Why start yet another post on this subject?

It is a heartbreaking story and I too have felt torn because of recent events.

It was so sad to hear the statement from Charlie's father the other day, we cannot imagine the pain he and Charlie's mother have gone through, but wrong of him to say if Charlie had received the proper treatment earlier, he would have been a normal healthy child. The poor little mite suffered irreversible brain damage when he had his first seizures.

Putting to one side the cost in terms of finance and specialist careers and how may other children could have benefited from those resources, it is time to let him go.

Easy for me to say I know but I'm as sure as I can be that if he were mine I'd have already made that decision. That said, my heart goes out to them at this terrible time.

Where is the other thread Charleygirl? This is the only one I've seen.

If you do search on Gard, you'll find it smileless, it's on the forums if you click on 'last hour'.

I couldn't help feeling that the parents should have been allowed to take the child to the US. I suspect that they might always have a nagging 'it might have worked' feeling haunting them.

I'm not saying this because I think it 'might have worked' because I don't for one moment think it would. But they were prepared to go to enormous lengths to keep their child alive where other parents might have just said 'let him go'. I think that not being able to try a last resort treatment might well affect them for a long time because of that.

Yes rest in Peace Charlie and let us all hope there can be some peace for his parents too.
