May is to make an important announcement at 11.15

Eloethan Sat 22-Apr-17 12:02:27

anniebach You say: ".. then came the miners strike when we had to fight the enemy within". Who is the "we" you are referring to, and what was the "enemy within"? As I recall it, this was Mrs Thatcher's line but she was apparently persuaded to scrap the reference in her speech to miners being the "enemy within".

The criticisms constantly aimed at Corbyn are not fair comment - didn't you recently refer to him as a militant toad or something like that? - they are just insults based on personal opinion.

Anniebach Sat 22-Apr-17 11:56:09

Sorry, and it was Corbyn who spoke of .trump

Anniebach Sat 22-Apr-17 11:55:28

I have only spoken the truth about Corbyn, nothing derogatory, can the truth be derogatory? I suppose for Corbyn fans it is seen as such.

What is puzzling is posting the truth about Corbyn is attacked by those who daily attack May.

And Whitewave. For me to criticise the Tory party is as pointless as me posting - Rain is wet.

But good news for the far left, there is a glimmer of hope for Corbyn, by following .trump and playing the anti establishment Line will help save some seats.

I really don't believe that the comments made about MT are as personal or denigrating as those made by AB about JC but perhaps you can show me that I am wrong POGS.

I think challenging what a government has done or what plans they have to do is a very different thing.

POGS Sat 22-Apr-17 11:36:30

GG

" Being beaten over the head with the constant denigration of one person is not going to persuade anyone so why keep doing it? "

Irony if you are a Tory Voter.

I don't often do this on political threads but grin

GracesGranMK2 Sat 22-Apr-17 11:22:49

Try switching of and ignoring it? Oh you mean stop speaking the truth about the Labour Party leader?

Annie, I really don't understand why you keep telling everyone on here about your opinion of Corbyn. I doubt there is anyone who doesn't understand what you feel and it is obviously hard for you but others do not feel that way or, perhaps, even care. Being beaten over the head with the constant denigration of one person is not going to persuade anyone so why keep doing it? I don't think it is making you feel any better either. Why not stop having a go on here and have one more attempt to go out canvasing for whoever you think could keep the Conservatives out - perhaps go with varian's suggestion.

I just don't think you are either doing yourself any good or achieving anything. You could still post but perhaps without winding yourself up so much.

varian Sat 22-Apr-17 10:30:39

Annie - you should vote Liberal Democrat. You've done your bit for the Labour Party over the years and now it's time to do your bit for the country. Next time round you could go back to Labour when they've got a new leader - or you may even decide to stay withe LibDems.

Anniebach Sat 22-Apr-17 10:24:56

Labour candidates will this time be selected centrally and not by members, I am referring to seats without an incumbent

Anniebach Sat 22-Apr-17 10:17:40

Some good news, Eric Pickles is standing down, no more will I have to listening to his voice ,

Anniebach Sat 22-Apr-17 10:02:44

So UNITE support Corbyn, yet only 12% of members voted at their leadership contest .

whitewave Sat 22-Apr-17 09:50:09

Oh dear!

Anniebach Sat 22-Apr-17 09:48:09

Try switching of and ignoring it? Oh you mean stop speaking the truth about the Labour Party leader? 1983 there was the enemy without . Then came the miners strike when we had to fight the enemy within, 2017 we find the 1983 enemy without is now the enemy in control.

whitewave Sat 22-Apr-17 09:16:51

Try switching off and ignoring it annie you may find it less stressful, or Vote Tory and be done with it as they seem to be the ones you find least fault with..

Anniebach Sat 22-Apr-17 08:57:57

Jess, UKIP doesn't appeal to me, the greens , well they have one MP, don't see then winning the next election. Stay and fight? did it for fourteen years , haven't got fourteen years ahead of me and fighting within the Labour Party this time is much harder, corruption is sooooo difficult to fight.

JessM Sat 22-Apr-17 08:41:24

I'm sure there are other parties that would welcome you in Annie

GracesGranMK2 Fri 21-Apr-17 21:34:33

Maybe it was I don't see why it's assumed that we Grans are so blinkered by our time of life that we stick with one party. which wasn't what I had said ... almost the opposite. If you meant something else I apologise but that is how it seemed to read.

Ana Fri 21-Apr-17 21:24:02

What on earth makes you think I took offence, GGM2? Far from it!

daphnedill Fri 21-Apr-17 21:06:49

So don't vote Labour annie. You have a choice: stay and fight from the inside to change the leadership or vote for a party which you believe would best achieve what you want.

daphnedill Fri 21-Apr-17 21:03:26

May might have asked MPs for their ideas, but will she listen? What's she going to do if the majority say they want to stay in the EU after all? hmm

GracesGranMK2 Fri 21-Apr-17 21:02:12

I don't think you voting for all three main parties negates what I suggested Ana; questioning people will be older questioning people. That is exactly what I said.

I certainly didn't say ALL grans vote for one party - just the opposite. I wonder if you took offence before you actually read it - again!

daphnedill Fri 21-Apr-17 21:01:34

I've never voted Conservative or Ukip, but I've voted for just about everybody else. Over the last three years, I've voted for three different parties at town, county and national levels. Each has different responsibilities and I agreed with different parties about how they would deal with the issues under their control.

whitewave Fri 21-Apr-17 20:55:34

What else am I waiting for ana confused

Ana Fri 21-Apr-17 20:52:47

Yes, it will indeed be interesting to read the manifestos. Something else you'll just have to wait for, whitewave! grin

Ana Fri 21-Apr-17 20:50:36

I've voted for all three of the major parties during my voting life, at various stages. I don't see why it's assumed that we Grans are so blinkered by our time of life that we stick with one party.

Some on here do, of course.

whitewave Fri 21-Apr-17 20:43:46

Be interesting to read the manifestos. May has asked MPs their ideas!
