Look WW you could be a closet UKIP supporter for all that interests me, but the very denial about the Labour Party is fascinating.Sure, the way that any of us votes is by secret ballot, though you were hardly quiet about Mair it has to be said , and look what you just said about me upthread ( hardly calm and at peace!)

I'm not enraged! I am about as far from enraged as I could be. I merely pointed out to ana that when I suggested that a poster voted a certain way I got zapped. That is all, I then was told by the pair of you that I was ashamed(what ?) or afraid to admit how I voted. Just how silly is that. I am to be honest sat here a tad (oh sorry ana that should have been bit- yeh in your dreams) amused at the silliness of it all. In the scheme of things it doesn't matter a jot does it?

Actually roses reported me for repeating what she had told us about her previous voting. I actually had to show GNHQ evidence that she had said it - now lists are made of assumptions.

News just in that Gerald Kaufman has sadly died, so there'll be another by election. Manchester Gorton is one of the safest Labour seats in the country and voted strongly for Remain.

It will be interesting to see who's selected as a candidate. If Labour messes this one up, Labour really are in trouble, although the LDs' percentage will also be interesting. There are thousands of Manchester Uni students in the area. Ukip stands no chance.

I can't imagine a day when Gorton won't vote in a Labour MP. Let's hope the area gets a good candidate because it needs good representation

The Green Party came second in 2015. Less than 10% of the vote, like all the other main parties, but still!

They came second in Bristol, too, with 27% of the vote.
It would be good to see another Green Party MP. Caroline Lucas must be getting lonely.

Been avoiding the political threads but just read Bags' OP and have to say that nailed it.

But, there's a slight change of flavour to the Labour Leadership just lately, if I'm not mistaken. Firstly The Look. JC has smartened his image up, in a sort of smart/casual sort of way. I was quite fond on his knitted jumper (made by mum) and his reasons for wearing it, but do admire his later efforts towards a touch of gravitas.

Secondly, he's actually started speaking out against this government. I was dismayed at his lack of Efficient Opposition, but now he's found his voice and it's a promising start.

Thirdly he had a Trump-like attitude towards the Media, but I noticed he is now starting to realise that they are better on-side. I had to LOL watching him on TV news last night when he had finished the interview he remembered (just in time) to give a smile to the interviewer. I could almost hear his coach saying 'remember to smile Jeremy '

I can't stand the Len McClusky (?) style of Unionism, and the way he has his hand up the backside of recent labour leaders like a glove puppet. It is he who has manipulated (!) the last two leadership elections. Now that link is weakening, but that could mean one of two things. Either he'll dump his support of Jeremy, just when he's starting to show potential as a leader, or JC will show that he has more leadership potential than we've yet seen.

It's a wait and see situation.

That ( glove puppet) scenario made me laugh Anya , and I think that Len Mc will drop his support of Corybn, but as you say, it's a wait and see situation.
