Corbyns Inertia

Holiday pay is included in the day salary for supply teachers- just as an aside.

Supply teachers today Annie are usually employed by agencies, not by LEAs, so no county involved. Agencies compete to attract contracts from schools and in doing so will cut their pay rates. A teacher may be only work a few hours a week and of course not have any work in school holidays. One of the great acheivements of the unions was a national pay rate that ensured equal access to well qualified and competent teachers over the whole country. Now those schools that have more money can pay more and academies can employ anyone to teach. Still who cares who teaches poor disadvantaged children?

So why are they afraid to share their position with the public? You have no evidence they have a position at all! It's just an assumption (and we all know that opinions based on assumptions are just prejudice)

Ava Etemadzadah, one of the women who accused Kelvin Hopkins of harassment has been explaining why she's unhappy with JC on twitter. She was told that blocking her entry to a taxi and trying to force her to come to his hotel room is not harassing.

@jeremycorbyn is "utterly determined all Labour Party events should be a safe place for women to go to.” That is why he promoted Kelvin Hopkins to the Shadow Cabinet in full knowledge of my complaint.

"An independent process for the few, but not the many."

Exactly primrose you’ve answered yourself.

Of course they have a position, which undoubtedly is being progressed as they progress talks, but no reason to take the focus onto themselves when the Tories are being shown for the shambles they absolutely are.

But 2+2 can equal 5 for large values of 2 Maizie. That's just O level maths.

This isn't a Brexit thread ww. There are already loads of those running, maybe talk about that on one of those, if you haven't already.

So what exactly is Labour talking about if they don't have any policies or a position on Brexit?

^You think it's smart to have no policy because it 'keeps voters onside'
So Labour policies are a turn off for voters?
At last ww we have a consensus^

I don't know what Primrose & Ab are smoking but it's sure as hell interfering with their reading and comprehension skills.

Or is it their maths? They seem to be asserting that 2 + 2 = 5....

Various studies have been published showing Britain’s economic position post Brexit.

They examined the degree to which the various regions in the U.K. will be exposed to the possible negative trade related consequences.
It found that the areas of the midlands and north of England had the greatest exposure with the London having almost none. Ironic given the voting pattern isn’t it?

12%of U.K. GDP was at risk whereas as only 2.64% of EU GDP was at risk leaving the U.K. in a very weak bargaining position.

Undoubtedly the EU have done these sums.

dj it is interesting isn’t it the way Labour have quietly gone about the whole brexit process. There isn’t a week that someone is in discussion with Brussels or someone from the EU is in the U.K. talking to labour.

maizie yes I saw the Peston thing about Labour’s Brexit position, and there are a lot of other commentators who have posted the same.

However I hope that labour continues to keep its powder dry as it is a much cleverer political position on a number of levels. One of the reasons is of course keeping the voter on side and the other which to my mind is very clever which is to keep the focus entirely on the government. Once labour have declared a position then the Tories will have a whip with which to beat them but at the moment all eyes are on the Tories and the total chaos that is their form of Brexit

you call that fighting for the remain campaign? Too funny

I didn't call it anything.

What are they negotiating Jen?

I think you'll find Labour is doing as much negotiating as the government.
What was the point of that link?
All it shows is that they didn't have an interview with Grazia during the short election campaign.
You cut it at the important points about policy.

I think you'll find Labour is doing as much negotiating as the government.

John McDonnell really is a control freak - he can't even talk about not having a strategy without leaking what was 'discussed' at a private meeting. Hardly private when he's briefing journalists and it's on Pestons FB page!

"That felt significant to me" said one of those at the meeting. Was that Seb or Seamus

JC really is a compulsive liar or he pretends to be naive to duck out of questions as he wants people to pity him. Just the sort of trait you need in a leader who would have to negotiate Brexit without a strategy.

A chat in front of an invited audience of young people ? Didn't risk awkward questions did he , no politician to disagree with him, you call that fighting for the remain campaign? Too funny

A good comment following that post; if Brexit supporters are so sure they are right, why are they so afraid of a second referendum? Isn't it better to have your ideas doubly confirmed?

Well, this is interesting and relevant to this thread

Robert Peston reports:

Here is another sign that Labour is on a journey to support the softest of Brexits and even possibly backing for a second referendum.

Labour's shadow chancellor John McDonnell revealed in a private meeting today that he has reviewed the party's last manifesto to assess whether its proposals - its planned nationalisations of energy, rail and Royal Mail for example, or its desire to set up a National Investment Bank that would support small businesses and innovation - would become impossible if the UK remained in the single market or indeed inside the EU

^He told those present that very few of Labour policies would be impossible if the UK stayed in the single market as a member of EFTA (like Norway) or if Brexit were never to happen.^

"That felt significant to me" said one of those at the meeting.

That said McDonnell also made clear that he and Corbyn are some way yet from announcing that Labour will become the party of the Norway model or a second referendum.

"The impression they gave was that they did not want to lead public opinion in that direction, but would go there if that is what voters signal they want in coming months."

I've copied and pasted the whole post so those who hate links can read it here

Really, Annie? So why did you say nothing televised?
Prejudice?

But no tv debate. I saw the one before the invited young
Audience

Jeremy Corbyn will take to the airwaves to answer questions about the European Union referendum from a live studio audience, it has been announced.

The Labour leader’s set-piece event of the campaign will take place on 20 June, three days before polling day.

Mr Corbyn will appear on Sky News at 6pm where he will appear in front of a representative audience of young people.
The programme will be presented by the channel’s political editor Faisal Islam."

Get your facts right, Annie, otherwise we will think you are prejudiced.

Supply teachers are often on zero hours contracts

Where was May during the Brexit campaign?
Oh, I forgot, you don't attack May, only Corbyn. Very socialist.

He was a disgrace during the brexit campaign, refusing to take part in TVs debates , only appearing at Momentum arranged venues nothing televised, even went on holiday, why remainers defend him baffles me
