TM and THAT dress

OK I am being sexist, but that Next dress on the front of today's DT really got my day off to a bad start. Fair enough, her pins are pretty good, but a woman of her age does NOT IMO wear a little pink shirt dress suitable for a girl/woman less than half her age several inches above the knee.
Girlish? Yuk!
Say what you like about Michelle Obama or Sam Cam but they knew how to look elegant, whether formally dressed or smart casual.
(Brigitte Macron is another whose determination to look "young" irritates me.There is such a thing as trying TOO hard. )

Not sure if that first one is JC on a train? If so it
could be

"a seat at last"

gillybob Wed 02-Aug-17 15:39:38

Or this one?

gillybob Wed 02-Aug-17 15:39:06

Can anyone suggest a caption for this one?

Smileless2012 Wed 02-Aug-17 15:28:53

Do you think she might be persuaded too Anniebach if she sees that picture of JC?

devongirl Wed 02-Aug-17 15:28:29

Please ladies remeber, he's not the PM (yet)

gillybob Wed 02-Aug-17 15:23:13

I know that Anniebach but can't imagine anyone would start a thread entitled

JC and THOSE shorts (with socks)

well I know someone who might've thought about it wink

Anniebach Wed 02-Aug-17 15:19:11

Well, she didn't wear a shell suit or shorts with socks

gillybob Wed 02-Aug-17 14:51:45

But look at the shell suit Jalima.

The man is way ahead of today's fashion.

Now if only I could persuade DH to dress a la Jeremeeee, I could wear my own pink linen frock and we could do a kind of Tess and Jezza double act.

Imperfect27 Wed 02-Aug-17 14:37:47

And STILL TSLKING ABOUT THAT BL***Y FROCK! grin I did try to deflect the conversation with the hat ...

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 14:06:35

A pink frock over the top of the shirt and rolled-up trouser ensemble would be a lovely finishing touch.

gillybob Wed 02-Aug-17 13:12:13

When it comes to style.

JC really has the edge grin

trashier, I was surprised when I saw the pink frock because I've felt TM had a personal shopper/personal style advisor since her first appearance outside number 10. Her style has generally been better than it was pre PM days. I think you're spot on, it was chucked in to be popped on over a swimming costume so she could go for lunch in a beach side cafe without being over exposed.

She's on holiday, surely she can relax. Why do women in politics get more attention for their outfits than their work? Focus on what she said outside number 10 about creating a fairer society etc etc and then look at what happened in reality, Criticise her for that but currently she's on holiday. She must be exhausted, she made poor decisions, ran a dreadful election campaign. I was surprised and almost pleased by her first speech as leader. I'm glad I didn't get carried away because of course, she did nothing to change the dreadful policies being unfolded. It'd be great if her only major mistake recently was that pink frock.

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 10:06:12

A combination of slim ankle-grazers with that dress worn open over a Jeremy Corbyn-style vest would work maybe?

Waits for those with some fashion sense to pounce grin
I would never qualify as a personal shopper!

trisher Wed 02-Aug-17 09:26:33

I think a personal shopper chucked that into TM's pile of clothes murmured 'holidays' thinking, from the beach to lunch over your cossie and TM just heard holidays and wore it anyway. Personal shopper is now thinking " How the hell do I get through this one!"

I didn't see the Angela M photo, but actually I always think she looks rather messy, a bit crumpled and thrown together. As for Theresa M, well I did think the dress was a tad short, I won't wear any dresses or skirts that are above the knee myself, but I guess it's each to her own for both the Mrs Ms. Personally, I thought Sam Cam and Michelle Obama always looked just right - considering they were in the public eye, and to be honest, I also think Melania Trump turns out pretty well, though for my money, I think her hair a tad untidy. Anyway, I don't suppose any of them cares a jot what I think, or indeed how I dress.

Anniebach Tue 01-Aug-17 22:57:20

Think I met you on top of Snowdon Roses, you came up by train grin

Deedaa Tue 01-Aug-17 22:20:20

Angela Merkel is a bit like the Queen and sticks to a look which is practically a uniform and works for her. TM lets us know that she loves expensive clothes and shoes so we expect to look as if she's spending money on them.

rosesarered Tue 01-Aug-17 21:00:38

Did you not Annieb ? ......I always did, and with perfect hair and make up too!grin

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Aug-17 18:50:10

I just bought a pair of cream chinos today, a la Merkel!!

M&S sale.

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Aug-17 18:49:36

that could be me on a day out (apart from the hat, that is)
But I could be smiling!!
But never on a chair lift, I could have a look of sheer fright!

Anniebach Tue 01-Aug-17 18:49:22

As someone who has done a lot of mountain climbing , I never did it in a frock, heels, drapped scarf and jewellery

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Aug-17 18:47:35

Perhaps they will yodel to each other across the valley

Chewbacca Tue 01-Aug-17 18:34:45

To be fair, Angela's holiday involved staggering up mountains, so she was hardly likely to be dolled up to the nines, was she!

ninny Tue 01-Aug-17 18:32:07

Angela looked a fright she has no fashion sense at all.

trisher Tue 01-Aug-17 18:11:30

If the Mays and the Merkels go hiking up a mountain together who will push who off first? (Or will the Mr Ms both do it?)
