No primrose that is false facts. We joined through the EU this will become void on 31/03/19. We will then have to reapply
When a political leader lies on their CV - can you trust them?
This term gets bandied about in relation to Brexit without any of the consequences attached to it.
I have just done some research/ reading and thought it was time we all had the opportunity to discuss what exactly a "cliff edge Brexit" means and whether it can be taken seriously as a "no deal is better than a bad deal" deal.
So talks have failed and our government decides to go it alone.
It is day one of Britains great adventure
We have no trade deals with the EU or the rest of the world.
The economy goes into recession
We now have in front of us several years of negotiating trade deals both with our potentially biggest customer -Europe and the rest of the World.
Countries like Argentina and others that bear a grudge will block any dealings with the WTO.
Getting exports to Europe will become an absolute nightmare, as even if we have successfully arranged our borders for a post Brexit scenario, Europe has only just begun to get their border controls in place for the flow of goods to and from the UK.
The SE becomes a huge lorry park as good stand waiting to be processed. There is a potential for shortages to occur- particularly in relation to food, as there is only one port in Europe that is set up to deal with this commodity, and that is not yet functioning.
Issues like "country of origin" causes complete chaos for business and everything becomes a bureaucratic nightmare.
Flights are delayed/cancelled until the UK can do its own deals with regard to flight rights.
And of course as we have read only recently, nuclear material will dry up, threatening cancer and other treatment.

To join the WTO, the U.K. Will have to conduct some of the most technical, complicated, unprecendented trade negotiations in political history.
Lucky we joined in 1995 then.
Which paper was the GSK article from this morning ww?
Tariffs and the WTO - Dunt 2016
There is a rule called "most favoured" nation. This means that you cannot discriminate in your tariffs. So if the UK negotiates zero tariff for beef with the EU, it must drop it to zero for everyone .
So if the UK unilaterally drop the EU tariffs, it would then become a completely tariff free country, with all that implies.
Similarly it is highly unlikely that the EU will ignore the "most favoured" rules.
Listening to Fox this morning about WTO and how securing a free trade deal with the EU is going to be really easy.
Well let's look at that in more detail, some of this is gleaned from Dunc 2016 in his explanation of what happens after Brexit.
First the WTO
Fox portrayed the WTO as a regulation-free set up who once they have listened to Fox on how they should change for the better will be waiting with baited breath for the UK to take its place as one of the world's leading trading nations.
What Fox failed to mention on Today this morning that the WTO is a regulatory nightmare, where every other member can trigger a trade dispute with you.
To join the WTO, the U.K. Will have to conduct some of the most technical, complicated, unprecendented trade negotiations in political history.
I know Ana
I'm happy, sick, in pain, old, going off tangent .....
I wish people paid as much attention to what they posted on the forums as they did to how I feel
'you seem happy' - typical durhamjen ridiculous invention...
What have I said that makes you think I'm happy about it?
What was that £275m investment with respect to?
Last year GSK were going to spend £275 million in this country.
Now you seem happy that they have announced a £140 million expansion, with a loss of 320 jobs.
roses as I said earlier, I'm not convinved that just because it's on their website it is true; how do we know? I'm prepared to accept numeric figures from there but maybe there is some reason e.g. not spooking shreholders behind the comment - I have no idea.
Check the figures from last year to this
Which figures?
I would imagine the website , being set up by GSK knows what it it doing.
durhamjen It's not just The Express, it's all the papers. They all work from the same press release.

Still interested to know which paper reported this investment would go to Europe.
Deflecting the topic to the political bent of a newspaper doesn't help establish the facts.

Never mind the sarky remarks - are you saying the GSK website is wrong durhamjen? Lying, perhaps?
So I wonder what sort of people would believe what they read in the Express rather than someone who works there?
Oh yes, Tories.
Germany's main problem at the moment is getting enough people to fill the empty positions in their firms.
If all these UK firms move to France or Germany they will have to take some of their workers with them. That is not much comfort for those with houses and school children but the young ones will be given a chance of life in the EU. I'm sure of that!
GSK have a new chief exec - it's not uncommon for them to try and 'make their mark' by changing things around.
As for the move to France, GSK announced they'll be moving more manufacturing to France in 2015, which was before the Brexit vote.
It's a fact, but it's not a 'Brexit' fact.

The GSK website also says this (is it true or am I just a cynic - would we know?)
www.pressreader.com/uk/daily-express/20170720/282518658555912
"Glaxo says the moves weren't prompted by Brexit."
Which paper did you read it in?
And as we speak my daughter is recruiting sales people for Audi because some dealerships are expanding. So obviously they're still expecting people to buy their expensive cars.
I trust you are not going to accuse me of lying again. It is ALSO in the paper this morning and I mentioned that because it would be possible for people to read it for themselves. However I am at an advantage because of my connections with someone working for the company.
At the moment some production being carried out in the U.K. And to be moved to France. FACT.
primrose My daughter had a meeting with their Brexit officer a couple of days ago. That is where I got my information. So I am afraid your point about it being fake news is incorrect.
