Has the Conservative Party lost all sense of competence

This is not an attack on individuals but on the ethos of conservatism. Since the war the CP has created the myth that they are competent. Recently we have seen:

Incompetence with the economy.
Incompetence with benefits
Incompetence with state pensions
Incompetence with support for business and industry via infrastructure
Incompetence in many areas with government administration
Incompetence with transport
Incompetence in the criminal justice system
Incompetence in defence
Incompetence in education
Incompetence in the NHS
Incompetence in running their own election

I am sure there are other areas. Why does anyone vote for this incompetence? Surely we deserve better?

3cabinet ministers gone in 2 months.

Greens lawyers knew in 2008. Green is denying that he downloaded or viewed the pornography. Green is still saying that he never knew about the pornography on the computer.

Sounds as if Green is still lying doesn’t it?

Quite a habit has got into this government hasn’t it?

maryeliza54 Thu 21-Dec-17 08:11:04

Complete hypocrisy in the right wing posts - if this was a Labour MP they would be frothing with outrage but as it’s a Tory they are minimising a Deputy PM lyimg for months - this included by clear implication that the police who said there was porn on his computer were lying. No more compass at all - what about the 9th commandment that Christians think is so important? Including TM? As for your sarcastic comment lemon sbout what I know - do you think I made it up? FFS. I leave that to others

maryeliza54 Thu 21-Dec-17 08:11:38

More= moral

suzied Thu 21-Dec-17 08:17:14

I do know Mandy R.D. didn’t own the copyright, it just sprang to mind as appropriate when Green claims he knew nothing about what was on his computer....

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 08:18:40

What is outrages is that the government is still demonising the police officer who, rightly and with great courage felt that it was in the national interest to ensure this became public know.

What is fascinating is the way those accused, continue with bare faced lies with the arrogance so common with their type. Most unpleasant.

lemongrove Thu 21-Dec-17 08:18:56

Another lovely post from you maryeliza you seem to think that everybody ‘froths’ .....well, some do not.

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 08:19:27

Hunt on AGAIN trying to minimise the way he is ruining the NHS.

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 08:20:08

You froth quite often lemon I often worry how many tissues you must get through

lemongrove Thu 21-Dec-17 08:27:37

That’s rubbish about the police ww!
It wasn’t brave or anything remotely like it, it was done for revenge purposes.
With an office where different people use a computer, anybody can download or view things. It would be impossible to prove who ( not that any of it was illegal) in any case.
You need to read the back story of that raid by police on Greens office, a Labour Government who had friends in high places in the police, who thought he may be leaking things ( no proof was ever found) burst in to his office in Westminster as if it was a drugs bust. Many MP’s were utterly outraged by it, on both sides of the house, police got it in the neck generally for it ( quite rightly) and there you have the revenge motive by the two officers concerned.

lemongrove Thu 21-Dec-17 08:29:38

Silly personal remarks don’t help your case ww

Primrose65 Thu 21-Dec-17 08:35:39

I think there's a different way of looking at this.
May will sack people if they've done something wrong.
The LP tell the victims to keep silent, that harassment has not happened and do nothing, hoping it will all go away.
Has any LP MP even been disciplined yet? I think they're still investigating Keith Vaz over his drug & rent boy episode a couple of years ago.

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 08:38:07

Good try primrose grin

Primrose65 Thu 21-Dec-17 08:40:10

I think it's pretty insulting to all the police who are brave on a daily basis really lemon Waiting 9 years to say I saw porn on a PC is hardly the actions of a brave person!
I can't understand why it became of national interest after 9 years? Why not earlier ww?

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 08:43:33

You know exactly why the police officer spoke up when he did primrose

lemongrove Thu 21-Dec-17 08:44:07

We know the answer to that Primrose it was to cause maximum embarrassment and disruption to the Government just as Brexit is being negotiated.
And yes, it is an insult to police generally when bad apples do these kind of things.

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 08:46:24

That’s what you like to think is the reason lemon but we all know the real reason don’t we?

Primrose65 Thu 21-Dec-17 08:53:28

Why don't you just say what you think ww instead of telling us we all know the real reason?
I think the real reason is he was politically motivated.

jura2 Thu 21-Dec-17 08:55:19

To my mind, David Davis should be the one to go- he has directly lied, again and again about the assessment papers, and took a very long time to admit he had been- only when cornered and requested to provide evidence- his lies was all he could muster. Not only did he lie to the House, our elected Parliament, he lied to all of us, and in doing so, and in being so cavalier, arrogant and unprepared- put the whole of the negotiations in jeopardy- and with them, our economy- and as such all our public services, be thes NHS, education, social services, etc.

For me, this is a far far bigger offense than Green's.

And he is now showing that his will continue to lie - to us- as he clearly said he would resign if his mate Green was pushed- and is now backtracking, saying Green resigned. Now we ALL know he is an inveterate liar- but so does every single negotiator in the EU, and Barnier the most. They know his word is not worth tuppence, or 2 centimes - and it puts us all at risk. HE SHOULD GO.

suzied Thu 21-Dec-17 08:57:13

He was sacked for the cover up.

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 09:03:43

Lying Davis now has another epithet -pathetic

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 09:15:04

Questions being asked on twitter

If Green has been sacked because of dishonesty' why is Johnson still foreign secretary.?

If Green has been sacked because of dishonesty, why is Gove who promised 350million pow for the NHS still in the cabinet?

If Green has been sacked because of dishonesty, why is Davis still there?

jura2 Thu 21-Dec-17 09:41:23

Excellent questions

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 09:59:34

Just looking at the timeline on Greens downfall' in the Guardian

It began in 2006 when he told a young civil servant working in the Home office to get as much dirt as he could on Labour. This young civil servant was later given a job in in Davis s office and leaked as many as 31 documents to Green who was working with Davis the slippery toad.

Nice to know he has finally got his come-uppance.

whitewave Thu 21-Dec-17 10:03:26

For those who are also unaware.

Kate Maltby received a series of violent and serious threats after she was briefed against to the Heil. Green is implicated in these briefs and is being investigated.

eazybee Thu 21-Dec-17 10:08:08

Damien Green should have resigned and not put Theresa May in the position of having to sack him. He had lied and for that he had to go. The inquiry found Miss Maltby's allegations plausible; I found them risible; that is in my opinion.
The two police officers are being investigated by the Metropolitan Police's professional standard's department because they breached 'a duty of confidentiality'. Their actions appeared to be driven by spite, rather than courage. Again, my opinion.
At the moment, we are allowed freedom of speech, and opinion, although there are movements to curtail it. Some of the vicious, venomous comments on here and other posts, fortunately from only a very few, very predictable people, would also appear to be motivated by deep-rooted spite.
