Incident unfolding. Terrorist attack?

paddyann Wed 22-Mar-17 23:41:27

what in gods name has this to do with Junker or brexit ? You think England will be safer OUT of the EU ? Deluded!!

Jalima Wed 22-Mar-17 23:38:20

The police were not naming anyone so where did the BBC get their fake information from I wonder, gillybob

stillaliveandkicking Wed 22-Mar-17 23:37:08

I hope we now leave their wars.
I hope Scotland and Wales go their own way too.
We can then do deals within our own remit.

On the France 24 English news they gave updates all the time and on the news running along the bottom of the screen -each new fact had the source of the information in brackets at the end.

gillybob Wed 22-Mar-17 22:57:17

I always try and follow Chanel 4 news as they tend to give an unbiased view unlike the BBC ( who have to be so politically correct that they go too far the other way and describe a murdering b as another victim) but they have dropped a real clanger tonight by naming the wrong man.

merlotgran Wed 22-Mar-17 22:52:22

I agree, gilly. He doesn't count.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 22-Mar-17 22:48:55

why do you feel the need to report Jalima? Im sure we can find out for ourselves. You're being weird. Like I said, 1 is far too many. Time to get out of others wars, time to do brexit and stand alone as a caring country that will not fight others shite.

gillybob Wed 22-Mar-17 22:46:30

Blimey Channel 4 news named the wrong person as the perpetrator (apparently he is still in prison for terrorist offenses) and they are now having to apologize for their mistake. I was annoyed when BBC announced the death toll and included the person who committed the atrocity as though he was a victim himself.

There were memorial services today all over Belguim, the one in the COS was this evening and was even more poignant than we anticipated.
Very sad, unfortunately as has been shown, these people do not need to find weapons, they are driving them.

Jalima Wed 22-Mar-17 22:40:51

The death toll is now four plus the attacker.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 22-Mar-17 22:05:57

Think it was just some nutter that one of the factions got to at the moment.

merlotgran Wed 22-Mar-17 22:04:49

Has anyone claimed responsibility yet?

stillaliveandkicking Wed 22-Mar-17 21:46:11

It was always going to happen. We are not immune. Terrible ordeal for all. I also live in London and had to text a few people dear to me to find out all was ok. I hope we, in the future stay out of other peoples/countries wars. It's none of our business. May said the same. Hopefully this is now going to happen.

The only thing that could have been worse would have been if the man had a gun of any kind, particularly an automatic weapon. It must be very hard for terrorists in Britain to get hold of one, which is reassuring. There must be many foiled plots that we don't get to hear about. What a tragedy for those families who have had a family member killed today.

sue1169 Wed 22-Mar-17 18:43:21

So sad.horrific.inhuman...prayers and thoughts for all the victims and their families.

Cherrytree59 Wed 22-Mar-17 18:36:16

It was just waiting to happen to be fair given the recent attacks. I'm sad at the unnecessary loss of life .

Our police and special services are wonderful and coping bravely with this terrible incident. They need all our support.

Smileless2012 Wed 22-Mar-17 18:09:28

Just heard the newsshock.

Antonia Wed 22-Mar-17 18:01:18

Truly dreadful. I am wondering why those on the London Eye are still up there, over 3 hours later. Prayers and thoughts for all involved, it is so horrific.

callgirl1 Wed 22-Mar-17 17:44:45

It has now been announced that the policeman who was stabbed has died.

tanith Wed 22-Mar-17 17:01:15

A gentleman being interviewed did say he saw a body in the river where the car had rammed people. Glad to hear they found her alive.

Jalima Wed 22-Mar-17 16:56:51

Perhaps the woman was thrown over the railings when the vehicle ploughed into the crowd. I don't think the railing across the bridge is very high.

gillybob Wed 22-Mar-17 16:55:00

It makes you wonder what the security services know, that they are unable to tell us for obvious reasons doesn't it?
