Fiona Mctaggart MP for Slough is standing down
Were they not members of the LP Annie? I would have thought they have to be. Are they not allowed to be members of Momentum? If they are what did they do wrong other than not be believers in New Labour?
No they were not ALL Labour Party Members when Momentum was formed to support Jeremy Corbyn as opposed to The Labour Party.
Things are however possibly be changing.
" Momentum has introduced a new constitution, announcing it will now aim to affiliate to Labour and require all its members to join the party to retain their membership.
The organisation, set up in the wake of Jeremy Corbyn’s first victory in the Labour Party leadership contest in 2015, announced the sweeping changes to its structure following months of sharp internal divisions.
It means new members of Momentum must be members of the Labour Party in order to join the organisation. Existing members will be required to join Labour by the beginning of July. "

" Lansman claims to have drawn up the proposals “in consultation with a number of others in Momentum, the leader’s office and trade unions that have supported Jeremy Corbyn”.
This is the problem , Corbyn has a an 'inner circle' that is reliant on Momentum and Unions that back him and they are at odds with the Parliamentary Labour Party , as we have heard and seen.

" Momentum , the grassroots pro-Jeremy Corbyn campaign group, has agreed a new constitution that will require its members to join the Labour party, in an attempt to resolve a bitter fight about its future."
" Lansman claims to have drawn up the proposals “in consultation with a number of others in Momentum, the leader’s office and trade unions that have supported Jeremy Corbyn”.
The group had been riven by factional disputes since Corbyn’s re-election in September, amid reports that it had been infiltrated by ' Trotskyists '. Corbyn had urged its members to resolve their differences, telling the Guardian in December that he would like to see them join Labour."
So people who voted for the leader of the Labour Party were not members of the Labour Party? That seems a little odd.
Oh - I suppose some were supporters but that was open to all wasn't it Momentum or not Momentum.

Why do you think Corbyn/McDonnell have had an 'inner circle' from Momentum giving them advice knowing they were not ALL Labour Party Members.?
Corbyn winning the Leadership was voted for by Labour Members.
Corbyn has however turned to Momentum , the Unions and others for how to run his affairs. Other Leaders would have dealt with and listened to their Parliamentary Labour Party MP's , who after all were elected by the voter.
It is that 'disconnect' that has caused the Labour MP's to make their views known , no doubt why a few have decided to stand down. Possibly those on Corbyn's 'Hostile List' drawn up to tell him which of his PLP were pro or anti Corbyn's Leadership.
If somebody is either a Corbyn or a Momentum supporter they deny that is an issue and fall back on the Corbyn was elected by the Labour Party Members, yes he was but by a rump of 'return' or Corbyn as Leader' new Labour Members who had to pay £3 , thanks to Ed Milliband.. What will be the consequence of that will be 'possibly' seen by the General Election vote .
Can anyone enlighten me why the BBC is so hung up with UKIP?
Farage was wheeled on this morning on the radio and now Suzanne whatshername is on Neil. They don't have a single MP - Brexit has happened. What on earth is the interest ?
Do I care POGS? I am aware that Annie does and I was just trying to clarify why.
Clear explanation POGS , thank you
UKIP in general and Farage in particular have long been favourites of the BBC. Their relentless promotion of Farage has been a big factor in the mess we're in now.
The Beeb are driving me up the wall ww! They are haranguing interviewees about things that they are not going to talk about until the manifestos are produced and it is both rude and nasty. Why not let people talk? I do not want to here Andrew Neil's views I want to make my own mind up by listening to each and every party and their comments.
I imagine money is talking re UKIP and the media ww.
Jim Dowd has stood down , brings total in two days to eight

" Do I care POGS? "
Well you make plenty of statements and comments so I thought you did. Hey ho.
No POGS, am interested in what others think is important and I do note that the fact that Blair et al decided they could ignore their base membership until they no longer spoke for them goes unremarked. I will always see that as the downfall of the Labour Party. Putting the responsibility at the door of George Brown, Ed Miliband or Jeremy Corbyn is just a case of all those who cannot see what they did trying to shift the blame. But that is just me, as a none LP member, looking in and at history.
varian yes you are so right.
Lucas on as well - do hope the idea of a broad centre left/left "step down" cones to fruition. There ought to be a huge push towards the idea.
Have to agree with you varian. Never mind giving them proportional time, etc., they are a good story so haul them in.
The trouble one with the BBC presenters is that there are too many big egos - I include, Neil, Humphreys and Kuenssberg as up there with the biggest.
We should go back to the days when the interviewer said - may I ask you ?
If the likes of John Humlhries didn't press questions we would get party political broadcasts at every interview, MP's have the - keep talking untill interview ends
I have absolutely no problem with any presenter asking questions, but once the question is asked the idea then is to let the interviewee answer, without interrupting with what the interviewer is trying to make them say according to the interviewers agenda.
Fiona McTsggart and Dowd were in the Corbyn hit list
Yes I understand what you are saying annie , but these interviewers take it too far I think.
It's good interviewing for me Trisher , I liked Paxman, I like Humphries, if politicians avoid certain interviewers it says more about the politician than the interviewer. Thorbury excels at talking out interview time . I think Abbott does try not to use talk out time,
I am certainly with whitewave on this one. I want to hear what the interviewee has to say not the interviewer. Even if the interviewee avoids the question or answers one he/she hasn't been asked I think I could just about manage to understand that is what has happened and then reach my own conclusions.
I always remember what my grandson taught me. The hero of the story was a small, smart mouse not the big, noisy Gruffalo. Many interviewers think it is clever to be the Gruffalo
