamjen felt the need to comment on the numbers in the first place.....but since she did ( and got it wrong) it is no crime to put it right.

Ana Sun 26-Feb-17 21:29:25

Well there is very little you do seem to care about. Sad

Certainly nastier than assuming someone is a Labour supporter.

whitewave Sun 26-Feb-17 21:30:44

And I pointed out that when I suggested that Mair was a ukip supporter I got zapped. Ana had listed me amongst others as Labour supporters, and I suggested that she had committed a cardinal sin.

I have now asked her how she votes.

rosesarered Sun 26-Feb-17 21:31:33

I have no idea about Ana but the last time I voted it was for the Lib Dems ( so I am in the last group) nobody has to say if they don't want to, but the ones that have been forthright about it in the past are fairly obvious.

rosesarered Sun 26-Feb-17 21:33:29

If you are not a Labour supporter then say so WW why all the sudden coyness?

Ana Sun 26-Feb-17 21:35:01

Ana, you say "If it's any consolation, you're in the last group, GGMk2 ...". It is no consolation to be honest. What if you are upset by something I write - does that put on a list of ... what? I cannot understand the need to do this.

Gracesgran, you are on no 'list' apart from the one I mentioned.

If I am upset by something you write I'll either say something to you or ignore it. Why don't you ask durhamjen why she said there were more Tory posters on this thread than Labour?

I notice she's staying very quiet.

whitewave Sun 26-Feb-17 21:35:14

When did you last vote rose?!!!!! Let me guess 1987, and have been on a right wing journey ever since to arrive at the point of being alongside Ghengis Khan grin

Ana Sun 26-Feb-17 21:37:52

PS I hav voted for all three of the major parties in my time. I'll decide nearer to the next election which it will be next time, if that's all right with you whitewave.

rosesarered Sun 26-Feb-17 21:40:06

certainly Petra and Eloethan amongst others have championed the Labour cause, and dj and * ab* amongst others, I never realised that anybody would be suddenly shy of committing to Labour, it doesn't make any kind of sense!

whitewave Sun 26-Feb-17 21:40:45

Fine ana carry on.

whitewave Sun 26-Feb-17 21:41:46

Is this harassment rose or trolling I can never understand the difference.

rosesarered Sun 26-Feb-17 21:42:24

WW it was the last GE, and I have to ask .......are you feeling quite all right, you sound as if you may explode at any point?
Do forgive if I thought you may be a Labour supporter!

whitewave Sun 26-Feb-17 21:49:31

I am feeling totally calm and at peace. Merely passing the time as I watch SS GB. I should stop whilst you are ahead if I were you.

What I vote is no ones business whatsoever that's why it is a secret ballot. You may make assumptions from what I say here on GN about the way I vote but in fact you are absolutely clueless because it is SECRET.

rosesarered Sun 26-Feb-17 21:50:15

what a storm in a teacup.

whitewave Sun 26-Feb-17 21:51:47

I take it from that you have conceded my point?

rosesarered Sun 26-Feb-17 21:51:48

I could never pass the time on here when watching SSGB ......it's too good for that.
