Quoting breaking news in the Guardian. Davis is quoted as saying...

“The government is clear in its aims: a deal that works for every nation and region of the UK and indeed for all of Europe – a new, positive partnership between the UK and our friends and allies in the European Union.”

Feeling a bit in shock at those words, as at no time have I felt they are at all clear in their aims. The regions of the UK are disaparate with very different needs and fears. The nations of the UK have very different views of what is best for them, Scotland in particular being very forthright in stating their opposition to what is planned. Finally, what can he possibly mean by a deal that is good for all of Europe? Is he cynically saying EU members will be glad to see the back of us?

All the things on your list which you said that Leavers 'wanted' were also wanted by a percentage of Remainers.hmm

rosesarered Sun 02-Apr-17 12:55:19

Ditto there then

durhamjen Sun 02-Apr-17 12:51:15

All you ever do is insult me, roses.

durhamjen Sun 02-Apr-17 12:48:01

So when else did I produce dodgy data, roses?
Casting aspersions again.
Yes, the fieldwork was done in February, but the results were only published on the date that article 50 was sent to the EU. You are being pernickety there, even for you.

If you look at the link I have given you can get all the information you want to rubbish my post, instead of having to rely on Anya to feed you bits of it, which is what you appear to be doing.

Not many want predecimal currency brought back, but more leavers want pounds and ounces brought back than want to keep decimal weights. That seems a bit puzzling to me.

rosesarered Sun 02-Apr-17 12:42:58

Oh for heavens sake durhamjen all you really wanted to do was spread ever more insults about Leavers.....it's so obvious, they will be wanting slavery next I expect.

rosesarered Sun 02-Apr-17 12:40:00

Exactly Anya who would really like old money back?grin

durhamjen Sun 02-Apr-17 12:39:08

Are you on Yougov, Anya? Read mostlyharmless's post to see what they do.
You can join if you want, and try and skew the polls. You won't.

What it shows is that more people who voted to leave want to bring back hanging and to sell goods in pounds and ounces. What worries me is the ten per cent who do not know if they want to bring back hanging. Only 37% don't want to bring back hanging. Thank heavens for remainers, where 74% don't want it brought back.

rosesarered Sun 02-Apr-17 12:36:59

You are very bossy Ginny42 always demanding things.
But since you ask, this isn't the first time that data from durhamjen has been dodgy.
The fieldwork was done in Feb not the day that 'article 50was triggered'
The survey was for both Remainers and Leavers.Leaving out relevant information is just as bad as making things up, it sways the perception. So, an honest list would have stated, that asked in this kind of a tick box survey, Leavers had 53% in favour of hanging and Remainers had 20% in favour of hanging.Etc Etc.

Anya Sun 02-Apr-17 12:33:43

So you did and it actually backs up my point about your initial post on this - which is on the article 50 thread - that it's a load of bollocks that most people want these things brought back....in fact ( with the exception of the death penalty) most people quite clearly dont want these things brought back.

durhamjen Sun 02-Apr-17 12:32:37

Anya, isn't that what weighting does? It only used the percentages in the population as a whole. You would complain if they used results from more remainers than leavers, and say it wasn't an accurate poll.

Anya Sun 02-Apr-17 12:29:57

Oh, come on DJ I can design a survey that will give the answers I'm looking for easily!

And if you had given these people a free choice .....what do you think they would have come up with? Would they even have thought about passports, old money, corporal punishment? Not on your nelly.

durhamjen Sun 02-Apr-17 12:27:50

You only put part of it up, Anya, just like I did. My link is the whole of it, so you can read into it anything that supports your ideas.

Ginny42 Sun 02-Apr-17 12:26:34

Roses, which of the data DJ has posted don't you trust? You cannot make allegations without giving the details. Post the facts please. Your spurious claim without the facts is nonsense.

durhamjen Sun 02-Apr-17 12:25:05

That's what surveys are about, Anya. It's not like pointless, giving 100 people 100 seconds to think of any answers they want.

Anya Sun 02-Apr-17 12:23:34

I've put the survey up already. Only just scraped a majority on the weighted sample ...we somehow seem to have lost 100+ votes from the remainers in thevunweighted sample hmm interesting!

mostlyharmless Sun 02-Apr-17 12:22:05

I see that the proposed new blue passports will cost £500 million to introduce! According to the Telegraph.

rosesarered Sun 02-Apr-17 12:20:30

Maizie never trust anecdote over data.......unless it's durhamjen's data.grin

Anya Sun 02-Apr-17 12:20:12

Let me bold that correctly

do you think these things should or should not be brought back after the UK leaves the EU

durhamjen Sun 02-Apr-17 12:19:50

d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/tl8kg6q3i9/InternalResults_170222_AfterBrexit_W.pdf

The full results. Not twisted at all.
In fact 53% of those who voted leave want the death penalty brought back.

Anya Sun 02-Apr-17 12:19:34

It says in the survey.....*do you think these things should or should not be brought back after the UK leaves the EU^?

So it's a tick list clearly.

mostlyharmless Sun 02-Apr-17 12:16:07

YouGov surveys don't start by telling you what is going to be asked - they ask a mix of questions (tv viewing etc). The answers are later analysed by age, sex, locations, social class, political preference and in this case, by your EU referendum vote.
Some questions are only asked of particular groups (e.g. Leave voters or Labour Party Members about a specific issue.) Then lots of complex number crunching goes on.

Anya Sun 02-Apr-17 12:15:11

Yesterday was April fools day!

Anya Sun 02-Apr-17 12:14:45

I expect they were given a ready-drawn up list and asked to tick boxes. And of course those who saw themselves on one side of the fence or another will therefore feel they have to respond in a certain way!

durhamjen Sun 02-Apr-17 12:14:18

I didn't twist anything. I read it in an article in the Guardian yesterday.

rosesarered Sun 02-Apr-17 12:14:02

Oh, just seen your post Anya thank you for casting light on it, that does put a whole new slant on things.grin
