Virgin were not around durhamjen in the 1970's so who would you blame for overcrowded trains then?

The Truth Behind Traingate
(1001 Posts)EXCLUSIVE: New CCTV footage reveals Jeremy Corbyn told truth about 'Traingate'
I think someone owes Corbyn an apology. It won't happen of course but at least this may balance the story the owners of the news wanted us to hear.
lemongrove that is because that is what you are using - and opinion not based on fact. Bags has even said that is what she is doing.
""whatever the truth, the story does not reflect well on Corbyn"
Whatever the truth some of you just carry on with your prejudice and make nonsensical straw man arguments about booking tickets, etc. Corbyn was telling the truth and you cannot admit that simply because you don't want it to be true not because of anything Corbyn did.
an not and
"Virgin were not around durhamjen in the 1970's so who would you blame for overcrowded trains then?"
Another deflection.
Corbyn was telling the truth.
.trisher, you said in an earlier post you didn't care if it was a stunt , some do
yes right, if you say so GG
Must say, I cannot ever feel so protective of a politician that I could deny anything at all that may reflect badly on them,or as in this traingate affair, embarrassing and silly PR stunts.
lemongrove, I am surprised at the passionate protectiveness of Corbyn by some here, unsure if it's motherly or ?
Can't be either, surely? ??
It's certainly very odd. A mixture of maternal protectiveness and...er...secret lust?
Suppose it's similar to the Farage craze , perhaps extremes in politics does this
So yet again stories are being made up by people who seem to have little experience of business travel.
I don't think that is essentially a logical statement.
Most people I worked with would reserve seats when travelling for business (which happened very frequently). I remember on one occasion finding my reserved seat occupied by a very large man businessman, very smart in suit, tie etc but that didn't improve his manners when I pointed out that I had reserved the seat. However, he was made to move by the conductor. Perhaps he sat on the floor, who cares, he should have reserved his own seat.
We know the trains are overcrowded, even more so now.
We know something needs to be done.
I don't think pulling daft stunts is the way to go about improving things.
This whole Traingate affair has become less about over-crowding on trains and more about Corbyn - surely he should have realised that would be the outcome?
edit out man!
So a "stunt"by a politician to draw attention to how badly citizens are treated by billionaire tax exile Richard Branson, whose company is registered in the British Virgin Islands, and who has his sights set on the privatisation of our NHS, is to be criticised, but the lies put out by the said tax exile are to be praised? Well now we understand your socialist credentials Annie
If a Tory minister had stood on the stage of the O2 and called people f*****g losers there would have been much criticism , but not a squeak when the shadow chancellor does it.
Just because a poster doesn't like Corbyn or silly stunts doesn't mean they can't be either socialists or Labour Party supporters trisher and other trains apart from Virgin run ones are often overcrowded too.
Anyone who has to travel by train, on a regular basis, for work or professional reasons, would surely have an account set up with a train company, so that their tickets and seats are pre booked before making their journey? Isn't that the most efficient and cost effective way to do it? The company I work for is very small but we've had just such an account for a number of years. None of my colleagues have reported that they've had to sit on the floor of a train when going to a business meeting.
Have a nice BH to all, but don't go by train, unless you have reserved places.?
Do stop practising mediumship Trisher . You are hopeless at it.
I have said he could have filmed the people sitting on the floor, did his piece to camera without sitting on the floor and trying to be Larry Olivier . If he had done this I am sure many would have discussed it , instead we had George Galloway and a female momentum spokesperson twisting it.
weownit.org.uk/public-ownership/railways
Are you sick of squeezing onto overcrowded trains? The private sector has avoided investing in our railway. The average age of trains is higher than it was in 1996, and any investments are usually underwritten by the government - for example, with the West Coast Mainline electrification. Passenger numbers have increased by 60% since 1994/95, but by 2013 there was only a 3% increase in new carriages.
We know public ownership is possible because we've done it before. Recently.
In 2009, the East Coast line was taken into public ownership (after National Express walked out on the contract) and it was a huge success. The service had a 91% customer satisfaction rate, required much less public subsidy, paid back £1 billion to the Treasury and was the most efficient franchise in the UK.
The government reprivatised the East Coast line in 2015, handing it to Virgin Trains. But this example shows that if the railways were run for people not profit they could keep passengers happy and save us all money.
Oh the logic of it- it's the same reason much criticised used by many racist and anti-Semetics when accused of discrimination- well others are doing it, so why does it matter? It wasn't necessarily a pre arranged stunt, but it did draw attention to the situation on the trains. There has been much fuss made about that fact that some think Corbyn lied- but there is substantial evidence that Branson definitely did. Why doesn't this bother people and do people really think that Branson hadn't a real political motive in trying to discredit Corbyn? And why are they happy to have their political choices influenced by a tax exile billionaire?
Must say, I cannot ever feel so protective of a politician that I could deny anything at all that may reflect badly on them,or as in this traingate affair, embarrassing and silly PR stunts.
Aiming off and deflecting again. It was the truth. I do not feel protective of a politician but I do feel protective of the truth. This is a truth we are talking about - and democracy.
So, lemongrove? Other trains are crowded, too?
All the more reason for renationalising the railways.
Virgin are talking about extending the East Coast mainline to take in Sunderland and Stirling. If they have the capacity, surely they should put extra carriages on the trains they have at the moment, so people who have paid do not have to stand or sit in doorways.
That makes sense to me.
The right-wing on this thread are now just posting constant deflections and rather nasty suggestions about individuals who are saying something they don't want to be true.
I think we all know why. Propaganda attacks individuals not ideas and now they are attacking personally because their argument is shot. What Corbyn said about the train was the truth. That's all we needed to be clear about.
The trains were poorly run when they were nationalised
durhamjen so what makes anybody think they will suddenly change?
This thread could run and run, rather like the trains.
The fact that other trains rather than just Virgin are over crowded is relevant, as one or two are indulging in the age old sport of Branson bashing.Enjoy!
