Anyone got any information we can put onto this thread please?

FarNorth Wed 10-May-17 19:23:13

You'd think they'd be happy enough that none of their candidates are to be prosecuted.

Blimey the Tories are taking a leaf out of Trumps book. They are calling for the Independent Electorial Commision to be scrapped because they didn't like the fact that it found them guilty of undeclared expenses.

Time to look at the Tories economic management since 2010.

Undoubtedly over the next few weeks there will be the myth put about as how they -the Tories- pulled the economy back from the brink of disaster brought about Labour mismanagement.

Well we know that that is nonsense.

Darling had put into place a number of economic measurements and bank rescue package copied by the USA and the EU. Indeed Brown was praised by all the world leaders for his actions. Helped by a loosening of monetary and fiscal policy introduced by the Labour Government the economy was in strong growth by 2010. Economic growth means greater government income and the ability to pay off the debt etc.

However by 2012 as Osborne ideological stance of a smaller state and small tax economy began to take affect, the economy was back into recession. The welfare state was taking the hit for the benefit of the bankers and industry.

2013 saw the economy begin to pick up, however it is worrying that it is totally out of balance, with much of the governmental receipts coming from the service industry. The industrial sector has not picked up so well. This could be a potential disaster, particularly as much of the financial sector may be threatened by the move to Europe after Brexit. The economy has still not reached the 2007 level.

A small state, - meaning lower welfare and less money for education, infrastructure etc along with a small tax economy ( you can't have one without the other) is clearly still aim of the current Tory government.

Well said Ginny. I hope you sent these replies straight back to the Theresa May party.

Ginny42 Wed 10-May-17 17:19:09

Have you received your personal letter from Theresa yet? Among other things, she promises...

A vote to back me is a vote for s&s leadership in the national interest. And in your interest too.

WRONG TM! Not in my interest at all. Part of my job has gone to Eire. My DGS and SIL are about to become aliens.

and...

So Ginny, please give me your backing and your vote. Together we can get on with making life better for all of us.

There you go again TM. Promising to make life better for all. How are you going to do that please? What you really mean is better for those who can ride out the economic downturn, pay the higher prices for goods and services and still have a good life.

Final statement reads:

I pledge to you that a government where I am Prime Minister will not let you down Ginny. Give me your support and I will get the best Brexit deal for you. I will stand up for you and govern for you.

You let me down every time you say 'the people have decided.' NO WE DID NOT! Stop saying that, it's a lie. If you want to stand up for me, you will have to abandon Brexit.

Team May is to put the emphasis on strong leadership v. Corbyn's weak hold.

daphnedill Wed 10-May-17 13:58:07

PS. Why the hell are we discussing bins when what is probably the most important election for decades is looming?

daphnedill Wed 10-May-17 13:56:43

This is getting ridiculous! Team May? What about the other Conservative MPs? Or is May going to replace them all with clones and yes-people?

Jalima1108 Wed 10-May-17 12:25:26

trisher it puts you in their very good books!!

I did say that I know there are women who have no OH to do some of these tasks and I have lived on my own for long enough and done it for long enough to know that if I can get out of putting the rubbish out now I will. DH is so much better at it than me.

daphnedill Wed 10-May-17 12:20:01

Same here angelab. It never even occurs to me that there is somebody who could help me with anything. I just have to get on and do it myself.

angelab Wed 10-May-17 11:41:28

I can only say, all you lucky GNers who have another half to help you! I've been doing all the jobs myself for so long (divorced 24 years) that I forget there are households who can share!

rosesarered Wed 10-May-17 11:24:32

Good for you FarNorth and neither are lots of people I would guess.Including me.
DH puts bins out unless not well/away and so what...I can do it perfectly well myself at the moment, but as I do more household chores than him generally am happy to leave it to him.

trisher Wed 10-May-17 11:19:21

I took out the recycling at my DS's when I was GC minding last week-where does that put me?

rosesarered Wed 10-May-17 11:15:41

I apologise to you Maizie ( and on the other thread ) I saw your name above Welshwife which caused me to think it was your comment.

FarNorth Wed 10-May-17 10:55:31

As the "jobs" weren't specified, apart from bins, those of us who jump to conclusions are the ones being sexist.

I took it that Mrs May was referring to the jobs involved in her own household, not anyone else's, and she didn't go into details about girls'/boys' jobs, so I'm not joining in the outrage being felt by many in the media.

MaizieD Wed 10-May-17 10:16:41

Did you mean the fact that I quoted you and missed a word out?On another thread?

No, the time you ascribed a quote to me about foxhunting last night which I didn't say. It was another poster altogether.

Your post at 23.21

Which you then followed up with some utter nonsense about what you thought I wanted people to say.

Jalima1108 Wed 10-May-17 10:14:42

but perhaps the Guardian just didn't get the joke
not surprising

Jalima1108 Wed 10-May-17 10:14:06

She meant taking the rubbish out re "boys' jobs and girls' jobs" and was being ironic - obviously! - as we have gone way past the days when politics was a boys' job - let alone being Prime Minister!

I am quite happy for the taking out of the rubbish to be a boy's job and do appreciate the fact that there are many women on their own who have to do it themselves.

whitewave Wed 10-May-17 10:07:35

According to our great almighty leader, " there are boys' jobs and girls' jobs" As someone said we were taken immediately back to the 1950s where men are boys and women are girls.

She didn't specify what girls jobs are. Other than being supreme leader grin

Guardian.

rosesarered Wed 10-May-17 09:51:24

Did you mean the fact that I quoted you and missed a word out?On another thread?

rosesarered Wed 10-May-17 09:49:21

Second time?There wasn't even a first time.

MaizieD Wed 10-May-17 09:45:15

.....but do carry on.

Carry on with what?

I haven't called anyone a silly name.

That's the second time in 24 hours that you've accused me of something I haven't done.

rosesarered Wed 10-May-17 09:30:13

.....but do carry on.

rosesarered Wed 10-May-17 09:27:34

It can, although it's extremely childish.
I wouldn't dream of calling anyone in the public eye silly names for any reason.

MaizieD Wed 10-May-17 09:17:11

They say that name calling the powerful in society is a way of taking away fear,

'They' have said many, many things over the years, usually contradictory.

Name calling can equally indicate contempt.
