Hope this is not “fake news” but relief from the endless speculation.
Good luck to them! ??

nigglynellie Wed 29-Nov-17 11:21:56

So did I, how wrong can you be!
Can't think that the Palace would be bothered Lona!

Anniebach Wed 29-Nov-17 11:42:11

Doubt the palace had much say on the marriage, possibly better to keep him in this country than have him swan off to live in America and become an even looser cannon than he is now, he is so smitten with her I think he would

Love the criticism of the DT - the DM last year also printed some very unpleasant t comments about her ethnicity. But still never mind, remember they are right( in all senses of the word) about everything else so let’s not get too upset. I suppose people who do t live in the UK don’t quite get the RF

paddyann Wed 29-Nov-17 12:15:15

they are NOT wealthy in their own right ...they may have wealth but where do you think they got it all to start with,as to rape and pillage in the 18th century Annie ,have a close look at history and you'll see it was very much around .

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 12:19:13

No sensible well advised wealthy people are wealthy in their own right in general - for one thing it never belongs to them eg Duke of Westminster.

newnanny Wed 29-Nov-17 12:36:50

Trisher why would a divorce in 10 years be a source of celebration? I wish them well. I hope the press allow them privacy after their wedding.

nigglynellie Wed 29-Nov-17 12:50:27

Oh have it your own way paddyann! Presumably the money the Princes mother left them was hers to leave else they wouldn't have been able to legally inherit it. But no doubt you'll, boringly, argue differently. Most wealthy people have a family trust which supplies them with enough income to secure personal financial security with having to work and no doubt the Princes have the same arrangement. MM, apparently has a fortune of some £4 million amassed through work so presumably ok!!

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 13:00:44

£4million a fortune? I don’t think so - more a nice nest egg

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 13:20:21

£4 million is quite a nice sum, I could handle that I think. grin

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 13:36:14

Me too but it’s not a fortune

nigglynellie Wed 29-Nov-17 13:38:05

Well depends where your coming from, it would be a fortune to me! Even these days it would command quite a comfortable income!

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 13:48:25

Yes, but if I won much more than that I would panic!

Although a private jet would be nice (VAT paid)

gillybob Wed 29-Nov-17 13:48:26

We pay for security at various events eg football matches

Er actually "we" don't, the club does.

So effectively the royals should pay for their own.

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 13:51:13

So why are the Met police complaining about the amount they have to spend on policing football matches?
Have I got it wrong?
Policing football matches in London cost the Met Police nearly £6.7m during the 2016/17 season.
The force spent £7.1m covering professional football matches but was only able to recover 5.1% of the costs.
Labour London Assembly member Andrew Dismore, who obtained the figures, called the situation a "farce".
The Met declined to comment.
That's just matches in London.

gillybob Wed 29-Nov-17 13:52:19

Blimey who could say £4 million isn't a fortune?

someone with £4 billion

Me and DH worked out we could pay off all our personal debts, company debts, mortgage etc. and treat the kids and live a very happy retired lifestyle for a lot less than £400k!

the royals wouldn't get out of bed for that would they?

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 13:54:54

I was joking, but I could handle £4 million I think grin
although would be giving much of it away

gillybob Wed 29-Nov-17 13:55:35

I know someone strongly connected to a big club in the North East and he assures me that the clubs bear the cost of the policing for football matches. So I am confused Jalima (not arguing) My neighbour assures me that in our force there is a large queue of police volunteers for the overtime it brings them.

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 13:59:05

Re police and security - I thought that the club paid for police on its footprint ( ground, land) but that the public purse pays the rest and that’s a lot

gillybob Wed 29-Nov-17 14:01:40

Just double checked my sources and yes the clubs do pay. Apparently they are invoiced (back charged) by the relevant policeforce.

A quick google tells you that Man Utd were charged £925,000 in 2016, Man City £944,000 in the same period.

gillybob Wed 29-Nov-17 14:08:07

Anyway I have successfully managed to avoid every news program, newspaper, etc. with any reference to the bloomin' royal wedding so far (with the exception of GN) but wondered if MM will be forced to start talking with a plum in her mouth, like her sister in law? My DH says she will probably be forced to have "electrocution" lessons to get rid of her accent and will be banned from calling her firstborn Brad or anything else remotely American. Can't have royal baby wearing diapers darling.

merlotgran Wed 29-Nov-17 14:14:31

We know MM likes dogs but I can imagine a harrumph from Princess Anne if 'horseback' riding is suggested. grin

nigglynellie Wed 29-Nov-17 14:17:12

Oh really does it matter?!!! Give it a rest and leave the poor things alone. The D of C spoke has always spoken the way she does! Hardly surprising bearing in mind her wealthy parents who made sure she went to the ,right' school! from there to the 'right' University, straight onto B.P!!

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 14:24:49

Gilly I’m sure the clubs only pay for policing in their footprint which is why so many police services are fed up about the issue. Or has your local police service done a deal? If so why don’t others. Can you find out?

gillybob Wed 29-Nov-17 14:24:55

At the risk of sounding like a pantomime audience "Oh no she didn't " niggly !

She has always spoken "posh" but not as "plummy" as she does these days. Sounds like she's the royal and 'Willy" is the "commoner" .

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 14:25:44

She didn’t used to be a size 0 either
