The referendum bill clearly stated that it was only advisory, and I foolishly thought that
MPs would debate the facts and act in the interests of the country.
David Cameron may have said he would abide by the vote...he also said that whatever the result, he would see it as his duty to stay and see it through.

otiva; I'm on 'blue plaque spotters' on facebook. The logo showing EU funding is often quite small and I never noted them prior to the referendum. My local theatre, for example, is funded but they only have a logo on display in their private office; a new production soon to be shown in EU funded. Ditto our local cinema, [and one we go to in Northumberland] although that is displayed before the films are shown.

I never wanted to join in the first place and I still do not want to be associated with this greedy wasteful bunch. Leave means leave. We should just walk away.

I agree people have rarely been aware of which projects have received EU grants.

I seem to remember just before the referendum, the BBC interviewing people in South Wales about what they thought about the EU. They almost all responded with "what has the EU ever done for us?" and they were standing outside a huge new community building which had been funded by the EU!

The Brexiteers said that the Government would guarantee to continue EU funding (to the farmers, to deprived communities, to environmental projects etc) but strangely I haven't heard that mentioned recently.

Perhaps a Leave supporter could explain what G.B. will look like post BREXIT? How will we have enough food? Who are we going to trade with?

I knew. I knew that we had enormous commitments to fulfil and that the divorce bill would be massive. I knew the £ was likely to plummet and that consequently the cost of living would go up. I thought it likely that many trained, valuable EU migrants (actually only 3.3m people, representing only 5% of the U.K. 65m population,) would seriously consider leaving. I knew that I, my children and my grandchildren would lose their right to freely work, live, study, travel and love in 27 other countries. I knew doors would be slamming in our faces, that businesses would leave for mainland Europe, taking skilled staff and enormous tax revenue with them. I knew farmers would start complaining when the subsidies stopped and the cheap, reliable labour dried up. I know that the EU are not trying to punish the UK, there are 27 other nation states that need protecting and I know the UK would be doing the same if it were in the same position. The EU are playing by the rules, our days of preferential treatment are over. I know these things because I bothered to inform myself of the facts and those that didn't shouldn't be surprised by what's going on. This is what they voted for. Only it wasn't was it? People voted as an act of blind faith, it was about a 'feeling' and a desire to return to a non-existent past. So to those who said no Remain voters woukd post on here, you were wrong. I'm ashamed to be English and appalled at the level of ignorance, you won and you don't like the consequences? As has been said to me so many times 'suck it up.'

What would be the point of having a referendum if it's only advisory. Remainers out numbered leavers by a good margin in the H of C. so it's obvious it wouldn't have gone through and would have been a complete waste of time and money in other words, a pointless exercise! David Cameron also said that he would activate article 50 the next day if leave won! Another daft comment!

I doubt than anyone who had taken the trouble to inform themselves, and not just swallow the poisonous rhetoric of the right-wing gutter press, could possibly have voted to leave.

Why should we pay anything. I keep hearing from remainers they are doing soooooo well. Why would they need our money, after all there are 27 of them and millions of them. Why do you feel more empathy to them than the people you live amongst. Who Pay for the NHS, Schooling, Our infrastructure. Yes they give a little back but we pay the second most in as a tariff. It's not free. A lot of the countries it is. It's so unfair. We have food banks !!!!! We have to do something and status quo isn't working. We are addicted to imports from the EU which just ends up in Germany's banks. We need to import less. If there are tariffs we would actually make more money. And there are no jobs! We are the most populated country in Europe.

As my daughters in law are EU citizens, I expect you think it will be okay for them to stop paying tax and NI in the UK, then.

The reason we have food banks is nothing to do with the EU; that's just ridiculous!

We need to pay what, we said we would when the budgets were set - it is a percentage of GDP which each country pays - something like 1% and we do not pay the second largest amount - more like 4th or 5th.
Most of the things you complain about are not caused by the EU but the UK Govts.

The UK is the fifth richest country in the world lyndie. Why would we expect poorer countries to subsidise us? We should pay our fair share (if we have to leave which is crazy anyway). There seems to be a sense of entitlement here.

Austerity is the choice of the Conservative government, that's why the NHS and welfare state are being starved of money.

That has been said more than once by leavers to Remainers on this forum.

Well, you never miss a chance to be personal to me, that’s for sure whitewave and perhaps some of us on here get very sick and tired of all the invective directed to Leavers on GN.Because they don’t like the way the vote went at the referendum, there has been a steady stream of insults directed towards anyone who had the temerity to vote the other way. Leavers are not the ones on GN still using insulting language to Remainers, and it should stop !
It seems to be felt that it is quite alright for this one way stream of insults, is that keeping an adult tone do you think?
