The exit pole predicting no overall majority.

POGS Fri 09-Jun-17 18:55:20

Well yes!

It was in the link I posted part of it as is quite normal.

Jalima1108 Fri 09-Jun-17 20:02:43

If an elderly and frail person, or any other person for that matter, sends in a postal vote and then actually dies before the date of the election, is that vote still counted?
I presume so as they are still on the electoral register until someone notifies the Council and they are taken off.

Now I have to look up which one had a 2 vote majority!!

daphnedill Fri 09-Jun-17 21:07:46

Wow! Labour has won Kensington and Chelsea.

jacksmum Fri 09-Jun-17 21:10:28

!!!

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 21:19:29

I see that any post by Fitzy, POGS and a few others are being disregarded by the happy band of left wing chatterers. As Fitzy says..... Labour lost!
the Conservatives are forming a government with the UDP, and actually all that Corbyn has achieved is making things difficult for the country when Brexit negotiations start, but of course that's all he can ever do, swipe at the establishment from the sidelines, it's what he has done all his life.He has never been a Minister, never had any responsibility for anything and was a
weak and useless leader of the opposition......which is still his job btw as he is not going to be the PM.
The young won't like voting and being defeated and will probably ( most of them)
Never vote again.
The Conservatives led a poor campaign and had an unpopular manifesto but have
Managed to scrape a win out of it, but they will have to change their way of doing things and involve the whole Cabinet from now on.They have won but could have done so much better.

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 21:23:46

anniebach Welsh Labour did well I see.smile

mcem Fri 09-Jun-17 21:24:00

Jalima it was Fife - St Andrews country. 3 recounts and a 2 vote majority for SNP, just beating the Libdems.
The constituency of friends who are on holiday.
They applied for postal votes. Hers arrived in time for her to vote Libdem. His didn't arrive so SNP didn't get his vote.
How close was that?

daphnedill Fri 09-Jun-17 21:28:51

How do you work out that Corbyn has created the chaos? May called the election - not Corbyn. Corbyn stuck to his guns and people voted for him. Was he supposed to tell people not to vote Labour, so that May was handed her mandate?

I really don't see the logic.

daphnedill Fri 09-Jun-17 21:31:19

I don't work out why you think the young won't vote again. That's totally unsubstantiated speculation.

The Conservatives didn't win either. Nobody did.

Penstemmon Fri 09-Jun-17 21:34:15

Oh dear!

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 21:35:08

grin dd coalition of chaos .
Where have i heard that?

Dyffryn Fri 09-Jun-17 21:45:36

I think you are totally wrong rosesarered. I think the young are totally fed up with what has happened over the last year. This is just the beginning of them taking control of their future. Corbyn is not weak he is a true leader. Listen to him, the words that come out of his mouth, not what is said or written about him and then you will understand why the young are so inspired by him. Ps I am inspired by him so I must be young not old.

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 21:45:37

Nobody reached the magic number of 326 but the Tories were much closer on 318 as Labour only on 262.
May will be PM and Corbyn will not.
So there is a winner and a loser, there has to be.

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 21:49:43

I don't think the young are fed up at all Dyffryn as a matter of fact I think they wanted their fees paid for them. Can't blame them for that of course.
Employment is high, so presumably it was mainly students who rallied to Corbyns siren cries of 'no fees!' If there isn't another GE for five years, will they then bother to vote?

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 21:50:21

Can't blame them....it should read.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 21:52:09

If an elderly and frail person, or any other person for that matter, sends in a postal vote and then actually dies before the date of the election, is that vote still counted?

A death has to be registered within five days and I would like to think that would be picked up - but don't know.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 21:55:23

Thanks gg been wondering about that.

You can tell im tired
Time to drift off with book

daphnedill Fri 09-Jun-17 22:07:57

You should try talking to a few hundred young people, rosesared. It might make you realise that you don't always know what motivates people or what they're thinking.

daphnedill Fri 09-Jun-17 22:09:08

There are two winners and two losers this time.

Dyffryn Fri 09-Jun-17 22:11:10

As a teacher rosesarered I can tell you that the young are most certainly fed up

Anniebach Fri 09-Jun-17 22:15:30

Roses, Weldh lsbour did really well, and the constituency I campaigned really hard it is back where it belongs, Gower was labour for 100 years then lost at the last election, anyway it has come home ?

Have a great holiday

Luckygirl Fri 09-Jun-17 22:22:42

Penstemmon - that image is sickening.

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 22:25:27

What are they fed up about exactly?
Not possible for me to talk to a few hundred young people, but apart from tuition fees to pay back, what are they saying to you as a teacher to indicate they are fed up, of life? of politics?

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 22:26:46

Thanks annie I already am doing.smile

gillybob Fri 09-Jun-17 22:27:38
