You'd think those who want PR would jump at the chance to do so and tell us they had.
Obviously not Corbyn's inertia.

No idea trisher but the FT didn't seem to feel the need to report on business groups criticising them.
Is that relevant to an article criticising McDonnell and how he doesn't understand business? Surely the comparison is implied.

However, when you read it, you find out that the beleagured businesses are the rail companies and the utilities that Corbyn and McDonnell want to renationalise.
So do just about all who voted for them, as we resent having to give profits to shareholders instead of putting them back into the companies themselves.

Do you resent profits going to the shareholders of other companies, or just the ones running the privatised industries? The actual shareholders are often the same, e.g. pension funds.

There are certain things which are natural monopolies, such as water, gas, electricity and the railways.
Why should other EU countries governments own our railways, yet our own government does not?
Why should EU countries enjoy publicly owned railways, but ours be owned by those same companies?
The UK network is about 30% more expensive than other EU railways.

So pensioners can't afford to heat their homes but it's okay because pension funds are shareholders in British Gas?

Water is an even more obvious example of a natural monopoly.

A third of the money you pay for your water goes to banks and investors.
How much better would it be if it went to repairing the networks, stopping leaks, etc., rather than to investors who do not pay their taxes in this country.

Less than 5% of privatised shares are held by pension funds, yet such a fuss is made of it.
It's more worrying that over 50% are held by other parts of the world.

I noticed that two water companies have decided to close their funds in the Cayman Islands. What were they doing, having funds in tax havens?

Having read both articles Jen, they are not really similar at all. The FT article was not about renationalisation.

The FT article does say that the £250 billion that McDonnell wants to borrow for capital projects will damage the UK's credit rating.

Josh Hardie, deputy director-general for policy at the CBI, said: “If to fund some of these things, business is seen as a bottomless pit, that will damage growth and investment. If the idea is that it can all be paid for by excessive borrowing and punitive taxation, they need to understand what the impact will be on investment and growth.”

But both articles are about business not trusting McDonnell and Corbyn, if what you said originally was true.
