Who cares what colour their passport is?

Why am I thinking changing the passports if it happens, after Brexit is a cynical ploy to extract more money from us ex pats ...the cost of renewing our passports from here is astronomical ......personally I would prefer a 'Citizen of Europe' passport such as is being proposed by some members of the EU Parliament as a way to ensure we can stay living in Europe ......the UK has no concern as regards UK Citizens living in Europe ...only EU Citizens living in the UK ...maybe the UK could propose EU Citizenship for them as well !!!!! I am not holding my breath ...

Well, I wanted a lovely blue car but couldn't afford it so had a silver one instead, common as muck and sometimes covered in it too.

Perhaps we could have a choice. Although I wanted a pale blue car but had to have the white one I could afford so on that basis we might end up with the colour we are not keen on. (I wouldn't have a green car Jalima)

I was appalled that the Sunday Express chose to have the passport nonsense on its front page ,when so many other, much more important, things are happening, not the least of which was the brutal attack in Croydon.

I like the red ones, they are slimmer and fit in my bag more easily but I don't really mind what colour they are (EXCEPT GREEN!).

I don't see why it would cost so much to change back to blue because surely they could carry on using red until they ran out of red books then order the new batches in blue?
Or am I missing something?

You get a free passport if you were born before 2nd September 1929, my DM qualifies but at 88 I don't think she'll bother as she's never had one (never wanted to travel abroad).

I am only 61 & remember blue passports, I did prefer them as they were better quality. Mine (burgandy) ran out in 2013, might renew it I don't know as no plans to go abroad at the moment

I started agreeing with you but as for the Easter bit neither Cadbury's or the NT have anything to get over. The word Easter was just not on an advert - it is everywhere else. If I choose to call chocolate eggs just that you cannot tell me what to say - no one can thankfully as we are a free country whatever anyone likes to think.

No one was telling anyone they could not say 'Easter' Eggs. It didn't happen; it is an urban myth; it is fake news. Why don't people make themselves knowledgeable about what actually happened before they start shouting the odds. You are wrong Rr22 - not because you cannot have an opinion, of course you can, but because you did not bother to find out the truth before you formed that opinion.

Physically we will be part of their lives, they will have our looks, temprement, talents whether we are part of their lives or not.

I totally agree with GracesGranMK2 and others who ask why we are even bothering to spend time debating what colour UK passports are.

I can see why people think national identity is important and that more should be done to ensure that immigration is controlled but there is too much nervousness about offedning people - like the dropping of the word "Easter" for Easter eggs.

I am from a minority religion and I don't always agree with Theresa may but the UK is a predominantly Christian country.

I'm just so sad that I won't have a passport showing that I am a citizen of the EU (and everything that goes with it). I'm not going to trot out the same old arguements, but I completely agree that all this 'I get my country/passport (etc) back' are simply fantasies about what Britain used to be like. So much will be lost for those perculiar dreams!

My new passport arrived yesterday so I'm happy to be European for the next 10 years!
After that, if I choose to renew it (and I hope I will) then I'd prefer to have a Scottish one.

My two children both benefited from being EU-citizens when they chose to study abroad. They travelled on their British passports. I suspect the last thing on their minds was the colour of their passports. I deeply regret that we have now decided that our young people will no longer qualify for the enriching and useful experience a study period abroad can be. It makes me angry when I hear people, particularly the older generation, stating that “I am British, not an EU-citizen”. Brexit will affect the young. It is their future.

I'm thinking of getting an Irish passport as well as a British ( I live in Northern Ireland) then I can have a choice of colours depending on what I fancy!

I was mildly disappointed to loose my dark blue passport. Now I would give anything too keep my EU passport. Yet another hidden but vast expense to be incurred by Britain coming out.

I'm keeping my blue flag on my Italian car and I will have my burgundy passport till 2015 hurray! ( I may have got my green Irish one by then). Perhaps the passport should be red, white and blue, oh no just red and white as the Scots will want their own blue one.

We have just had to renew both ours at the cost of £72 each( all done on line now) so I hope it will not be changed again in a hurry as we are sure to be charged again . I too would like to have "remainer" stamped on mine ! Can't begin to imagine what the queues at immigration are going to be like ?

Yes, I'm glad our car hasn't got the blue flag and circle of stars on it. Never had, never will! We went for a longish drive yesterday - is it my imagination or are there fewer of those registration plates with the blue flag? Seemed like it to me.
