Momentum are getting stronger

Luciana Berger who is chair of the Jewish Labour Movement was re-elected in Liverpool with a majority of nearly 33,000

Momentum activists took nine of ten positions in the LP, one new official has said Berger is now answerable to us!

I thought an MP was answerable to her constituency

They are doing a ruthless job of promoting Corbyn, flattening out any opposition and generally making his way smooth and doing any dirty work that he doesn't need to know about.

Do you have any idea how the conservative work behind the scenes RAR?

GracesGranMK2 Fri 07-Jul-17 21:35:28

I really find some of the posts on here laughable. Is it because this is the first time in generations we have a party that is interested in peace not war, that when other parties (and posters on GN) demonise parts of our society this party and its leader urge the end of discrimination and want to treat everyone with respect. Please don't tell me that is not what they are saying because it is what I and many others are hearing.

The idea that we would be anything like the old USSR or North Korea (that is what a one party state looks like) is risible - very. I don't think anyone can seriously suggest that is what the Labour Party is aspiring to - nor could they achieve it if they were. They are part of a diverse party in a capitalist, democratic country. It seems to be democracy you are fearing and the removal of the growing plutocracy.

Nothing that has come out of the LP is further to the left than the social democracy of the Nordic countries and Scandinavian countries would call it middle of the road. These are counties with some of the highest living standards in the world and do many things better that we do - why is that so bad? Why do you not want it for all people in this country?

All I can hear from the screams of the right on here is people who have voted for parties who have increased in-work poverty, increased homelessness, increased insecurity and are now worried that a party will come along and take some of their toys away to create the fairness they don't believe anyone, that doesn't see the world as selfishly as they do, deserves.

And presumably taking your Nanny canvessing is fair game

Tegan2 Fri 07-Jul-17 21:21:36

Oh, just to redress the balance, however, I am concerned about momentum and all this talk of deselection. The S.O. tells me that Nottingham MP Chris Leslie is in danger of being deselected and he is an incredibly good constituency MP. However, I don't really understand the ins and outs of it all but am even more concerned about the awful things that this Conservative government has done/is doing to this country.

All politicians are fair game Tegan for their policies, utterances, etc but it's beyond silly and petty to say, ooh, look his children have funny names etc.
So what? Lots of people give their offspring strange names ( Geldof for one.)

Tegan2 Fri 07-Jul-17 21:16:12

Rees Mogg is fair game in my opinion when he can afford to have 6 children has a grant of some kind to fix his family mansion and then still votes for a pay cap on public sector workers [just saying...].

Anniebach Fri 07-Jul-17 21:15:45

No Whitewave, it is fact,

rosesarered Fri 07-Jul-17 21:05:26

Of course, all Corbyn fans will probably not mind a bit. They should!

rosesarered Fri 07-Jul-17 21:04:14

ww .....you can take it as a yes as a no or any way you like.I expect I know as much as most people know about them without actually being part of their group.
They are doing a ruthless job of promoting Corbyn, flattening out any opposition and generally making his way smooth and doing any dirty work that he doesn't need to know about. He may of course, know quite a bit of what they are doing, but is allowed to rise above it and pretend not to know.Anyone who isn't wholly behind Corbyn and McDonnell will be harrassed and eventually got rid of by deselection.

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 20:57:41

Oh dear annie i think that is called flights of fancy

Anniebach Fri 07-Jul-17 20:55:53

Momentum sre doing more than lurking, they have been lurking for some years under different names, now as Momentum they are striking with force . They have placed the country's most admired Grandfather - not my description of him - in the top spot and when he wins the election stand by for the militants to crawl out from the woodwork, McDonald will be in power, the unions will drag us back to strikes every couple of weeks , we can but hope this time it will not be grieving families prevented from burying their dead relatives .

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 20:52:01

So i take that to be a no then rose

rosesarered Fri 07-Jul-17 20:48:15

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 20:45:06

durhamjen Fri 07-Jul-17 20:43:55

And of course you know all about them, too.
You don't know anything about any of them, just what you read in the Times.

rosesarered Fri 07-Jul-17 20:43:38

Perhaps you would like to Google them ww

rosesarered Fri 07-Jul-17 20:42:19

It's a new name for Militant Tendency.

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 20:42:16

Perhaps you would like to tell us about momentum rose

rosesarered Fri 07-Jul-17 20:40:38

I agree Monica 'lurking in the corners awaiting their chance' [grins] that sums up Momentum well.

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 20:14:11

Good post gg

GracesGranMK2 Fri 07-Jul-17 20:13:35

I'm afraid Moggmentum just makes me think of support for the cat!

GracesGranMK2 Fri 07-Jul-17 20:09:07

I haven't actually seen anyone suggest that the Labour Party wants to move to a one party state RaR. Where did you come across that? In truth, I see it more from the Tories who totally believe no one can do it better than them - as long as we don't mind if they become rich and others poor in the process.

This is the sort of attack that is made if you are a party, within a capitalist country, with a far-right capitalist government, and you fight for social justice and minority rights. These left-wingers they stand for such awful things don't theyhmm

durhamjen Fri 07-Jul-17 19:51:12

Conservative Party has doubled the debt since they came in in 2010.
Is that competence? Is that what you expected them to do when you voted for them?

whitewave Fri 07-Jul-17 19:49:36

monica you are believing the lies

durhamjen Fri 07-Jul-17 19:49:33

Did you watch QT last night, Monica?
