Hope this is not “fake news” but relief from the endless speculation.
Good luck to them! ??

I am just happy for both of them and wish them a long and happy marriage. I look forward to the wedding, and everything that goes with it.I am a fan of the royals, and if we didn’t have them, what would we have?

HildaW Mon 27-Nov-17 17:34:06

Wish to add my best wishes....and would just like to say I find all the negativity so very sad....why can we not just be happy for them. What's wrong with just being a bit upbeat and optimistic about people.....if we do not try to see the good in the world or in other people (whoever they are) we run the risk of seeing nothing but gloom and misery. Yes, there is a lot of really nasty stuff in the world and we do need to do what we can to counteract that, but I'm not sure being bitter about other people's happiness actually does anything positive.

nigglynellie Mon 27-Nov-17 17:36:38

Hear, hear HildaW!!

Ski43 Mon 27-Nov-17 17:41:17

Well said HildaW, we need to look for the good things in life, it,s too short to be full of doom and gloom.

I don’t know them, I don’t pretend that I do! I haven’t swallowed all the PR rubbish spewed out about the RF over the years. I believe that inherited rank, status and privilege is just plain wrong. I think the monarchy contributes to the flawed values of our society, the inherent inequality and unfairness. I see plenty of good and happy things in my life - I don’t need some surrogate dysfunctional family to make me happy or make me smile,I have my own family and good friends and neighbours who I know and care about. I’m adult enough not to need the RF and its erstwhile members to bring joy into my life. As individuals I couldn’t care less about them but as an institution I care very much about what they stand for.

maryeliza54 Mon 27-Nov-17 17:47:07

I really can’t understand why you need this to bring something good into your lives.

HildaW Mon 27-Nov-17 17:57:26

As my Granny used to say.....whatever makes you happy......as long as it doesn't frighten the horses!

maryeliza54 Mon 27-Nov-17 17:58:55

wills if you bothered to read tft you would see why I mentioned stamp duty and stop being so bloody patronising - I enjoy my life enormously and I fail to see how my views on this suck the joy out of anything- carry on enjoying life vicariously if you wish, my joy is first hand and real

willsmadnan Mon 27-Nov-17 18:17:00

Maryliza I have no feelings either way about the RF, I personally think people who fill their homes with RF / Diana memorabilia, and camp outside Crathie and Sandringham churchs are sad souls but if it lightens their lives. so be it. I don't do anything vicariously ..I live happily in the real world.

Chewbacca Mon 27-Nov-17 18:25:24

Another here who's happy to wish the couple a long and happy future together. Doubly so if it irritates the gloom merchants on here. grin

maryeliza54 Mon 27-Nov-17 18:30:03

Yawn yawn yawn

maryeliza54 Mon 27-Nov-17 18:31:19

Well why all the negative comments aimed at me then wills.

Chewbacca Mon 27-Nov-17 18:31:21

Just seen their interview and it's lear they are both smitten. She comes across as very confident which I'd expect from an American and an actress. I think they'll carve their own life and identity within the Royal family and by the time of the wedding he'll be down to 6th in line to the throne. I predict they'll become more of the 'People's royals' than W and K who I still perceive of as rather lazy.

Norah Mon 27-Nov-17 19:04:18

Lovely. Good Luck to them.

Jalima1108 Mon 27-Nov-17 19:07:33

Me too Chewbacca

I am very happy for them, I hope they have a long and contented marriage, I hope that all their dreams of making the world a better place through their humanitarian work come true.

although I did turn the tv off when I heard Mary Nightingale say 'over the Ben Whoever for the start of wedding frenzy'.

I don't want to join in the frenzy. tchgrin

Jalima1108 Mon 27-Nov-17 19:07:51

over to Ben Chapman!

Jalima1108 Mon 27-Nov-17 19:08:54

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Don't keep sucking them though, as it could turn you sour.

merlotgran Mon 27-Nov-17 19:37:11

Some people will be benefitting from the wedding frenzy though. Our tourist industry won't exactly lose out especially as Meghan is American and the Canadians love her as well. Then there's the fashion industry, souvenirs, catering etc., etc.,

Personally I'm more excited about the imminent return of The Crown on Netflix.

pollyperkins Mon 27-Nov-17 19:41:14

Well I think it's rather nice to have some pleasant news for a change, and I do hope they will both be very happy together.

nigglynellie Mon 27-Nov-17 19:45:54

I think that whatever your views are about the RF, it's just churlish and mean spirited not to wish this young couple well. A lot of people are extremely wealthy through inherited wealth but surely that's no reason to be unpleasant about them?

cornergran Mon 27-Nov-17 19:51:18

I wish them well and hope they can be happy together.

pollyperkins Mon 27-Nov-17 19:58:14

I dont understand why people who aren't interested are reading this post anyway. I don't read posts I have no interest in.

Chewbacca Mon 27-Nov-17 20:04:44

Nor me polly. And to keep returning to tell everyone how uninterested they are is just grin

suzied Mon 27-Nov-17 20:55:12

I hope she’s applied for a visa
