Brexit all done and dusted?

As an arch REMOANER I for one (of many) will not simply roll over and say that is that. As things progress at the very least parliament must ensure that the country does not Brexit in a bad way because of "The Will of the People". So many lies were told by both side at the time of referendum that when the full facts come to light a re-think should be considered.

I have yet to hear a sound reason for voting LEAVE. Of course the EU is far from perfect but we are better trying to change it from within than sniping from outside. A general election or second referendum before the point of absolute no return.

I happen to be visiting Brussels on an educational trip after Easter so until then I will put up and shut up unless really provoked.

No need. It's already been explained to me in a very matter of fact way which only strengthen what I believed anyway. Democracy has finally won. Unfortunately jen et al there are always going to be naysayers.

Oh dear saak you have been misinformed. If your stepson is you main source of information he still has a lot to learn.

The EU is not and never has been a dictatorship. It is a group of nations co-operating together with decisions being made by their democratically elected representatives.

A dictatorship is what we could have if enough misguided people (not a majority or even a majority of those who vote) decide to vote in Theresa May.

There was a time when Conservative politicians were wiser and could see the dangers of "elective dictatorship" happening because of our ridiculous undemocratic voting system.

The EU is not a group of nations co-operating at all, it should be but it's not. Since starting the leaving process, this has been shown two-fold by the heads of such a, yes, dictatorship.

Or are you choosing to blindly ignore this.

Welshwife Mon 08-May-17 19:24:38

What majority ?

Welshwife Mon 08-May-17 19:27:04

That should have read - what majority are you part of?

durhamjen Mon 08-May-17 19:28:21

Not ignoring it. It's JUST NOT TRUE!

stillaliveandkicking Mon 08-May-17 19:29:56

The "open door" policy and "free movement" is the most stupid thing I have ever heard in my lifetime. Other countries in the "EU" are in uproar about exactly the same thing. Mass immigration does not and will never work for the population as a 'whole'.

The "european court" has no right to overthrow our own judgement on matter of "our" laws.

We should and shall be able to trade with whom when we want when we want.

I'm delighted that we are leaving, it's the best thing Ive ever heard.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 08-May-17 19:33:32

Part of the "majority" that voted to get out of the EU. That was one of the best days of my life.

Welshwife Mon 08-May-17 19:39:45

Might be a problem with having closed doors - or ones which are only open a crack - and trying to trade with anyone!

Have idea what you are on about welsh, was that a pop at being obtuse?

stillaliveandkicking Mon 08-May-17 19:45:01

*no

Welshwife Mon 08-May-17 19:51:49

Not at all - many countries the Uk has shown an interest in doing trade deals also want virtual free access to the UK for all their population - India for example.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 08-May-17 19:57:12

Not sure what you mean Welshwife? We are opting, well I am for the borders to be closed to anyone other than people we actually need. However we shouldn't actually 'need' anyone, we have more than enough people in our country to fill our jobs if we put our resources into training.

oh dear durham, challenge your views and you come up with this.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 08-May-17 20:14:52

Its done durham, get with the programme and "move on"

stillaliveandkicking Mon 08-May-17 20:21:11

Now if you had something to say about the "process' then fair enough. But you haven't as it's not begun yet, so stop living in the past and realise that no amount of "remoaning/wanting to remain" is going to change the fact that we are getting out. Just think about all the links you can send soon!

Welshwife Mon 08-May-17 21:01:32

You may be opting for closed borders SAAK but countries do not just give the deal one country wants - it is give and take - and many countries want as many visas for their population or open borders for them all.
Did you not notice Priti Patel tell the Indian Continent once we left the EU they would have free access to the UK? She said it publicly during the Referendum campaign. However I think she must have realised it was a bit of an own goal as she never said it again.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 08-May-17 21:08:09

I personally want the Australian system to be adopted. It will take a bit of time but it will happen. What Priti said is clearly a clanger and based on jack shite.

durhamjen Mon 08-May-17 21:08:35

If she didn't realise herself, Welshwife, she was certainly put on message again.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 08-May-17 21:17:30

If you didn't realise durham, you didn't make any sense there whatsoever grin send a link or elaborate.

daphnedill Mon 08-May-17 21:17:47

You can meet whom you like for an IQ test saak. You'd probably fail! grin

Oh dear! You really are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 08-May-17 21:18:55

what barrel? what on earth are you on about?

daphnedill Mon 08-May-17 21:20:39

Do you get your kicks out of being aggressive saak? How sad!
