It is not the absolute value of imports and exports between the UK and the rext of the EU which ultimately matters. It is the percentage. We export 40% of our total exports to the othef EU countries. What percentage of their exports are bought by us? About 5%.

That's why they have got us over a barrell. We are going to have to negotiate from a position of extreme weakness.

Most of the goods are alesser quality than Eiropean or British made ones - DFS import their sofas and they have softwood frames - good quality ones are hardwood and last year's - are worth recovering.

The facts have been out there and it is very high - they will be employing EU citizens already living in the EU not only British ones. It will means billions lost to the Treasury.

China makes high-quality goods. If you're using a PC or mobile phone, it was probably made in China. Low energy light bulbs too.

Like dj, the writer has no idea where Dyson's figures come from even though he'd hunted for their source. I'd be very suspicious of figures that can't be verified.

I note that the writer also makes the point about individual EU countries' 'shares' of exports to UK.

Whitewave I don't accuse you of belittling leavers. I've always found you argue your point with recourse to rudeness or personal comments.

As one who didn't come down on either side in the end, I restate my view that the majority of abuse is by remainers i.e. the side that lost the vote. Not all, I agree but the majority. I saying this as one who is neutral in this debate. I suppose it's possible that had the vote gone to Remain, then we might have seen the same behaviour from the other side. But it didn't and we don't.

In fact there was a comment shortly after my last post which proved my point which said that leavers were led astray - implying most were too stupid to weigh the evidence. That's an example of what I mean.
