This is interesting. The Dutch woman who was told to pack up and get ready to leave has now become a British citizen and applied for a vote, which she has never had before.
However, in becoming a British citizen, she has lost some rights that she had before by being an EU citizen living in the UK

Well, you can't have everything.

It does sound as if a Home Office official was behaving as a 'jobsworth' and that, had this Dutch woman followed the procedures in applying for permanent residency correctly on appeal, she may well not have had her appeal rejected. Alternatively, she could have waited for the outcome of Brexit negotiations instead of taking the alternative route of applying for British citizenship and thereby losing other rights.

“Some time after submitting my application in January, I was horrified to learn from a lawyer that in fact by becoming a dual-national British citizen, I have signed away several rights that I had before,” she said.

“In my particular case, this would mean that if my widowed mother in the Netherlands were to need care in the future, I would not be able to bring her over to live with me as a dependent. She is very fit and healthy and has no intention of living here but who knows what might happen in 10 years’ time?”

This is what leaving the EU could mean for over three million EU citizens living over here.
No jobsworths involved. They were all obeying the law as it is now trying to ensure they could stay together as a family.

And - I do know a little about it as I have had family who have gone through similar processes both here and overseas. But they did not go to the media about any problems they may have encountered.

The reason she went to the newspapers was because she was told to prepare to leave the country. I'd tell my daughters in law to do that as well, as they are both in the same situation. They haven't applied for citizenship, fortunately, because people like this woman went to the newspapers to tell their stories.
They are waiting to see what happens.
Having lived here for over 20 years, they do not have a vote. The Dutch woman does now, and will no doubt never use it to vote for the Tories.

The bottom line is

Yes, we are getting out of the EU dictatorship. It was a democratic vote and if you can't accept this and stand as one with the rest of the country whilst we get on with it then that says a lot about you as a person.

It's happening thank god. No amount of "links" are going to change it. People like you just hinder things and will make things more costly which will take funds away from the UK.
