Now this really be worth doing!!

Let's start with the QS.

What will be left out/watered down! Not sure how they will explain it away as it's in the manifesto. Probably say something like "Brexit and all it's complications will mean that stuff will have to be shelved"

Fox hunting - out
Triple lock - remains
Social care - out

Lamont and Lawson have weighed in to tell the cabinet to stop criticising Hammond in public.

Hmm fat chance.

Austerity is undoubtedly becoming toxic for the Tories though, and of course is taking place with the background of the DUP bung.

The question is whether May will survive? I suspect they will let her struggle on.

The Brexit clock has started and Davis has let it be known that he feels hemmed in by May, so in that case it is possible I suppose that they will eventually insist on a change of leadership.

Eventually something will happen that will threaten her majority. That will almost certainly bring about an election.

The Tories have a couple of threats looming on the horizon, firstly the economy and secondly the fact that the current government is showing a level of incompetence clear to all.

know

Ana Sat 08-Jul-17 15:51:23

Of course they're not! Google it - surprised you didn't now already though...

whitewave Sat 08-Jul-17 15:44:25

dj are they on their hols at the moment? It's being introduced next week I think.

Ana Sat 08-Jul-17 15:37:28

Alan Spence? Scottish poet...

durhamjen Sat 08-Jul-17 15:33:30

How can they do this while on holiday for twelve weeks?

whitewave Sat 08-Jul-17 15:06:04

Reference to above Alan Spence

So after repealing the 1972 Communities Act

Second it will transfer thousands of EU laws and regulations currently applied here into U.K. Law.

Third - and most controversially and many argue is entirely undemocratic, it will empower the government to pass secondary legislation.
This will empower the government to apply thousands of tweaks without any parliamentary scrutiny.
These tweaks known as statutory instruments (Henry vlll powers)will amount to well over 1000. And will prove complicated and very time consuming.

These Henry VIII powers are proving so controversial because it gives the government the opportunity to toss out any law isn't doesn't like - in effect taking away rights that at the moment exist -without any recourse to parliament.

The HoL and opposition parties are also concerned that the government will succumb to lobbyists thus threatening environmental law, workers protection, consumer law and so forth.

whitewave Sat 08-Jul-17 14:53:03

The full process of transitioning EU law into domestic law will takes years and pockets full of money.

One remainer has said the he wouldn't describe the Repeal Bill as a can of worms, more a sack of snakes.

whitewave Sat 08-Jul-17 14:42:06

"So next week the government will seek to lay before parliament the Repeal Bill, which will transfer thousands of EU laws into U.K. Domestic law .

May needs this to go through in order to be able to leave the EU.

But this will begin the biggest, longest messiest fight, that will make other fights look minor in comparison.

One LIB Dem said that "this is a wonderful opportunity to fuck over the government, its that good. It's going to be amazing"

whitewave Sat 08-Jul-17 14:32:32

So let's start to look at the Repeal Bill.

One report suggests that opponents are going to "string it up like a fucking Christmas tree with amendments"

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 20:55:53

Thats the gossip anyway.

durhamjen Fri 07-Jul-17 20:53:24

Maybe that's why they are going to be on holiday for twelve weeks, so the conspirators can't get together and force her out.

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 20:50:06

Yes must have been the same article. Be interesting how it pans out as presumably that democratic institution known as the 1922 club will come to a decision some time in the autumn

durhamjen Fri 07-Jul-17 20:45:40

I read that some of her middle rankers are going to resign this year to force a leadership election.

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 20:37:11

I read today that those who fancy their chances as the next leader like Mogg, Johnson, Gove etc are keen for her to take the rap over what will almost certainly be a failed Brexit. Backbenchers want shot of her now as she is so incompetant and without any authority whatsoever

durhamjen Fri 07-Jul-17 20:31:48

She also says she is going to stay on for the full two years! Good luck with that, Maybot.

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 18:43:57

Just seen May when asked about Brexit at the G20.

Quite bizarre, as she is still stuck in pre-election mode without any recognition of the way both the EU and to some extent her government has moved on.

She continues to say the bleeding obvious, but is undoubtedly damaging our country with her apparent lack of understanding, and intellect.

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 17:52:40

So the poorest workers in the U.K. has to somehow deal with 5 years of benefits cuts from 2015 - 2020 on top of the rise inflation, and wage stagnation.

What a rotten government

Labour 46%

Tories 38%

Well done, Andrew Gwynne, even having a Tory praise his speech.

American, but could equally apply to immigrants here.

This is an interesting factcheck. Simultaneous with the last PMQ.

P.S That's why some countries which are in the Euro are struggling (Greece being the most obvious example). They can't control their money supply and its value because they are not using their own currency.

Whereas we can.
