Will she have to take the Citizenship test and if she passes take the oath and make a pledge to be a faithful subject?
Good Morning Monday 11th May 2026
cheap rail travel towards Exeter Weymouth Bournemouth Southampton and Portsmouth
Hope this is not “fake news” but relief from the endless speculation.
Good luck to them! ??
Will she have to take the Citizenship test and if she passes take the oath and make a pledge to be a faithful subject?
eazybee not a sourpuss,in fact I'm a very happy contented wife, mother and grandmother...I just dont believe in the "devine" right of monarchy..its a mediaeval concept in the 21st century .We should follow other countries who got rid and have a president...THATS someone we VOTE for and vote out when we dont think they're doing the job they're paid to do.I think we're better than royal worship but sadly many especially south of the border are still locked into the peasant mindset...subjects not citizens .The monarchy should end when Lizzie dies ,we really dont need another 3 generations of these pampered, over privileged parasites. As far as I'm aware I'm ALLOWED an opinion ...just as you and your fellow cap doffing ,curtsying friends are
They appear to be a lovely young couple and very much in love. I hope that they spend a happy time together - good luck to them- such a pity that Diana is not around- she would have loved the preparation for this happy day.
Why do a few misery guts spoil a happy thread?
Like Venezuela Paddyann
FGS how can people disagreeing with you spoil a happy thread - bit of snowflakery going on methinks.
Just watched the filmed interview with the happy couple. Lovely to see how happy they are together and looking forward to their life in partnership. They seem to be firm friends, with a very similar outlook on what they want to achieve together in life. Yep, definitely a good news story in these gloomy times.
Well look at a successful president like Putin. Have you seen those rooms he walks through? Makes Buck House look like a hovel! I'm sure the Russian people love keeping him in luxury
I don't think many people these days doff their caps or courtesy unless they want to, and the RF are certainly not parasites (what a horrible word, on a par with bitch). Judging by the street interviews on TV a republic would seem to be a long way off!
Talking of curtseying. We watched Mary Berry's Country House Secrets last week and couldn't believe our eyes (so we rewound it three times) when the (male) chef she was introduced to bobbed a curtsey.
So it's not just the RF that leave some people flummoxed and Mary Berry is royalty.......isn't she?
Well, as good as Merlot ( think Mary Berry has taken over from the Queen Mum.)
Think a few posters need a sense of humour, a sense of fun, and a bit of joy in their lives, talk about misery-guts’.
snowflakeryin all its various forms seems to be one of your favourite topics maryeliza.
You may be pleased to know that I'm sure I heard reports of snow in Kensington ...
Could be wrong
Mary Berry is the Queen Mother of Cakes
I'm very pleased for the happy couple and hope that when the wedding is done and dusted they won't be mithered to death by the paparazzi.
Just to offer a counter view, I know first hand of some of the 'behind the scenes' work undertaken by the young princes and whilst I accept they are privileged by birth I don't believe they are lazy. I know of evidence to the contrary.
What have they done in the last month ?
I watched the interview, didn't warm to her, and thought they overdid the we are so in love, not fond of gushing.
And your point is Jal? Have you any idea how stupid your post sounds? It’s not even accurste. Pathetic
Oh lemon the expert on everything including other people’s lives. I am in awe - and such an original post
ga it all depends what you mean by lazy - neither of them work full time and have none of the normal responsibilities that men of their age have to contend with. The whole point for me is the untenable fact of inherited unearned rank status and privilege and regardless of any good works they do that doesn’t make up for that. We might ask ourselves instead why in a supposedly civilised society so much charity work is needed - especially for ex servicemen.
Well it obviously is maryeliza, so it's a good thing someone has taken it up. I repeat, how can these young men help the family and situation they are born into? A lot of people are born into privilege and compared to a lot of people in the world, most if not all of us are extremely lucky and privileged! presumably we too be ashamed of our comparatively comfortable life styles that we've been born into? I really don't see why anyone would feel it necessary to make snide unkind comments about any young couple who are starting out in life together - lighten up and give it a rest all you Jeremiahs!
We never watch Mary Berry, but I was intrigued by the comments !!!!
Well just had a skim through this thread and on the whole there seems a positive attitude to the engagement.
I thought Meghan presented herself very well when interviewed. She was confident and happy. Prince Harry has at last found his special person. I can only feel happy for them.
I am now wondering what special wedding food M and S will prepare for us to eat whilst watching the ceremony. Or after the ceremony for those of you who don't approve of eating and watching at the same time ?
For all of you few miseries who have tried to spoil the excitement of the engagement, you better get yourselves geared up for this time next year when we will be waiting for the birth of a new Royal baby.
God Save the Queen. ??
FFS I am not a misery, I have not tried to spoil the excitement. I am a staunch republican and fully entitled to state my views on the existence of the RF. Ia few comments from me can spoil your excitement then you are not very excited are you. It’s absolutely pathetic calling people like me miseries, spoilsports, commenting on our joyless lives - just grow up. I have every right to state my views on this thread
.......”so much charity work is needed - especially for ex-servicemen”. Exactly Maryeliza, but while the rest of us stand around scratching our heads Harry has actually done something, Invictus.
Back to the engagement, been wondering when the wedding will be. Do you think they will wait until Kate’s baby is born so the bump won’t have a starring role?
I hope they have a happy life, truly I do, but the hype is too much already. They will need all the luck in the world and the best thing they can do is to simply go off and have a life away from the spotlight.
Oh, and I do hope his grandfather watches his tongue.
I don't understand or get all the negativity. A young couple are in love and want to get married - nice news for a change. I equally don't understand what all the fuss about her being mixed race is - we're all mixed race somewhere along the line. Good luck to them both.
Bit tricky trying to arrange a wedding around a birth. I’m really hoping late April/early May as I already have a holiday planned. For the last shindig, I had an amazing long weekend away with like minded friends - no TV, no radio, no papers and plenty of good food and wine and stunning remote countryside. No misery at all you’ll be sorry to hear. Republicans do fun?
