"why not as both sides want it" rar can you try to understand? You have 2 opposing factions who were killing each other and others. Peace was agreed and our government agreed to act as an independent mediator, this government is putting that at risk by choosing to align themselves with one of the factions. Even if both sides want it, it could be one of the most damaging alliances in the history of the Irish situation. It could take us back into conflict and chaos, but never mind that if it enables May to cling on for a little bit.

So, Queen's speech tomorrow, no government majority, no agreement with the DUP and rumours (on good authority, apparently) that they feel they are being taken for granted.

Philip Hammond making a speech which is totally contrary to what the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, David Davis has been saying. PH says brexit should be led by jobs regardless of immigration (political speak - talent) instead of the 'strong and stable' declarations we have heard in the recent past that immigration, whether it was in our interest or not, had to be reduced to the 'tens of thousands'.

Day one and Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union can't keep his first declared intention (perhaps he shouldn't have been so gung ho in declaring it in the first place.)

It looks as if the DUP agreement will go ahead, and it's a good job as we need to get back to normal government business.
Corbyn can't put a government together, even with the help of the SNP and uncle tom cobbley and all, so we need an up and running government, the sooner the better.

The Labour Party were quite prepared to run a minority government RaR and may yet be required to do so allowing Uncle Tom Cobbley to go on his way.

Yes ww and gg I watched that interview as well. I felt that when you really listened to and deconstructed what he said, he came across as arrogant and dismissive such as his comment about austerity. I used to have some time for him( although never for his BAT involvement ). I also thought that Cable was extremely poor and I was left wondering what he stood for. Oh yes and KC's comments about GT - he seemed to think the issue was all about fire regulations.
